COATINGS | General information
Coating Packages
Lens coatings must combine sometimes contradicting features. They must protect lenses against:
• •
mechanical impact chemical impact
• •
thermal impact
dust & dirt
Optiswiss developed its own propietary special coating layer systems to meet those requirements. The design and interaction of these multiple layers ensure a long lifetime and brilliant performance.
Hard Coating - scratch resistance and
protection against abrasion
AR Coatings - minimize reflection
Anti-Static Coating
Hydrophobic Coating (Cleancoat)
Easy Cleaning Hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings guarantee easy cleaning. Key is the contact angle. Multiple coating layers with a higher contact angle show better results rejecting oil and water (lotus effect)
Advantages
• Significant reduction of glare • Contrast-enhancing • High transparency • Scrtach resistance and resilience • Concentration enhancing • More efficiency and precison while working or during leisure activities
COATINGS | Lens Care
Care Recommendations
• Use special lens cleaner and additionally with cold water
• Dry using a microfiber cleaning cloth
• Always store in a hard glass case to avoid scratches • Do not put glasses in your pocket, lenses could easily scratch • Avoid exposing lenses to extreme temperatures
Temperature resilience · Avoid exposing organic lenses to extreme temperatures or temperature differences. the durability of coatings could be negatively impacted.
· Average temperatures under 60°C should not impact lenses. Temperature impact differs
with different coatings, humidity, exposure time or possible surface damage.
· As a rule of thumb: Do not expose lenses to more than 80°C. It increases possible damage
to coatings. For example: These extreme temperatures can be reached in a sauna or on the
dashboard of a car.
· Because of different structures of lens and coating strong temperature swings can lead to
stress fractures of coatings. Due to these stress fractures coatings could peel off at a later
stage.
· No negative impact is known due to exposure to extreme cold temperatures.
COATINGS | Optiplas® O+
The first multiple coating package for brilliant and natural vision without a noticeable rest-reflex, Optiplas O+ features 2 innovations:
1. Rest-reflex of 0.2% for maximum brillance and transmission Optiswiss uses High Graduation Systems (HGS) for extremely high precision of the multilayer set-up. Result: Rest-reflex is reduced to a fantastic 0.2% - maximum brilliance and most natural vision.

2. Color and contrast recognition - Sensitivity of Eye Our eyes react differently to colors and light intensity. Both parameters, color and brightness, trigger different reactions. This is caused by the different receptors.
The chart shows the pattern of light and color reception (Sensitivity of Eye). The eye is most sensitive at 560 nm during the daytime and at 530 nm at nightime.
Relative sensitivity go the eye during daylight.

COATINGS | Diverse Optiplas
Optiplas ®SHA Optiplas® SHA was developed together with the Institue of Physics of the University of Basel and Research and Development laboratory SATIS, the world leading manufacturer of coating equipment. Optiplas® SHA consists of 4 coatings: hard coating, multilayer super AR coating and a top coating for easy cleaning. It also includes a backside UV protective layer.

Edging Optiplas® Coatings
Due to the hydrophobic andf oleophobic featutres lenses msut be edged using the following precautions:
Use of additional protective adhesive pads is necessary. Use additional pads on front and backside of lens. Lenses must be edged within a few hours after applying the pads. Otherwise residue of pads might stick to lenses. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to remove pads. Damage of lenses might occur. We recommend edging lenses with reduced feed rate. Best precaution to avoid axis slippage: use our contact spray Lens Grip.

COATINGS | Anti-Slippage
Lens Grip – the best solution to avoid slippage
Test result: 96 % of all lenses dir not show a single degree of slippage
25 cm
Usage recommendations Keep a distance of exactly 25 cm! Spray the lenses once with a fine mist. Create small droplets, not a solid coverage. Let dry for a minimum of 2 minutes. Now block and edge the lens. After de-blocking use water or denatured alcohol to clean the lens.
Standard solutions
Protective layer Lenses with a sealed surface were sometimes hard to measure the exact power.
Anti-torsion pad Test result: 41 % of lenses showed slippage between 1° and 4°.
Advantage
• Minimize slippage • Best adhesion and protection of surfaces • Easy re-edging • Lenses are treated after measuring - easy determination of exact power • Worry-free edging
