Chiro1Source - September 2021

Meet the Chiro1Source Family! SOME LABOR DAY LOVE FOR MY TEAM

It’s almost Labor Day, and for me, that doesn’t just signal the end of summer — it

she handles all of the accounting and a lot of the customer service, too. She’s also Bennett’s chief supervisor when he’s here in the office with her! RANDY Randy was a CEO and venture capitalist before he joined our team as a business consultant 10 years ago. As funny as it sounds, my dad met Randy at a chiropractic convention where he had a booth — even though he’d never seen a chiropractor! Dad insisted that Randy get an adjustment ASAP or he’d spill the beans to every booth visitor. They became friends on the spot, and Randy has been helping us with marketing and business planning ever since. KAREN (MY MOTHER-IN-LAW) Marah’s mom, Karen, joined our team four years ago as a warehouse manager and customer service representative. She was a nursing home administrator for 30 years, and caring for people is in her blood. In fact, it was her idea to include hand-written notes on your packing lists! ANNA Last but not least, Anna came on board as warehouse support for us in 2020. Gen Z kids get a bad rap, but Anna has an amazing work ethic and does a great job packing orders and receiving inventory. She came through for us when Marah was out on maternity leave, and at her interview, Hershey and Rock liked her right away, so I knew she would fit right in. I should probably also give an honorable team member mention to Bennett. He’s in the office with us pretty much every day. Anna even came up with the idea of using a stamp of his foot on our packing lists in the warehouse, so if he’s not a team member, he’s at least a mascot! Some people might get sick of working with their families every day because they’re going home to the same people, but I think it’s a blessing. Every second I get with my son, wife, stepmom, and mother-in-law is precious, and I consider the rest of our team family, too. I think there’s something magical about family business. There’s a lot of love in our office, and I hope you can feel it. After all, as a Chiro1Source customer, you’re part of our family, too.

also reminds me that I have the best team of “laborers” in the world! I’ll never take them for granted because back in the day, Chiro1Source was

a one-man and one-boy show, just me and my dad

selling pillows out of our tiny trailer home. As a 12-year-old, I still had plenty of time to go to school and be a kid, but Dad and I were never more than a few feet from the phone or the inventory.

Those were crazy days, but it isn’t just the two of us anymore. My wife, Marah, and I purchased the company from my dad and my stepmom, Julie, a few years ago, and we run it with the help of our awesome teammates. Most of the folks who answer the phone, pack the boxes, and pay the bills here are literally family! JULIE (MY STEPMOM) Julie has been with our team since 2005, and the company wouldn’t be the same without her. She handles inventory management and customer service, and she’s truly passionate about the chiropractic profession. If you ever get a handwritten card from our team, odds are good that Julie wrote it! MARAH (MY WIFE) Marah has a business degree and planned to become a marriage and family counselor, but in 2011, she started pitching in here while going to school. One thing led to another, and we stole her away from the counseling profession. Today, she’s our company vice president, and

Happy Labor Day!

well-being, and as you head into the darker, chillier months, worsening weather and shorter days can make staying in shape more of a chore than a joy. But that doesn’t mean you’re powerless. With a few tricks, you can thrive through the cold season. Finding ways to stay active while cooped up inside has never been easier. Thanks to the pandemic, online exercise courses, at-home workouts, and remote Zumba classes grew in popularity and are still going strong. If you embraced these for your summer workouts to avoid the heat, you can continue that routine this fall and winter and keep up your exercise, mixing it up if one course gets stale.

A little over a year ago, a pair of chiropractors reached out to tell us about a flip-flop that was flying off their clinic’s shelves. The shoe was called Archies, and as soon as we read up on it, we knew we should stock it. THE STORY OF ARCHIES Most flip-flops have no arch support, but Archies changes the game. The shoes were designed by an Australian physiotherapist

to combat problems like plantar fasciitis, bunions, ankle issues, and lower back pain. Archies are just as sleek and stylish as normal flip flops, but they have a high arch that supports the foot, aligns the patient’s posture, and prevents pronation. They’re a great alternative for patients who don’t want to sweat in sneakers with orthotic inserts all summer. But how can you sell them all year round? 3 FOOLPROOF WAYS TO SELL Fortunately, Archies’ U.S. wholesale manager, Rob Gilliam, has a stockpile of tips to make sales easy. First, he recommends loading up on Archies’ bestselling colors (black, navy, khaki, and taupe) as well as some brighter shades. Then, use these three sales tactics to help your patients see the benefits of Archies.

