Their Hard Work And Dedication Can Be Seen Throughout History The American People Believe in Their Truck Drivers

We’ve been hearing a lot about the negative things going on in the U.S. right now — particularly with a supply crisis and how it has been affecting our country. As you may know, a lot of this has to do with the driver shortage, port issues, and regulation of drivers. This has led to shortages. However, I’m still optimistic. I’m confident in our truck drivers’ ingenuity and their American spirit. I believe in our truckers and that they will overcome these challenges. They’ve overcome so many obstacles throughout history, and they will continue to get through future issues because of their hard work.

limit here in California. But the bottom line is that it’s up to our current drivers to stay motivated and determined to ensure they can get the resources they do have to their dispatch locations. I believe our drivers are more than capable of succeeding in this obstacle. Our truckers have gone through so much and have climbed so many mountains in the past. During World War II, we couldn’t have claimed victory if it wasn’t for our truck drivers. After D-Day, the Allies developed a supply crisis. They created a “Transportation Plan” in which the Red Ball Express was responsible for delivering supplies and essentials to the Allied armies. These drivers performed their tasks with excellence and oftentimes drove nonstop in all weather conditions to help aid the troops. If it wasn’t for these drivers’ hard work and dedication, the outcome of World War II might have been different. The pride these drivers had after the war can be seen when speaking to the descendants of these truckers. If they could overcome the obstacles they faced during the war, I’m optimistic that our drivers can face anything that stands in their way — it’s like hard work and determination is in their blood. There is nothing our drivers can’t do! I’m so proud of what our truck drivers have accomplished in the past and today. They prove time and time again how reliable they are and that they can be counted on. Your fellow Americans believe in you and your capabilities. Your friends at Bigger & Harman have faith in all of our drivers, and we will be here for you every step of the way. Thank you for all that you do. You keep the country moving!

I believe our drivers are more than capable of succeeding in this obstacle. Our truckers have gone through so much and have climbed so many mountains in the past.

Since October, over 100 container ships have been waiting off the coast waiting to drop off supplies. The executive director of the Los Angeles port, Gene Seroka, stated in a news conference that the number of ships waiting along the coast has decreased by 40%. But this isn’t an accurate representation because shipping and trading groups changed how they calculate the wait to get unloaded. If a ship is more than 40 miles away, they suggest the vessels and boats wait out in the ocean rather than waiting offshore. Although there is a decrease of ships offshore, the total number of vessels hasn’t gone down. There may be fewer ships waiting off the coast, but the total number of ships waiting for their cargo to be unloaded is at a record high. The overflow of waiting ships is one of the reasons why grocery stores are bare of their usual supplies. Trucks haven’t been able to load these supplies because of the ports. On top of that, there has been a shortage of truck drivers, which contributed to this shortage. The White House announced that they are going to make it easier for drivers to get their CDLs to help with this issue. I’m not sure if that will help. I would prefer less regulation on our truckers and getting rid of unreasonable rules like the 55 MPH speed

‘Dr. Peyo’ the Therapy Horse Will See You Now! MEET FRANCE’S 4-LEGGED DOCTOR

Imagine you’re sitting in a French hospital, minding your own business and waiting for a doctor to see you. Suddenly, the elevator doors slide open and a full-sized horse clip- clops out into the waiting room! That might sound like something out of a children’s book, but it’s actually a regular occurrence at Calais Hospital. There, a therapy horse named Peyo visits sick and dying patients to help ease their anxiety, bring them comfort, and distract them from their pain. Peyo — affectionately known as “Dr. Peyo” by the staff at Calais — wasn’t always a therapy horse. In his early life, he competed in dressage, but it didn’t take long for his trainer to realize Peyo was more interested in the crowd than the competition. In a moving article

about Peyo, The Guardian reported, “After shows, he would pick out people in the crowd, approach them, and choose to stay next to them.” This was the first sign of Peyo’s secret talent: Like a bomb-sniffing dog, it appears Peyo can detect cancerous tumors. In the hospital, he uses a raised hoof to point his trainer toward rooms he’d like to visit. Inside, he comforts the dying patients and their families. “What really pushed scientists to take an interest in him and open the health establishment doors to us was this [seeming] ability to greatly reduce [the patients’ dosage of] all hard drugs and thus allow a more peaceful departure,” Peyo’s trainer, Hassen Bouchakour, told The Guardian.

Peyo has been working as a therapy horse since 2016 and stood vigil by the bedsides of more than 1,000 people, bringing them comfort and letting their children ride him through the hospital halls. It’s an amazing achievement for a 15-year-old horse! Of course, Peyo is far from the only animal visiting hospitals to bring people comfort. Here in the U.S., Johns Hopkins partners with more than 15 volunteer therapy dog teams that make patients smile, lower their blood pressure, improve their mood, and reduce their pain. At least 45 hospitals in the country have similar programs. Want to know if your local hospital employs therapy animals? Visit their website to find out. You might be surprised by what you learn!

