7 WAYS YOU CAN BECOME HEALTHIER, STRONGER AND MORE ACTIVE
It is common aspiration to become healthier, stronger, or more active. However, this can sometimes be a difficult feat, with lack of time, pain, injuries, or difficulty sticking to a nutritious diet. When you are in pain, undesirable chemicals within your body are heightened, which can increase stress. As a result, your endocrine system becomes affected, which works to regulate the hormones in your body. Fortunately, the vast majority of aches and pains can be successfully treated by a licensed physical therapist. At Austin Manual Therapy Associates, our team is comprised of movement experts who have the knowledge and training to diagnose, evaluate, and treat any musculoskeletal condition that comes their way. To find out more about how our services can help you live a healthier, stronger, and more active life, contact our office today! Your health and you: The term “health” is all relative. It essentially means that your body is operating at its highest levels of function in regards to breathing,
circulation, digestion, and more. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be the most athletic person in the room. Any step you make toward helping your body function at its optimum levels is a step toward becoming a healthier you. Your physical therapist can provide you with exercises, stretches, and nutritional tips that can help increase your health and help you feel physically better overall. Increasing your strength and flexibility: It is no secret that strength and flexibility both play important roles in your health. Did you know that there are approximately 642 skeletal muscles in the human body? Your muscles work hard, not only to help you move, but also to support your circulatory and breathing systems. When you become stronger and more flexible, you become healthier overall. Our physical therapists can guide you through proper exercises and specialized treatments in order to relieve your joint and muscle pain, increase your strength and flexibility, and improve your overall health.

JULIA LAPO PT, DPT
“I chose to pursue a profession in Physical Therapy because it combines my greatest passions of physical activity: studying the human body, building relationships, and educating patients. In the clinic, I strive to provide patients of all ages and demographics with an individualized, holistic treatment approach. I am passionate about assisting patients in meeting their personal goals for wellness and seek to enable patients to return to their daily activities pain-free. I am originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas for my bachelor’s degree, and then finally found my way to Texas for Physical Therapy School. I attended Texas State University where I graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. In January 2019, I began pursuing a Fellowship in Manual Therapy through the Manual Therapy Institute. Outside of clinic, I enjoy playing and watching practically any sport, running, biking, working out, reading, and spending time outdoors with friends.

HEALTHY RECIPE Rainforest Smoothies
We Are Excited To Announce The MERGER OF OUR CLINICS
INGREDIENTS
• 2 cups reduced- fat milk or plant- based milk • 2 tbsp honey
• 3/4 cup frozen mango chunks • 3/4 cup frozen pineapple chunks • 1/2 cup frozen chopped kale
After 5 years at our downtown location, we’ve decided not to renew our space at 210 Barton Springs. Although we love the location, the logistics for parking, visibility, and accessibility for our patients is challenging for us at best. After much deliberation, we’ve decided to expand our space at our north location to accommodate our Barton Springs staff and patients. Our Far West clinic is estimated to be about 4,500 square feet, so we’ll still be able to abide by social distancing guidelines.
In addition to all of the safety precautions we’ve taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have also installed 3 industrial-strength air purifiers and placed them strategically throughout the clinic to provide further protection for all of our patients and staff. We know this change might be a surprise, but we are so excited about our expansion and the merging of the two clinics! Please help us welcome Julia, Olivia, and Ben to our Far West PT team! We can’t wait to see you at your next appointment
DIRECTIONS In a blender, purée the ingredients until smooth. Divide between 2 glasses. Enjoy!

PATIENT SUCCESS What Our Patients Are Saying “After experiencing an intensely painful and sudden problem with my back, my friends convinced me to give physical therapy a try and suggested Austin Manual Therapy. Within the first few minutes of my first appointment, PT Julia was able to spot and explain the major issue causing my pain, and went through a set of movements that made a huge difference for me before I even left the office. She provided a series of exercises and movements for me to do at home, and added to them gradually in future visits. She was easy to talk to, explained things clearly, and made the whole physically painful experience super pleasant. I’m no longer in Austin, but would absolutely recommend this thoughtful and professional practice to anyone who is in the area. Thank you to Julia and everyone at AMT!” — Emma S.
