About ANITA LE GRELLE

Starting from something that she lacks, or as a creative protest against everyday objects that she simply does not find sufficiently attractive or useful, Anita Le Grelle brings ceramics to life. The refined appearance and the different layers of glaze characterise the entire line.

When my last child left home a few years ago to study in England, I suddenly had heaps of time, and for the first time I could focus entirely on my work.” The energetic Anita Le Grelle spends up to twelve hours a day in her studio. a wide range of imperfections and peculiarities which in turn flow into a new, fragile formof perfection. Aproven perfection, because with the huge success of the previously designed objects in this collection, and the popular demand for other sizes, extending the range could not be far off. With her usual finesse, Anita went to work to treat foodies and connoisseurs once again to a series of new, eye-catching stoneware bowls, plates and platters in different shades of blue, grey and rust.

How does a Babylonian tower of clay become a successful tableware line? By sheer coincidence, according to Anita Le Grelle. One day in 2013, she decided to dismantle one of her old artworks and reuse the clay to make a mould in the shape of a small bowl. The bowl became a plate, which would then become a platter and before she knew it, Terres de Rêves was a successful line of tableware. nature, both as a ceramicist but also as a sculptor,” explains Le Grelle, which could also count on nature for the special colour of this collection. “I call it ‘duck green’,” a green tint that also contains a lot of blue, just like the tail of a duck.” RUR:AL denotes both "rural" and the initials A.L. from its designer. It's not a snapshot, nor a quick snack. "This is a new path that I'm taking and with which I want to experiment much further for the next few years." It is no doubt to be continued.

With RUR:AL, ceramicist and sculptor Anita Le Grelle pays tribute to the great outdoors. RUR:AL refers to the rural, organic nature of the tableware, but it also carries the initials of its designer. In addition to the tableware, Le Grelle also created three vases within this collection. “The shape of the vases reminds me of that of tree trunks set inmotion by nature. Never perfectly round, nor rectangular.” That same raw character can be found in the finish of the tableware, which was not glazed on the outside. “I like to draw inspiration from

the outside, giving it a texture much closer to that of trees or from the earth," says Le Grelle. Aside from the three forms of organically shaped plates, within RUR:AL, Le Grelle also made cups,abutter dish,anda servingplate.
