Boston Is Back! The Bustling City Is Waking Up

I recently read an article in a local newspaper with a headline that caught my attention. It said, “Welcome back to Boston.” The article suggests that the city is quickly opening up again, and the streets are getting busier and busier. In my travels to the local Boston courts and various events, I also noticed that people are out and about, and tourists are returning. So, the newspaper was correct — Boston is back! To be out and about on those first few really nice days of the year is something people with year-round good weather never experience. A few weeks ago, I was making my way back from Fenway Park, and as I was strolling the city, the sidewalks were filled with people wandering into and out of stores. No matter where I glanced, there was something going on. I could smell all kinds of food on my walk — from the local pizzerias to doughnut shops. I heard people chatting, laughing, and clinking their silverware and glasses as they enjoyed a meal. Boston is a city rich in history, culture, and attractions. There is something for everyone to see here, no matter what stage of life you’re in. Whether you’re a young teenager, an upcoming adult, single, married, have kids, or are an older adult, Boston has something for you to enjoy. I’ve lived here my entire life, and the city never gets old. I feel someone could live several lifetimes here without getting bored. I highly recommend heading downtown to check out the sights. You can figure out what you want to do when you get there. If you’re the type of person who needs some structure in your leisure time, you can take a tour. I don’t mean the Freedom Trail touristy tour – although I did take a duck boat tour when the kids were small and enjoyed it. (They’re not just for championship parades).

There are many themed tours that only take an hour or two. There are narrated walking tours. You can check out FreeToursByFoot.com, which has lots of tours you can book and decide what you pay at the end. There is also BostonByFoot.com. Here are some other tours available without ever touching the Freedom Trail:

You can go on an organized pub crawl or make up your own pub crawl. And don’t forget chocolate tours, museum tours, and waterfront bike tours. Don’t feel like mingling? There are also self-guided audio tours. Continued on Page 3 ...

UNLOCK YOUR ‘HIGH PERFORMANCE HABITS’ AND GAIN LONG-TERM BUSINESS SUCCESS!

Did “Atomic Habits” by James Clear change your life in 2018? Was “Tiny Habits” by BJ Fogg one of your top books of 2019? If you’ve read those two bestsellers, you’re a step ahead of most entrepreneurs. But you might still be sleeping on one of the original books on the power of habits, which is packed with gems you can’t find anywhere else: Brendon Burchard’s 2017 read “High Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way.” Brendon Burchard is a legend in the world of personal development coaching. Oprah.com called him “one of the most successful online trainers in history,” and more than 2 million people have taken his online courses. But with the help of your local library, you can start learning his secrets to success without paying a cent. In “High Performance Habits,” Burchard recommends six specific habits that will help you reach your personal and business goals. He calls this the HP6 model.

As you can see, these aren’t your basic healthy habits like “drink water” and “get eight hours of sleep”! Burchard calls the first three “personal habits” and the last three “social habits,” and in the book he uses real-life examples to explain each habit. He also offers daily exercises that will help you form them. It takes multiple keys to unlock each habit. For example, to demonstrate courage, Burchard says you must “share your truth and your ambitions” by telling someone about your goals every day. But that alone isn’t enough. To truly form the habit, you also need to reframe struggle and zero in on someone worth fighting for — whether that’s your team, your clients, or your children. “High Performance Habits” is a business book, but it’s also a personal development book. It will force you to dive deep into your strengths, weaknesses, and motivations to unlock your real high-performance potential. You can use it to fit more tasks into a day, increase your confidence, or become a better leader — whatever your business needs! Pick up a copy today to see why Andrew Burns of Medium calls this “the epitome of a book that needs more than one read.”

1. Seek clarity. 2. Generate energy. 3. Raise necessity.

4. Increase productivity. 5. Develop influence. 6. Demonstrate courage.

How Are Scars Assessed for Value? 4 Components Insurance Companies Look For

When you file a claim regarding a scar from an accident, you can be compensated for your pain and suffering. But how do insurance companies assess the value of your injury? Here are the four things insurance companies look at when determining how much to compensate you for your injury. 1. Location Where on your body the scar is located is an important factor. The more visible the scar, the greater the claim’s value will be to the insurance company. If your scar is in an area that is typically concealed, the value of the claim is likely to decrease. 2. Size The size of your scar also affects the value of your settlement. If you were to have a bigger scar, the value of your settlement would likely increase. But the shape also matters. The shape your scar heals is important because scars are

more likely to heal and fade quicker if it was a smooth cut. The scar is less likely to fade if it’s a bumpy and rigid cut. 3. Permanency Some scars aren’t considered permanent until they are at least a year old. Because of the size and shape, some scars can shrink and fade over time, whereas others do not. But just because the scar has faded or shrunk doesn’t mean there aren’t lasting effects. You could still experience pain even if the scar is no longer there. It’s suggested that you go to your doctor’s office or physical therapist to examine where you received your injury to see if you are left with any disability. This can add more value to your settlement even if the scar heals. 4. Your Occupation and Age For insurance companies, people who work in high-visibility occupations where you interact with others regularly have a higher settlement

value than lower-visibility jobs. Likewise, when you receive your scar, the younger you are has a higher settlement value than if you’re older. This is because younger people will need to live longer with their injuries and scars than older adults. If you or a loved one have found themselves in an accident and received an injury, allow your friends at Brooks and Crowley to help. We have experience in valuing claims for people who have suffered from scarring. Let us help you get the settlement you deserve.

The city is constantly changing. People from Boston years ago would look at the town today and notice something completely different. We have new buildings, stores, bars, and apartment complexes developing every day. For better or worse, if I were to give you directions somewhere, I would likely reference businesses that no longer exist. A local would know what I am talking about, but a tourist would have no clue of the landmarks I referenced. Because of all the new sights to see and explore, Boston is the perfect place to visit. You don’t even need to schedule your trip while you’re here. You can play everything by ear and still have a great time.

You couldn’t help but pick up a few fun facts along the way.

Whether you live out in the Boston suburbs or are visiting from out of state, this summer is the perfect time to come for your vacation or staycation. Boston residents, too, have many things to explore. There are tours I haven’t even gone to yet that are still on my list — and I live right down the street. The R-rated Boston Strangler tour, visiting JFK’s love nests, and even the Rum, Riots, Writers, and Revolution tour are a great way to learn something new and hang out with friends. If you happen to get hungry during your visit, you can taste a slice of Italy with the Italian Pizzeria Tour. Enjoy free concerts held nightly on the Hatch Shell and Boston Harbor Hotel. As the weather turns and the city comes back to life, be sure you make your way here. I wish you and your family happy and safe travels this summer. Maybe I’ll run into you downtown!
