HE YEAR 2020 HAS changed the world around us. Now, more than ever, we have in any way experience many things

brought by this global pandemic— where days are numbered and often emotional considering the news and updates you’ve heard all over social media platforms and even television. The diversion is all we need. Thanks to Marcus Lukusa’s literary works that have brought life in a dreary world. Born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kazungul author Marc has known from his younger years that fantasy offers children a rehearsed exploration of the too often harsh world—depicting that it gets real each day. What with his storytelling as his main game. In an article in stampa.global, he said “It has been my world since I was a child, I used to enjoy recounting stories to friends and family.” He recalled of his wonderful times in childhood when he’s a huge fan of Star Wars , Lord of the Rings , and Arkadia . That has been the epiphany of his written words, transforming each words to real-life scenarios. “I wanted to become a writer in the future, write great stories and screen plays,” he said. “What inspired me was the love for fiction, for justice, and hope that in any evil situation, the good always ends up winning,” he expounded. Started writing at around 18-19 years old, Marc is determined to publish a book. The first one is written in French, then years later after his college, he decided to write his book in Kazungul Series. Here’s a trivia of his Kazungul book and why the name became such. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer and what inspired you? It all started when I was very young and it was more on a story telling side, moral count of stories to my brothers, sisters and friends, in the beginning it was mainly stories from heroes in the Bible from Sunday school, then fiction stories and after that I started coming up with my own, this was from 7 to 13 years old, then I knew I wanted to become a writer in the future, write great stories and

good always end up winning. I have loved science fiction since I was very young, fantastic stories and this mainly was the root to my inspiration. How long does it take you to write a book? And what is your work schedule when you’re writing? I’m writing, this helps me record quickly any given idea on the spot, and when I have time in the evening or early morning I put it down in the manuscript, my work hours are normal and my writing don’t interfere with it. I would love to get more time dedicated to my writing though as I have many projects on the go for 2 years now, but I guess that time will come as this writing carrier becomes more and more solid for me. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk? I love to write when everything is quiet, the house, the city and everything and this is usually in the night, I really like writing over night and all night long till sun rise. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books? It comes from my imagination, from myths and legends, I’m fascinated by ancient times, ancient civilization, mythologies, stars and planets, the universe, supernatural, alien life, these are things I let my imagination use to bring out my writings. When did you write your first book and how old were you? I wrote my first book when I was around 18-19 years old. It has never been published and it was written in French. Years later after college, I decided to write the first book in the Kazungul series in 2012- 2013, that when Kazungul Book 1 – Blood ties - Awakening on the Ancestral Curse was written to be published in 2014. What do you like to do when you’re not writing? I like to ride speed bikes, do some martial art training, go fishing, star gazing

and play video games when I have time, and mostly be at home spending time with my wife and my daughter. What does your family think of your writing? My family is very supportive on my writing, they believe in my dreams and are waiting on the big day when my work will finally come to shine, they have enjoyed the books, and they are waiting on other project to finish quickly so they can get a new read. They have been one of my number one fans. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in writing a book? I couldn’t believe myself to be writing these books, my imagination surprised me, that is why I would like to encourage anyone who has an idea, an inspiration toward doing anything good, never to doubt themselves, you may never know where that could lead you, this was also something I find out when I was doing competitive martial art, I could have never know that I could one day

be a national champion when I started or even when I entered my very first national competition. Fear in nothing when you have an idea that is real, pursue it no matter what and believe in your dreams. Do you have any suggestions to help other writers to become a better? If so, what are they? What I can say is that writing is not about trying to tell what people want to hear but it is to tell what you feel in the best of your abilities to caption the attention of your readers, be original and put down your feelings as you see them in your imagination, flow with it and clarify it so that others can catch what you saw yourself. What do you think makes a good story? What really makes a good story is the way it is told or written, it should be intriguing and clear, not too confusing while keeping a mystery for the readers, they should know where it leads but not know how it will end.

Learning he has a hidden identity Raymond strives to discover the truth. There is a catchy plot to Kazungul and the writing is handled nicely enough to provide a vivid backdrop for setting and scene. Raymond is a well developed character and is believable, and I really felt for him during difficult moments for him in the book. There is mythology involved but handled in an original enough way. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I’d pick up a copy of something else written by Lukusa.”