Women Truck Drivers Are On The Rise 3 Reasons Why Women Are Entering The Trucking Industry

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and this is the perfect time to talk about the amazing women who have become truck drivers. Their presence has gotten stronger within the trucking industry over the past few years, and it’s great to see. Men have primarily dominated the truck driving industry, but many women are taking this career path since it’s a viable job for anyone. Only 16.7% of drivers are women, but that number is steadily on the rise. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why women are deciding to be truck drivers. SHORTAGE OF DRIVERS We have seen a decrease in the number of drivers over the past few years. Because of this need for drivers, women have filled the role to ensure that stores, businesses, and citizens get the supplies and resources they need. Due to the pandemic, there have been a lot of layoffs, especially within the restaurant industry. To make up for this, women have decided to take the wheel and get on the road so they can pay their bills and support their lifestyles. BETTER INCOME The pay within the truck driving industry has increased almost 5% since last year. According to the Labor Department, truck drivers make more than $27.50 an hour. This is higher than what women

could make in the restaurant industry, making trucking an attractive career choice. You can make up to

$45,931 to $85,000 a year by being a truck driver — if you have a clean driving record.

JOB SECURITY Unlike most jobs, truck drivers are needed for every industry and profession. Without truck drivers, many of the products we need couldn’t be distributed. In addition, cities and towns rely on drivers to keep their economies running. Because of this high demand for resources, truck drivers are always needed. Thank you to all of the incredible women who’ve decided to become truck drivers. You and your fellow drivers are helping so many people with your service. None of us would be able to live the lives we are if it wasn’t for your hard work and dedication. If you find yourself with a traffic ticket, allow your friends at Bigger & Harman to assist you. You’ve done so much for us, so let us repay that favor and look at the citation for you.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE POINTS ON YOUR LICENSE? Why It’s Important to Have a Clean Driving Record

INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE MISSION Thanks to your 73 referrals, we were able to give $730 to fight human trafficking. To learn more about International Justice Mission, please go to IJM.org. MISSION: To protect the poor from violence by rescuing victims, bringing the criminals to justice, restoring survivors to safety and strength, and helping local law enforcement build a safe future that lasts. Our long-term vision is to rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice for the poor unstoppable.

Driving is one of the freedoms many people get to experience. For some, it’s their career, and for others, it helps them navigate to their work, personal get-togethers, and travel. A clean driving record is crucial for many reasons. Let’s look at how points on your driving record can affect you.

INSURANCE A traffic violation can include an illegal lane change, speeding, a DUI, or a car crash. These violations will put points on your license, increase your monthly insurance cost for several years, and make it difficult to switch to other insurance companies. If you have a clean driving record, you can receive deductibles. If you are in a car accident, you may be able to pay less out-of-pocket expenses if you have a clean driving record. Some insurance companies offer accident forgiveness if you avoid an accident over a certain time period. SUSPENDED LICENSE If a traffic violation is severe, such as excessive speeding or too many violations in a short period of time, your license could be suspended. Your license suspension varies depending on the severity of your traffic violations. For example, your license could be suspended for six months or up to a year. Contact your traffic attorney for more information about how long your suspension is and what you can do in the meantime. COMMERCIAL DRIVERS It’s incredibly important that you have a clean driving record because your career depends on it. It also helps your employer have less driver turnover. Traffic violator’s school (TVS) is an option that some people take advantage of when getting their citation forgiven. But as a commercial driver, you are unable to go to TVS if your traffic ticket occurred in a commercial vehicle. If you receive a violation in your personal vehicle, you may be approved by the traffic court to enroll in TVS. If you decide to go this route, TVS will not conceal your ticket from your employer or insurance company. It’s difficult to try and get your ticket dismissed or lowered on your own. That’s why it’s important to contact a traffic attorney. If you’ve received a traffic ticket, allow your friends at Bigger & Harman to assist you! We can try to lower your charges in traffic court, attempt to get a dismissal, or raise the “reasonable doubt” card. So give us a call today, and we will look at your case.

Self-Empowering Motivation Is a ‘Shortcut’ 2 Scientific Methods to Stop Forgetting

Why do we supplement our diets with omega-3s and do puzzle games to strengthen the health of our brains? The most important reason is to prevent memory loss. However, in order to enhance our memory and lessen the instances of forgetting both big and little things, these brain-based strategies can help!

Researchers at Nagoya University in Japan have found that mastery-approach goals (i.e., developing your own competence) enhance memory of newly learned material, whereas performance-approach goals (i.e., comparing yourself to others) can create “tenuous connections” in memory. The authors concluded the study by saying, “Motivation factors can influence inhibition and forgetting.” So, it might be time to ask yourself: What motivates you to learn new things, and how can you change your approach? NO. 2: ASK WHY. A 2016 study from the European Journal of Social Psychology found that thinking more

abstractly can actually reduce memory issues. The study examined how levels of “construal” (examination and interpretation) can affect memory, and their results suggested that “abstract thinking can eliminate retrieval- induced forgetting because of relational processing, demonstrating the roles of the levels of construal on memory inhibition.” In other words, if you know the “how” and “why” behind things you intend to remember, you’ll be more likely to remember them. If you’ve been forgetful lately, maybe it’s time to rethink how you approach new information — according to researchers, a new source of motivation or critical thinking mindset could make all the difference!

NO. 1: AIM FOR MASTERY, NOT RELATIVE PERFORMANCE.

When losing weight, some people find it helpful to stop checking Facebook or Instagram to prevent self-comparisons. Similarly, your brain forgets what’s important when you compare your performance to others.
