Putting Patients First Meet Ellen Fischbach!

Hi everybody! My name is Ellen, and I’m a dental hygienist here at Aberdeen Smiles. I love being a part of the team, and I want to take a moment to tell you about myself. I joined Aberdeen Smiles last year, but I’ve been a dental hygienist since 2014. My aunt was a dental hygienist, and she thought the job would be a great fit for my personality. She convinced me to give it a try, and she was right — after my very first class, I realized that this was the job for me. I love interacting with my patients, and I especially enjoy educating them. In the office, we can only do about 30% of the work to maintain your oral health — the other 70% is up to you. The problem is that a lot of people don’t really understand how important the mouth is to overall physical health. Or, they want to take better care of their teeth, but they don’t know where to start. So, I try to take a lot of time with each patient to discuss their care. I’d much rather spend half an hour talking to a patient about their mouth than trying to convince them to undergo multiple procedures right away. In the end, I want to help people get their smiles back, and doing so is the highlight of my job.

extends to the staff. Everyone here understands that family comes first, and the office feels like a second family itself.

What I especially love about Aberdeen Smiles is the patient-first focus. We emphasize being compassionate with our patients, and that compassion

Speaking of family, my husband Andy and I have been married for almost two years, and we have an 8-month-old daughter, Marian. Marian is our everything, and I can’t imagine my life without her anymore. We’ve been adjusting to our new lives as parents, and our dog Aria has had to adjust, too. We joke that before Marian, Aria was essentially an only child, so she’s had to learn how to share. Andy is a farmer, and I enjoy riding in the tractor with him. That’s lucky because, during certain times of the year, that’s the only way I get to see him! We also enjoy playing video games and watching movies together. To stay active, I play softball in the summer and bowl every week. The next time you’re in the office, please make sure to say hello! If you’ve got questions about your mouth or your care — or if you just want to see some cute baby pictures — I’ll always be glad to help!
