DallasHR is an association for Dallas area human resource professionals. With more than 2,300 engaged members in 2019, we are the third largest SHRM affiliate chapter providing innovative education, business exchanges and networking opportunities for area HR professionals who live and work in Dallas and Collin Counties. DallasHR powers one of the largest regional human resources events in the U.S., The HRSouthwest Con- ference. Held annually for nearly 80 years, our Con- ference is designated the official State of Texas SHRM Conference hosting more than 2,400 practitioners, speakers and exhibitors in 2019.

Our Mission To serve our members and partners by providing superior development offerings, quality resources and valuable networking opportunities that enhance and elevate the competency, reputation, reach and visibility of the HR profession. Our Vision To be the premier resource for advancing and connecting the regional HR community.

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

MEMBERS FIRST! It is hard to believe another year has passed since our inaugural Community Report was launched. We had another very busy year in 2019 with a great deal of growth and focus on serving the needs of our Membership! The year started with the celebration of our 80th Anniversary as a chapter. Marketing and social media awareness initiatives were set in motion to help promote and celebrate our 80 years with the entire HR community. We also took the opportunity in our 80th year to step back and review our organizational structure and made some changes including the consol- idation of our Chapter and Conference boards into one DallasHR Operations Board launching on January 1 of 2020. We grew our chapter education offerings by expanding our DallasHR programs to half-day seminars offering three continuing education hours and we held strong on our commitment to build a new Online Learning Center (OLC) by launching the Center in November. The OLC now houses 200+ educational sessions in eight tracks available anytime a member or prospec- tive member needs access. Our signature event, The HRSouthwest Conference, continued to grow and gain approval for our participants. With 1,412 attendees present, we provided 129 concurrent

sessions and 30 Knowledge Hub sessions fea- turing 20-minute learning modules. Our attend- ee satisfaction score remained high at 98%! We continued our commitment in Collin CountyHR with five educational programs and five networking opportunities around Collin County. DallasHR members who live or work in Collin County continue to have easier access to DallasHR programs. We finished the year with 2,295 members (a new record) representing a 5.4% growth over 2018. We have truly established a strong pres- ence in the HR Community and offer a variety of programs to keep our MEMBERS FIRST! Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who helped make 2019 an incredible success! We look forward to the future.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAPTER PRESIDENT

What a fantastic start we had in 2019! Celebrating 80 years of DallasHR and asking our members for the top 80 reasons #whyijoinedDHR. Our members came through

when the decision was made to increase DallasHR educational opportunities to full day workshops and increase Collin County meetings to half day workshops. The strategy is intended to provide our membership with the educational opportunities

with a deluge of reasons for Dal- lasHR membership, like reason #62, “You’ll network with other HR professionals.” Or reason #28, “It’s a local resource for recertification credits.” Or how about reason #1, “You’ll advance the value of HR.” Speaking of 80 years old, did you know that DallasHR is 9 years old- er than SHRM? Our theme was leadership and ser- vice and our focus was a strategic effort to keep DallasHR moving forward, and the results are amazing. How about on demand online education! DallasHR partnered with the HR Education Network and now offers an ever-growing list of sessions on demand. What a complement to our existing HRSouthwest Conference content. Membership continued to reach historic heights in 2019 and I expect the growth to con- tinue in 2020 and beyond. DallasHR continued bringing premier education opportunities with half day workshops in Dallas and educational luncheons in Collin County throughout the year. Our last major effort came near the end of 2019

and it’s a year I’ll never forget. But our year could not have been successful without our hard-working staff and amazing volunteers. Thank you all for making this year a success. Our Executive Director, Brad Shanklin, asked a question at our 80-year celebration in 2019. He said, “In 1939, at that first meeting, I wonder where that small group of personnel managers thought this organization might go?” I won- der…what will DallasHR look like in 2099?

