It’s time to celebrate the great news, more than 75% of oceangoing ships have bounced back into service with nearly all ships due to be back in operation by August 2022. Best of all, we have seen record-breaking cruise sales since the beginning of the New Year, as the appetite for cruising continues to grow.

New cruise ships for 2022 are set to be very exciting indeed and there are certainly plenty of them! There are some seriously impressive ships on the horizon including 17 new ocean cruise ships sailing this year and 12 river vessels. Our staff have had the privilege to visit and experience many of these ships in recent months and have simply been blown away by the innovations each ship presents. I had the pleasure of experiencing the largest ship in the world, Wonder of the Seas, which I was lucky enough to embark on along with 100 Hays Travel staff last month. All I can say is WOW! The

ship took my breath away, it was a statement of how magical cruises can be and it most definitely further fuelled my passion. SkyDome is the perfect spot to relax amongst greenery and artworks in a peaceful environment akin to an English park in summer. The Crystal, Laguna and Sky bars are great for a refreshing drink, and there’s Sundaes for a selection of Jude’s ice cream, milkshakes and Costa Coffee. Taste 360 is one of Iona’s signature dining spots offering a street-food-style dining experience, and nearby is The Beach House, which is perfect for all the family to enjoy tasty comfort food. After lunch, SkyDome becomes a popular hangout for swimming in the heated pool or chilling in one of the three Whirlpools, then it’s time to move up tempo with live music – and possibly a cheeky cocktail.

The pool disappears beneath the stage and SkyDome is transformed with dazzling laser shows. Soaring across the skies, spectacular aerialist performers make full use of SkyDome’s height with two new beautifully costumed shows: ‘Rise’, themed around transformation, and the spellbinding battle, ‘Triboo’; both have been created to harmonise with the vistas of sea and sky.
