FROM STETHOSCOPE TO SOFTWARE OUR STORIES FUEL OUR PASSION FOR THE WORK WE DO
Some of our customers might wonder what makes AZCOMP qualified to provide insights and advice about what doctors and health practitioners should be doing for their clients. We would never dream about telling you how to provide health care to patients, but you might be surprised to learn that many of us have specific histories that contribute to what makes us uniquely good at what we do. I’ve been a software trainer for nearly 10 years, but before that, I worked nights in a level 1 trauma center. As a registered nurse who worked in the labor and delivery and emergency/trauma units, when I say I’ve seen it all, I really mean I’ve seen the most joyous and most heartbreaking moments the medical field can reveal. I loved caring for patients because I felt like I was helping them in ways that truly changed their lives. It was tough, but it was rewarding. What I didn’t love was the paperwork and record-keeping. I always used to say the dream job would be to just take care of patients and never have to write anything down. I think that’s the dream job for everyone in the field, but if paperwork suddenly disappeared, there’d be a lot more problems than solutions. Documenting everything correctly is a necessity because human well-being is at stake. The only thing missing from my nursing job was a sense of creativity. Thinking outside the box isn’t exactly encouraged in the medical field, because tried-and-true practices are what make medicine work. I’ve always had a passion for creative thinking, and that’s how I was persuaded to make the switch from night- shift nurse to software trainer at AZCOMP. It might seem like a strange choice — a lot of what I do now involves the electronic record-keeping I used to dread. But it’s rewarding in ways beyond anything I could have imagined.
sure patients are cared for properly. But like me when I was a nurse, doctors and health care workers get frustrated with the technological systems meant to help them with their jobs. AZCOMP exists to find the best system solutions for each individual practice, and it does that by understanding how each business operates and what it needs to operate better. There are no cookie-cutter setups here, and that’s what allows someone like me to let my creativity shine. We know what the best practices are when it comes to software, and we develop unique operations for each office to use those best practices in a way that’s efficient for them. I was once in an office, training the staff on their new software, when a patient being tended to by a doctor suddenly passed out. This situation would make anyone flustered, but the doctor handled it like a pro. I’ll admit my nursing instincts kicked into gear, even though they didn’t need the extra hands; the patient was just fine. But afterward, I noticed the doctor seemed rattled, and when I asked him what was wrong, he confessed: He was panicking about how he was supposed to record the incident in the new system we had just implemented. I smiled and told him that’s exactly what I was there for. These kinds of stories reveal why we have so much passion for what we do at AZCOMP. We help medical professionals spend less time worrying over their software so they can spend more time focusing on taking direct care of their patients. Our history, skills, and knowledge give us the know-how we need to help you do your job better and make a difference in the care you provide. I wouldn’t have left the nursing job I loved so much if that wasn’t true.

MAKE GMAIL YOUR MOST PRODUCTIVE TOOL
With These 7 Quick Management Tips
5. Prioritize your layout. Gmail offers different layouts you can use to change the priority of the messages you see. If you’d rather see only your most urgent messages first, simply adjust your layout under settings. 6. Make searching easy. Whenever you have an email you think you’ll need to pull up later, you can forward the email to yourself and add a few unique keywords to make searching for it later much easier. 7. Use multiple accounts. You can use Gmail as a hub for other email accounts you own and can use these addresses to send emails right from your inbox. All you have to do is add the other accounts to your Gmail setup under settings, then change the From label whenever you send an email. Gmail is full of handy little secrets for efficiency and organization, so take some time to explore and implement a few of them and discover how productive you can really be.
As you start heading back into the office, you’ll likely have to tackle a mountain of emails you just couldn’t get to while working from home. Here are seven quick tips for managing your Gmail inbox so your transition is a little easier. 1. Activate quick settings. Inside your inbox drop-down menu, you can change your theme, inbox layout, and other details all without leaving your messages. You can even activate previews of messages before you read them. 2. Use filters. Specific filters can be automatically applied to incoming emails to categorize and organize your inbox. Simply search for a specific email in the search bar, and you’ll see the option to create a filter for it. 3. Make an alias. When signing up for another platform or subscribing to something, you can easily create a throwaway username like [email protected] without changing any settings. It’ll automatically deliver emails from this source to your junk folder. 4. Set reminders. Gmail makes it easy to set reminders right in the app via the Tasks button. You can even add an email to an existing task to integrate the message as part of your reminder.

Nathanael Foster may only be starting his second month with AZCOMP, but the innovation he’s bringing to his role is already evident. That’s because when you’re our very first inside sales representative, you get to figure out exactly how the position can help both our business and our customers thrive. “Reaching out to prospective customers is about a lot more than just generating leads,” Nathanael says of his job. “It’s about explaining how dedicated AZCOMP is to making a difference in the work doctors can do and how that translates to helping patients.” After a recent church mission to some economically challenged neighborhoods in the Washington, D.C., area, Nathanael has a newfound respect for what it means to help people. “It’s about empathy and connection,” he says. “You need both to make a positive difference in anything you do.” Nathanael’s insightful mindset is what makes us so thrilled to welcome him to our team.