Similarly, winter provides a great time to focus on a new type of fitness goal, like building muscle in an indoor facility or taking martial arts classes at the gym. It doesn’t matter what you do; what matters is that you do it. Stay active! While it’s a bummer that you can’t go trail running or biking, any exercise is better than none. And don’t wait to get started: Add that “winter workout” into your weekly routine now. Not only will it help make the transition a little easier when you can’t go for your morning run, but also, if you’re trying a new sport, activity, or exercise, it gives you a buffer in case you decide it’s not for you after all. Don’t let bad weather or fewer daylight hours be an excuse for less exercise. Your brain will thank you, and who knows? You might actually have fun too!

OU CAN SELL FLIP-FLOPS ALL YEAR ROUND! ote Archies in the Fall and Winter

1. Ask your patients to change into Archies during treatment. There’s a reason luxury resorts and spas let visitors lounge in their fluffy robes before buying them. Those

robes sell themselves, and Archies do the same! “When folks come in wearing flip flops or other flat-soled shoes, experiencing that arch support makes them instant believers in Archies,” Rob says.

2. Promote the perks of wearing flip-flops indoors. “Physical therapists, chiropractors, and podiatrists sell Archies throughout the winter months as slippers to wear in the house. A lot of folks have hardwood floors, tile floors, or even harder carpets and don’t want to wear orthotic inserts at home,” Rob says. Archies are especially helpful for plantar fasciitis patients to slip on first thing in the morning when their pain is the worst. 3. Leverage the appeal of flip-flops for vacations and community spaces. Flip-flops are ideal for trips to the indoor pool or yoga studio. They’re also perfect for vacations! If you live in a cold climate, promote Archies as the secret to a pain-free getaway.

The Warehouse Is Nearly Done!

To learn more about Archies and order today, visit Chiro1Source.com.

Before I really dive into the warehouse update, I want to offer up a HUGE thank-you. If you’ve called to place an order in the last few months and heard barking dogs, banging, or whirring drills in the background, the team and I appreciate that you handle the noise with grace. We’ve been working in a construction zone for most of the year, and our warehouse expansion is almost finished! As I write this, the walls of the warehouse are up, the roof is attached, and our storage space has doubled in size. All that’s left is the electrical work, an update to the HVAC system, and the installation of a roofing ridge cap to officially connect the new and old buildings. I can’t wait! I’m used to hearing birds land on the roof over my office, but after months of listening to 180-pound guys walking around up there, even dropping things loudly enough to make me duck, I’m glad the end is in sight. Our drivers are already loving the brand-new driveway loop, and we can’t wait to use the extra storage to stash more inventory for you. When the project is complete, we’ll be able to send out your orders even more quickly and keep hot-ticket items in stock longer! It’ll be a huge win for all of us. Keep an eye on this newsletter for a final update when the big day arrives, and thank you again for your patience!

POSITIVE MARKETING IN 2021 YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

Positive marketing is a tactic that has been around for a long while, but in today’s world, it might be more powerful than ever. We’re constantly surrounded by terrible news about our nation, society, and the entire world, and people can definitely use more positive forces and content in their lives. Will your brand be there for them? What are other brands doing to provide positive marketing to their customers? EMPOWERMENT AND INCLUSIVITY In the 2000s, positive marketing was all about looking at the world through rose- tinted glasses. A great example of this is McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It” campaign. It’s not a bad thing to create a wonderful, positive image of your brand and the world it lives in — so long as you’re keeping up with people’s idea of a better world, too.

is “empowerment”? When you empower someone, you’re likely doing two things: making them feel accepted and encouraging them to succeed. Doing this helps imbue them with positive energy, and it even makes the world feel like a better place for a little while. That’s the ultimate thinking behind a lot of inclusive empowerment and positivity marketing today. And why wouldn’t you want to shop at a brand that makes you feel great? According to Accenture, over 41% of consumers “have shifted their business away from a retailer that does not reflect how important [identity and diversity] is to them.” The same study showed that 29% of consumers are willing to switch brands if they don’t showcase enough diversity. If you’re not sure where to start, try showing support for local support groups, women’s shelters, or free mental health

clinics — it’s a great, positive way of supporting your community’s well-being!

BUILD INFLUENCE THROUGH POSITIVITY If your brand produces positive, feel-good content, people will tend to listen. Make sure to optimize your marketing by using social media to regularly post content relevant to both your business and your local efforts. Building engagement takes a lot of time and effort, but it can pay off in massive ways. You never know when a business’s content will go viral. Consumers are exceedingly picky in 2021, but positivity will always win the day. Show your customers that they’re valued, and many will make sure to return the favor.

Today, positivity is closely related to empowerment and inclusivity. What
