Bid 1095 - Addendum No. 1

COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY PURCHASING DEPARTMENT 800 ALLEGHENY AVENUE, PITTSBURGH, PA 15233 ADDENDUM NO. 1 BID PROPOSAL NO. 1095 REPLACE ROOF AT LIBRARY BUILDING – ALLEGHENY CAMPUS MARCH 4, 2022 The following additional information is hereby made a part of this bid proposal: ***************************************************************************** Please note that the due date has been extended to Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Please use the accompanying, revised bid sheet when returning your bid. 1.1 The larger roof (Upper Main Hatch – to be called Roof I) adjacent to the theatre west circular roof will be added with an alternative price. The core of that roof is: A. Concrete deck, tapered isocyanurate in insulation adhesive, ¼” dens deck prime in insulation adhesive and BUR with gravel. B. All the other roofs have similar construction. 1.2 All drains and side drains will be replaced. The side wall scuppers will have new scupper boxes (made of KEE metal) and new conductor heads, downspouts and concrete splash guards. The scuppers will all have sumps around them, so no water collects in front of the scupper. The sump itself must be sloped and mitered and must not be a flat surface where water can accumulate. 1.3 Tapered isocyanurate insulation for all the roofs: A. Roofs A, B, C, D, E, F and G – 4.5 inches min, ¼” slope

B. Theatre Roofs East/West – 2-inch min, ¼” slope – there is no way to get rid of the water without a ¼” slope. There is 12 inches of height on the back wall to work with. We may have to insert some flat panels to be able to have a flashing height. However, 1/8” slope has shown not to work. C. The detail against the back walls of Theatre East/West shall be a water cutoff behind the flashings, termination bar and caulking. The KEE membrane and the concrete wall must be properly abraded and primed. Then Alphaguard BIO will permafab shall be installed to seal that transition. D. Upper Main Hatch (Roof I) – 2-inch min, 1/8” slope. E. Since the height of the insulation would not make a coping practical. The perimeter edge detail will be a shop formed two-piece fascia with a rocker arm to account for the radius. In areas where there is a radius, the contractor must submit for approval to determine the length of the segments. The wall must have positive slope away from the metal edge. F. Metal shall be 0.050” aluminum, Kynar standard colors.

1.4

The architectural roof plan is attached.

1.5

A sample tapered plan is also attached.

1.6 Please note that we will be adding a AVC membrane vapor barrier and defining the coverboard. Scope of work will be: A. Prime concrete deck with AVC WB Membrane primer and install AVC membrane as a vapor barrier. AVC membrane must come up the walls a minimum of 6 inches. Also, all the penetrations must be sealed with the AVC membrane.

B.

Adhere tapered insulation in low rise foam insulation adhesive. Bead spacing shall be 6 beads per board. On Roof I the bead spacing on the field shall be 6 beads per board in the field and 8 beads at the perimeter and 12 beads in the corner. The perimeter and corner size for that roof is eight feet.

C.

Install ½” HD iso board as a coverboard in low rise foam adhesive.

D.

Install Tremply KEE system – light gray.

1.7

Install KEE Walkway in the following places: A.

From the hatch (Roof F) – make two paths to the adjoining roofs – left and right. On the two lower roofs adjacent to Roof F – install a landing pad where people normally “jump’ down to those lower roofs. This will include Roof I and the roof that was already completed.

B.

End of Addendum 1.
