All Wales Intensive Learning Academy for Innovation in Health and Social Care What is the ILA? The All-Wales Intensive Learning Academy for Innovation in Health and Social Care is part of the Welsh Government Intensive Learning Academy (ILA) Programme and is delivered in partnership between Swansea University (School of Management), Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, the Bevan Commission and Cardiff University. Outlined within ‘A Healthier Wales’, the long-term plan for Health and Social Care in Wales, the programme is designed to enhance leadership and development within the Health and Social Care workforce. How does it work? With case-based learning that draws upon global and local exemplars and a workplace-based project, the 180 credit MSc. in Advanced Health and Care Management (Innovation & Transformation), is delivered through Swansea University’s School of Management. It can be taken full-time or flexibly over two years and is designed for the busy professional learner. It will be practical, relevant and grounded in theory and global experience.
Teaching Approaches;
The full time content is delivered in 3 teaching blocks, whilst the part-time content is delivered over 2 years. Both are primarily blended learning, using Zoom (Video Conferencing) and CANVAS, a web-based learning management system which is now adopted by many universities.
The MSc in Advanced Health & Care Management – (Innovation & Transformation) consists of the following modules:
• Exploring Organisational Purpose • Navigating Innovation & Change • Prudent Health & Care Policy & Practice • Prudent Health & Care Innovation • Complex Health & Care, People & Systems • Research project in a Health and Care context
Each module dependent on the credit value, for example 15 credits, will be over 10 weeks: • has lectures that are pre-recorded with either voice or added text notes supported by: • weekly live zoom seminars • one Friday/ Saturday workshop As the content will be available on CANVAS, it can be downloaded at a time convenient to suit you so to fit around work and family commitments.

Assessment A range of different assessment approaches, including individual and group conference style presentations, reflective journals, written assignments and innovation project write up. Dependent on the Welsh Government guidance the full-time version will consist of on-campus lectures, seminars and workshops. the Health and Social Care workforce.
