Working Out Our Growing Pains A few weeks ago, our leadership team traveled to State College, Pennsylvania, to meet with our business coach, Attorney Julie Steinbacher. We’ve been working with her for three and a half years now, and we love every minute of it. Julie provides us with great advice and insight that helps us identify our strengths and weaknesses. She is the founder of a business named the Million Dollar Solution, and she is also the founding shareholder of an elder law practice firm called Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak. We had the opportunity to train with her team and shadow them during their standard procedures. We meet with Julie every year because we want to help our clients and their families in the best way possible. Meeting with Julie is one of the ways we can improve our skills and services to better help you! GROWTH, through fulfilling our goals, upgrading our team, and establishing boundaries and accountability. In addition, she pushed us personally so we could discover our weaknesses and strengths and how we TO HELP YOU STAY ONE STEP AHEAD “We meet with our business coach, Julie Steinbacher, every year because we want to help our clients and their families in the best way possible. can improve those moving forward.

We met Julie for the first time at a conference she was holding, and we were inducted into the National Alliance of Attorneys for Alzheimer’s Planning. This alliance is a nonprofit organization that helps inform communities about Alzheimer’s and provides resources people can use if they need help during the Alzheimer’s and dementia journey. Once we got to the conference and met Julie, we realized that there were other benefits she could help us with. So, we decided to work closely with her because she is the best of the best when it comes to elder law.

Shadowing Julie’s firm was extremely beneficial. It gave us an opportunity to see what we were missing and what we could change in our own practice. For example, Julie’s firm had a

procedure where completing an activity took less time than the way we were doing it. As a result, we found ways to implement their technique in our routine to help our clients more efficiently. The structure of her office gave us insight on how to build a team that feels supported and recognized. So, our goal was to create something similar to that. Although Julie pushed us to our limits, it was very rewarding. We now have a better frame of mind for our team and developed solutions to our problems.

Our trip to Pennsylvania was a three-day experience. We knew that we would be pushed to our limits during our trip — and we wanted

that. There were some growing pains we were going through, and we wanted to improve our practice to help our employees and, more importantly, better serve our clients. This trip allowed us to gain perspective by analyzing each one of our procedures — from the moment a client hires us, to the moment we disengage that file — and receiving feedback from Julie’s team. This allowed us to create a clear roadmap to follow to improve our internal processes, and overall, the satisfaction of our clients.

All of us at Absolute Law Group are so excited to share all of our new ideas and transitions with you. We did this for

you — our clients, our family. We want to educate you, help you, and put your mind at ease. We want to make this part of your life the best. So here’s to making the rest of 2022 the year of growth!

We worked diligently with Julie’s team on our marketing strategy and materials, the quality of

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS A CASE DRENCHED IN DISORDER

being rainy, dark, and gloomy. Because the woman relied upon the accuracy of the report, she left her home without a raincoat or an umbrella and got caught in the pouring rain. As the old wives’ tale goes, if you get caught in the rain, you’ll catch a cold. Well, the woman claimed that after being exposed to inclement weather, she caught the flu and subsequently was out of work for four days, had to visit the doctor, and spent $38 on medicine. Due to such a daunting experience, she also said that she suffered additional stress from the entire situation. The woman ended up taking Channel 2 news station to a small claims court where she sought financial compensation to cover her sickness and suffering — as well as an apology from the forecaster who wrongly predicted the weather. The woman stated that weather forecasts are legally binding. Many of us would see this as a frivolous lawsuit, but the TV station settled out of court and the woman received $1,000 for her pain and suffering and an apology from Danny Rup. Despite this case, most people take weather predictions from television and radio forecasters with a bit of skepticism thinking that forecasts are just a well-educated guess based on available resources — and it can change on a whim. It’s just the nature of it!

