(formerly known as Mannkraft) is one of the leading indepen- dent corrugated packaging producers in the Northeastern United States. Kampack Closing NJ Facility, To Open New Company In DE Kampack Inc. is closing its facility in Newark New Jersey, according to a federal WARN notice, potentially costing nearly 100 workers their jobs. The company said in the notice that up to 97 employees face termination by the end of August as the company ceases oper- ations. However, the notice said a new com- pany, Delaware Corrugated Packaging, would be created in Dover, Delaware, and Kampack expects 20-22 of its workers to accept em- ployment there. The notice said jobs and benefits would be unchanged for transferring employees, but salary rates would be “slightly lower” for hourly workers. Union workers would receive benefits including vacation pay, severance and pension rights, among others. Non-union workers would also receive certain benefits, including severance.

Director Amy Volk, shared the story of how their focus on continuous improvement has allowed them to grow their business, pursue new markets and expand their capabilities. Equipment & Automation In September 2020, Volk installed a new JS 1228 50-inch flexo fold- er gluer with rotary die cutter. “We have the first JS machine in the country and that’s something we are really proud of,” said Derek. The investment in the JS 1228 has paid off. Volk said that the print quality is flawless and the color printing has allowed the company to pursue new markets, such as e-commerce. “The increase in efficiency since the installation, has been massive,” added Amy. “An order that used to take four to five hours, now takes less than an hour. It’s amazing what we are able to pump out with the new machine.” Also included in the nearly $4.5m investment was the ancillary equipment, including Automatän AutoFeed and AutoStak robots, Sys- tec Conveyor and an upgraded waste scrap system. “The AutoFeed has been running great with nearly zero downtime.
