The latest news and updates from MADD Southwest Florida
I N TH I S I S SUE
Please use your imagination and picture a normal, run- of-the-mill day. You are shopping with your spouse at Miramar Outlets. Your spouse urges you to tag along. He's shopping for a pair of running shoes. You are bored while he tries on shoes; however, you are trying to look interested. Secretly, you are looking forward to finishing the shopping trip because this shopping trip is for him not you. Then, like thousands of other times, you hear that familiar ring tone telling you a text was sent to you. Grateful for a reprieve from having to feign interest in your spouse's running shoe decisions, you look at the text. What comes next is disbelief, confusion and utter panic. You try to look normal. We are taught not to show emotion in society. Keep calm and pretend that nothing is wrong. All the while, your chest is caving in, heart is beating fast, eyes are seeing stars and feet aren't holding you upright. WALKING THE PATH OF GRIEF

The text changes everything in your life. Grief cripples you. It has ended the joy of dancing on the beach and everything that once held joy in your life. Every time you think it ends, it begins again. This time different from the last. There is no straight path to grief, nor is there an end to the path.
Offering support groups