Some people love the rain. After all, there’s something magical about thunder rolling through the clouds as lightning illuminates a multitude of raindrops. Yet, if the storm is too strong — or even dangerous to be in — people might not enjoy it at all. And that certainly appears to have been the case in 1996 when an Israeli woman in Haifa, Israel, sued a television station because of their incorrect weather report.

The weather forecaster, Danny Rup, predicted that the day would be beautiful and sunny, but the weather had a mind of its own and ended up

Life expectancy in the United States has continuously increased, which means the need for long-term care has also increased. The cost of this care can range from $1–$1M, and this can cause you to worry. But with the right preparation and insight, you will be able to find a solution that works best for you and your family. One of the solutions you can look into is Medicaid. WHERE IS LONG-TERM CARE PROVIDED? There are several different settings that you can choose from. You can get long-term care through Medicaid if you’re in a nursing home, assisted living community, and even your home. In a nursing home, Medicaid can cover the cost of room and board, assistance with daily living, and much more. If you’re seeking help in your home, a foster care setting, or in assisted living, Medicaid will cover the cost of long-term services and supports but will not cover room and board. WHAT WILL THE CAREGIVER HELP YOU WITH? If you require assistance, your caregiver will help you with your daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. They can also assist you with Can Medicaid Cover Long-Term Care? YES! BUT THERE ARE SOME REQUIREMENTS

doing household chores, meal prepping, and shopping; taking you to appointments; and picking up prescriptions. HOW CAN YOU QUALIFY? You must meet four requirements to receive long-term care from Medicaid: You must be a

resident of the state in which you’re applying for benefits; be 65 years old or permanently blind or disabled; have a monthly income and assets under a certain amount; and have trouble with daily activities. The third item, the financial requirements to receive long-term care with Medicaid, is complex, but the two things that are important to remember are income and assets. Your gross monthly income must not exceed $2,523 for a single person and $5,046 for a married couple. If you’re a married couple, the asset limit is $137,400. But remember, if you have more income or assets than stated above, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get Medicaid. We can help! IT’S NEVER TOO LATE! Applying for long-term care with Medicaid can be confusing. Luckily, Absolute Law Group is here to help! We will be happy to look at your needs and your financial situation and see what options are available for you. We care about you and want you to get the care you deserve. So call us today, or come and visit to discuss your options.

‘SAY WHAT?!’ Why Hearing Loss Hurts Your Overall Health

YOUR MENTAL HEALTH Living in a world you cannot

Exploring exotic flavors and enjoying memories through scent are just a couple ways our senses allow us to connect with others. But when you struggle with age-related hearing loss, a critical component of how you experience the world can disappear quickly — taking with it your mental well-being. Why is this so? YOUR BRAIN Small, challenging activities or “exercises” for your brain can enrich your cognitive well-being as you age. But constantly straining to hear puts the brain into overdrive, and much like overdoing a physical workout, your brain becomes tired very quickly and degenerates. This increases your chance of developing dementia. A 12-year study by Johns Hopkins found that mild hearing loss doubled dementia risk, moderate loss tripled this risk, and those with severe issues faced a risk five times greater than the average person. YOUR HEART Experts are still determining a direct link between hearing loss and cardiovascular disease, but the research has found a startling correlation. Those with hearing loss are more likely to also have heart conditions. One suggestion is that those with hearing loss also have diminished blood flow to the ears, which is problematic for the auditory function. Our sense of hearing relies on a strong circulatory system.

fully understand or hear can exhaust your mental well-being. Those with

hearing loss may refrain from common social activities for fear they won’t be able to understand what is happening. Furthermore, they may face exasperated relatives whose

patience grows thin after repeating themselves or enduring TV volume above an acceptable level. Due to these situations, those who struggle to hear may experience greater social isolation and diminished feelings of self- worth. Depression is common among those with hearing loss. The best way to prevent these health concerns is to seek professional guidance. Speak with an auditory expert about your hearing concerns and discover solutions that will help you hear better and improve your well-being!
