BWC Proposal Wapping Wharf

Tender Provision of Waste Management

Services for Cargo 1 & 2 Wapping Wharf, Bristol

Proposal No: CWW/05/22/002/PF Prepared for: Cargo 1 & 2, Wapping Wharf Prepared by: Bristol Waste Company Dated: 20 May 2022

Working in partnership to deliver sustainable waste solutions

Company Introduction / Overview Bristol Waste Company and its sister Company, Bristol Workplace Services (FM Services) are Bristol City Council wholly owned social enterprises providing vital public services to residents and businesses on behalf of the Council. Set up in 2017, the Companies work together to deliver cost effective and first class services to all in the local region.

Equipment We use exclusively Capital Compactors for all of our Baler & Compactor needs. They are the market leaders in the UK for waste handling equipment and supply all the major supermarkets amongst other large brands. We have a few options here which we can discuss going forward :-

Both Companies are based on a strong set of values which revolve around doing good for our communities, our people and the environment so its very much a “profit for purpose” we aim to generate. All surplus funds we make go back to Bristol City Council for reinvestment back into the local community. Since our Inception, we’ve always looked to innovate and ways to become more sustainable to retain our position as one of the leading UK Councils for recycling and sustainability whilst we seize opportunities for growth to our front line services and help create more employment opportunities for local residents. We now employ over 840 locally based staff and have over 240 environmentally friendly vehicles in the area providing these vital public and business services. We can provide a full waste management solution and FM Services proposition whilst creating social value in the area with the services we deliver to businesses. Our social worth to the City is calculated to be £21.4m We strongly believe that our “big enough to cope small enough to care” philosophy has proved highly successful in achieving our customers sustainability needs and objectives with our bespoke solutions to meet all individual needs. Both organisations have a number of established successful corporate partnerships and supply chains locally and nationally that help create closed loop solution for our customers in the ever evolving marketplace. For example, our plastics are recycled into bin bags for our Operational staff. As a result of the above approach, we can confidently state and provide reporting to confirm the site will be Zero to Landfill going forward. Paul Fitzgerald, Head of Commercial Business Development will be the key Account Manager for this contract and comes with 8 years Waste Management experience and 20 years experience of working in Bristol at Senior or board level. Service With the changes in Commercial Waste Presentation in the City by Bristol City Council, we now have trucks in the City Centre area 7 days a week. Please see attached documentation confirming this. This level of service is unmatched by our competitors and we now have a 45% market share in the area and this is increasing on a monthly basis. We can therefore remove waste off site very quickly which will reduce any environmental issues and less vermin to the area. Our crews work between 6am – 2pm and we can guarantee all collections will be made between the window of 6am to 9am as needed.

1. Purchasing the equipment on site from ACM Environmental if still in good working order.

2. Remove either the Baler or Compactor, or both, totally and collect the materials on a daily basis (Our “Cardboard Only” and General Waste refuse truck is in the City Centre 7 days a week so this saves on site costs but will increase truck movements on site ) 3. Purchase or lease of two machines from Capital Compactors :- - CP30 Portable Waste Compactor with Bin Lift - C605 Mini Baler We would always recommend full factory refurbished machines due to their reliability and reduced costs. These machines can be purchased outright or leased via a 3 year or 5 year agreement and come with a full warranty and
