Hand Finishing Variations — Drapery hardware that is finished individually in the hands of master craftsmen will naturally vary. It’s inherent in the process, and the fact that it is not being replicated on a high-speed assembly line, is what makes it a custom drapery hardware product. Different materials take paint or stain differently. A hand-finished resin drapery rod finial may look slightly darker or lighter than a hand-finished wood drapery rod in the same color. This is because the wood absorbs more color than the resin. These slight natural color variations deliver the desired custom character and blend with the surroundings once the overall window treatment is installed. Brand Variations — You may see the same color or finish name in other manufacturers’ collections, however they may not match one another. For example, ADR’s Merlot may not match Merlot from a different brand. Once you settle on which products you want to buy, it’s a good idea to order all the components from the same vendor. Display Variations — There may be variations between what you see in the catalog and the actual finish. To help ensure you get exactly what you want, we offer individual samples and complete sets of the ADR Color Palette in either key chain or binder formats. SCAL E | ME AS U R I NG

Scale is the relative size of one object to another. ADR drapery rods and related individual components (finials, brackets, and rings) are identified by the Scale of the particular component (1 in., 2 in., 3 in.). This establishes how the various hardware items relate to one another in form, proportion, and function. Be sure to always pay close attention to the dimensions presented for each item. The photos can be deceiving and make some of the 2 in. and 3 in. Scale items appear smaller than the amount of space they actually occupy.

1. Precise measurements are key. Use a steel tape measure and measure to the nearest 1/8". 2. Measure each window individually. Do not assume windows that appear to be the same size are the same size. 3. W hen determining the exact length of the drapery rod be sure to consider the extra space added by the extension of the finials from the end of the rod. 4. W hen determining the exact length of a radius rod, be sure to include the extra length added by the radius at each end of the rod, e.g., a radius rod covering an 80-inch span that has a 3-inch radius is ordered as an 86-inch rod. The radius is the top measurement in the return diagrams on pg. 22. 5. Drapery rod brackets should be installed at least every 4 to 6 feet (depending on the weight of the drapes) and under each point at which rods are joined with a connector. 6. D rapery rings add extra inches to the measurement. This needs to be considered when deciding the height at which the drapery rod is to be installed. 1 inch scale One Inch Scale items are the largest part of the ADR product line. This includes 5/8 in., 7/8 in., 3/4 in., and 1 in. diameter rods. One Inch Scale finials, brackets and rings relate properly to these four rod sizes in form, proportion, and function. Of course, everything is always relative to the scope of the room, the amount of space to be occupied, the weight to be supported, and the statement to be made with the design.

SWING ARM / EXPANDABLE ARM RODS

**A Swing Arm Rod is mounted at an angle. If placed at 90 degrees, the rod bends downward with the weight of the drapery. Before installation, it is important to assess the impact the weight of the drapery will have on the rod. Mount the rod so it rests at 90 degrees with the drapery in place. Screw 1 in. finial (sold separately) onto end of swing arm to keep drapery in place.
