Excessive alcohol abuse has been linked to alcoholic hepatitis, fatty liver & cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver. Symptoms include abdominal pain, jaundice (yellow skin & eyes), & vomiting of blood. A L COHO L CAN DAMAG E YOUR L I V E R Chronic alcohol use can result in pancreatitis , a disease that causes toxic inflammation of the pancreas. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting & severe pain while eating. A L COHO L CAN CAUS E PANCR E A T I T I S Since adolescent brains are still developing, this can lead to a decrease in thinking ability. Learning disabilities can result from damage to the hippocampus , the part of the brain responsible for learning & memory. A L COHO L S L OWS THE BRA I N

During intoxication, adolescents may experience low heart rate & blood pressure. Long-term chronic use may result in cardiomyopathy , a disease of the heart muscles, and hypertension.

Over-consumption of alcohol is dangerous to the stomach lining & may result in inflammation or severe ulcers. Long-term abuse is associated with cancer of the esophagus .