The HRSouthwest Conference The HRSouthwest Conference powered by DallasHR

was founded in 1941 and is recognized today as the official State of Texas SHRM Conference and is one of the largest regional human resources events in the United States. Hosting more than 2,300 participants annu- ally, the conference provides human resources professionals and those who supply products and services to the HR industry a place to network, attend education sessions, earn recertification credits and get business done with product and service providers.

During the 2.5-day event, attendees chose from more than 100 education sessions earning 16.75 recertification credits, they met with over 180 exhibitors and networked with peers and colleagues during receptions, celebrations and networking events.

Education Events In 2019, we extended our Education Events in Dallas to half-days with morning education sessions before the traditional lunch presentation; allowing you to earn more recertifica- tion credit hours in one sitting. A total of 58 face-to-face Education Events were held and during the course of the year, 3,706 HR professionals registered for live Education Events. Look for more opportunities to fit your schedule with expanded days of education in Collin County and full day events in Dallas next year.

Round Tables Round Table Meetings grew in popularity in 2019. We hosted 30 meetings offering 22 recertification credits . With meeting sponsors and more speakers offering credit hours for their content, these meetings are a great way to connect with your peers and work toward your HRCI or SHRM recerti- fication. Round Table Meetings are an hour long (typically over the lunch hour) cover- ing topics in a specialized discipline, such as Benefits & Compensation, Employee Engagement, HR Department of One, and more. DallasHR also hosts several seminars and multi-day meetings.

Online Education In addition to face-to-face Education Events, both members and nonmembers can maximize their time by earning recertification credit hours online! DallasHR offers two different learning platforms for on-demand content starting as low as $19 for a la carte sessions.

The Online Learning Center connects you to recorded HRSouthwest Conference education sessions. With more than 200 face-to-face education sessions available from The HRSouthwest Conference in 2018 and 2019, online learning is a great way to “sit in on” a class you didn’t have time for or to repeat one of your favorite sessions. Available anytime, at your convenience, these sessions include the presenters voice synchronized to their PowerPoint Presentation.

We partnered with The HR Education Network, (HREN) for even more content to view online to help you keep up with your certification. HREN education includes a live presenter and sessions range in length from 1-4 hours.

ADVANCING YOUR CAREER

Recertification Credit Hours DallasHR is authorized by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP. Credit hours are also provided for those earning HR Certification Institute ® (HRCI) designations for PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification credits. A total of 132 recertification credits were offered for face-to-face events in 2019.

Tracking Recertification Credit Hours New in 2019, DallasHR members can keep track of recertification credits earned for attending Education Events. Once you attend an Education Event, recertification credit hours are au- tomatically added to your HRConnect profile. No more looking for paper confirmations and consulting two year old sticky notes. Download a single report detailing your Activity IDs and the number of hours earned from SHRM and HRCI all in one location.

Preparing for Certification Deciding to earn your HR Certification is a big step. DallasHR can help you achieve your goals with our bi-annual Certification Test Prep Course. The popular course provides HR professionals with the competency to prepare for HR Certification Institute ® or Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) exams. Partici- pants meet nine times over the course of three months. In 2019, 105 HR professionals participated in the Prep Course.

In Transition Assistance DallasHR offers opportunities for those in transition or for those who are thinking about a job change. Job-Link meetings feature a variety of Education Events on topics to help with your job pursuit and offers a great opportu- nity to network with other attendees and share leads and support one another during the job search process. In 2019, 342 members and nonmembers participated in twelve Job-Link meetings.

Career Center Whether you are a job seeker or job poster, the DallasHR Career Center is your one-stop-shop for jobs. With more than 14,000 visitors to the site and over 48,000 page views in 2019, the Career Center was used by 507 new job seekers who took advantage of the streamlined application process includ- ing free resume posting and automatic notification of “matched” new jobs. And 83 different employers were able to see more than 1,060 searchable resumes from the DallasHR Career Center. Whether you are a job seeker or job poster, the DallasHR Career Center is your one-stop-shop for jobs.
