Balance Physical Therapy
HowWe Treat Your Aches & Pains
In 2006, Chris Pierce and Pete Olson opened Balance Physical Therapy, a therapist-owned, therapist-operated rehabilitation center focused on integrating the highest standard of clinical care with a fun atmosphere. Since then, Balance has recognized, celebrated, and tailored its services to treat the individual. By evaluating our patients’ needs and goals before treatment, we are able to customize the best physical therapy routine for each patient. Our physical rehabilitation center has worked with thousands of unique patients over the years, and with our second location in Goffstown now established, our therapists look forward to sharing many more years with you! At Balance Physical Therapy, we know that physical therapy is not just physical. The interplay between the mind, body, and soul affects the success of an individual’s
rehabilitation, strength training, and other physical goals. That’s why we prioritize educating our patients with practical knowledge that they can use throughout their treatment and beyond. Balance physical therapists have earned Masters and Doctorates, completed residencies and fellowships, and have years of experience working with a variety of patients. On top of all that, we excel at having fun. That’s what differentiates us from so many other physical therapy facilities. Our patients enjoy being here. Here at Balance, we’re a community that befriends, learns from, and listens to each other in an energized, friendly, and professional way. The verbal exchange here is just as important as the physical one; that’s how we understand the concerns, challenges, and goals of our patients and custom-tailor our hands-on care to fit their needs.

Patient Testimonial I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts about my experience at Balance Physical Therapy. Having been a patient for well over a year I can say that “Care for the Mind, Body and Soul” is not just a catchy tag line. I have never experienced such a combination of professionalism, warmth and care at any other practice that I have ever been treated at. The Balance Physical Therapy experience begins with your support staff at the front desk. Each and every time I call or walk in the door they offer a welcoming and helpful approach. My case is complex and what I have found at Balance Physical Therapy is a staff of physical therapists that work together for one another’s patients. Having spent so many hours over so many months at the practice I have had the opportunity to observe all of your therapists working with patients of all ages. I have been so impressed. Here is where I have watched and listened as each and every therapist has cared for the patient, mind, body and spirit.
Being a patient in pain, regardless of the reason or your age is drain, a challenge, it wears on you. When you walk into Balance Physical Therapy you can be sure that the atmosphere and that every therapist is going to lift you up. There is an overall feeling of hope and kindness and fun when you step in the door that you can’t help but absorb. It is one of the main reasons that I drive an hour each way to receive my therapy when I have half a dozen practices close to home available to me. In addition to what the experience has meant for my heart and soul I have also never met a more highly talented team of therapists. The combined knowledge and skill level in the practice blows me away. I feel very fortunate to have found Balance Physical Therapy and I highly recommend the practice to one and all. Hugs, high fives and fist bumps are the order of the day at Balance Physical Therapy. Encouragement and motivation are key to success and when I walk out the door after each session I am moving forward. - Jodie Berry South Hamilton, MA

Balance Physical Therapy
We treat our patients using the following specialties: Sports medicine. Sports Medicine is a field of medicine that relates to the prevention and treatment of injuries and other health problems that affect people who play sports (Merriam-Webster). Sports Medicine is a subspecialty that exists within a number of different disciplines of health care and human performance. The Physical Therapists at Balance are uniquely qualified to treat the many athletes they see, because of their extensive training and experience and because they are athletes themselves. Concussion. Concussion therapy is a highly useful tool in supporting recovery from traumatic brain injury. During concussion therapy, you can expect to work with a highly experienced physical therapist who will evaluate the severity of your brain trauma and match you with tricks and strategies that can reduce discomfort, alleviate painful symptoms, and improve brain functionality. Vestibular therapy. Our friendly and expert staff will evaluate your particular symptoms, medical history, current balance, gait, visual stability, neck motion, positional faults, strength, and flexibility, and develop a treatment plan based upon your individual needs. Treatment varies from as few as 1-2 visits to a more extensive program depending upon the cause of your dizziness and imbalance. PBFR. Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Therapy can pose several benefits, especially in athletes. Treatments are usually done during exercise, using compression to restrict circulation in the affected area(s). This is done in order
to promote hypertrophy (increase in muscle mass) and prevent disuse atrophy (decrease in muscle mass). BFR is a powerful tool to prevent atrophy and to build muscle early after surgery or injury. Manual therapy. Manual therapy is a “hands-on” approach to healing used by many physical therapists as part of a recovery program. A physical therapist will use his or her hands in addition to exercise or medical equipment to apply pressuredirectly tomusclesor joints.Thegoal is to increasecirculation, improve mobility, andrelievepain fromawidevarietyof injury types. In fact, yourphysical therapist will probably use manual therapy as a method to assess an injury during your first appointment. Kaltenborn method. At Balance Physical Therapy, we have used the IOMTs approach as the foundation of our evaluation and treatment. Its unique and effective approach to problem-solving with the straightforward to the very complicated patient, has been invaluable in our practice. In 2006 Chris and Pete completed the 1 year residency in Orthopedic Manual Therapy. DryNeedling. DryNeedling isamedical techniqueperformedbyaskilledphysical therapist to immediately reduce pain, muscle tension and improve mobility. It is used in a variety of musculoskeletal problems including, but not limited to: acute or chronic injuries, headaches, neck pain, back pain, tendonitis, muscle spasms, sciatica, hip or knee pain, muscle strains, fibromyalgia, tennis or golfer’s elbow, overuse injuries, and much more.
