Lately, it’s beginning to look and feel a whole lot more like fall outside. The crisp air and vibrant leaves remind me that the holidays are fast approaching, and I’m sure by the time you read this, you’ll be making plans for Thanksgiving. At the moment, my family hasn’t quite figured out where we’ll be feasting this year, which is a big change from my childhood custom. Growing up in Omaha, my family had a tradition. Like clockwork every Thanksgiving, we’d pile into the car and make the hour and a half drive north to Seward, Nebraska. The trek always proved worthwhile for my Aunt Sherry’s famous mashed potatoes and gravy. While the adults cooked, the kids worked up an appetite running around in the yard, playing in the fall leaves. And of course, the evening would end with a slice of my mom’s delicious pecan pie. Her secret? Don’t skimp on the corn syrup. But the day after Thanksgiving was when the festivities really began. The main event for kids and adults was the annual Black Friday game, when our Cornhuskers would take on their age-old rival, Colorado. Afterward, we’d take advantage of the fact that our Aunt Sherry and her husband owned the local Dairy Queen and go out as a family for ice cream. Those were sweet memories. These days, we don’t always make it out to Seward. But when we do, life comes full circle. Now my cousins and I are the ones trying to prepare the mashed potatoes just right, as my kids and their cousins and second cousins run around in the yard. This time, we’ll play Iowa rather than Colorado, but you can bet the adults, grandparents,
BURN INJURIES
Experiencing this tradition now as an adult helps me appreciate the importance of Thanksgiving. More than the food or football, the holiday is best spent with our ever-growing, ever-changing family. It’s a day to be grateful for one another and the memories we’ve created over the years. We may not make it out to Seward this year. At the end of the day, our clients come first, and the law doesn’t take holidays. But no matter where we sit down for dinner this Thanksgiving, I know what I’ll be grateful for. Our children are growing into wonderful human beings; the firm has had an amazing year; Tom and I have made a home for ourselves in a city we love; and we’re doing what we’re passionate about: helping people in need. And of course, we’re both grateful to the people who have put their trust in us to represent them over the years. So, I’d like to raise a toast to you. Thank you for putting your faith in our firm, and by extension, our family. I hope you and your loved ones have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving, whether you’re continuing an old tradition or starting a new one.

PHARMACEUTICAL & DRUG INJURIES
'Tis the Season for DUIs TIPS TO KEEP THE ROADS SAFE THIS THANKSGIVING Much like Chelsea’s family tradition, many Americans will take to the road this Thanksgiving to visit relatives near and far. While these journeys can bring your family closer together for the holidays, it’s important to be extra careful while traveling this time of year. Not only will early snow and ice be a concern, but your fellow drivers may pose a serious threat. Tragically, Thanksgiving weekend has a higher rate of car accidents caused by drunk drivers than any other time of the year. Crashes involving inebriated drivers are more likely to cause severe injury or death than incidents where drivers are sober. Here are three steps you can take to make the roads a little safer this holiday season. Whether you’re hosting or traveling to Thanksgiving dinner, a little planning can make sure no one from your party gets behind the wheel while intoxicated. As a host, be prepared to give guests plenty of extra time to sober up (about an hour per glass of wine or can of beer). As a guest, you should always have 3 Types ofMedication Errors to Watch Out For PLAN AHEAD
The Most Underrated Thanksgiving Foods 4 DISHES YOUR TABLE NEEDS When you think of Thanksgiving food, the first dishes that pop into your mind are probably turkey, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. They’re a part of nearly every Thanksgiving meal. And while these delicious foods are something you don’t want to skip, there are dishes your table is sorely missing — dishes that don’t get the respect they truly deserve. This Thanksgiving, why not take a look at a few other options? SOUP This is one dish that rarely hits the Thanksgiving table. But try a butternut squash or broccoli cheddar soup and you’ll be surprised just how “at home” it feels among the rest of your spread. It’s perfect to serve ahead of the main course, as the final touches are put on the turkey, or when the green bean casserole needs a few more minutes in the oven.
BRUSSELS SPROUTS These tiny greens often get overlooked during Thanksgiving, but with the right accompaniment, they can make for an extremely tasty and nutritious dish. For example, try roasting halved Brussels sprouts with dried cranberries and bacon, drizzled with a raspberry balsamic vinaigrette.
SAUSAGE Put a creative spin on your traditional Thanksgiving dishes and try using sausage in the stuffing. An Italian sausage, for instance, adds a kick of flavor to any stuffing, homemade or from the box. You can also experiment with other kinds of sausage to find the flavors that best complement your stuffing. Use a sweet sausage when you need something to pair with a stuffing that incorporates apples. CRANBERRY SAUCE This Thanksgiving staple rarely gets the attention it deserves. While it’s easy to buy a can of cranberry sauce, you do your guests a culinary disservice by going this route. Instead, make your own cranberry sauce. There are many recipes online, and all you need are some fresh or frozen cranberries, orange juice, and sugar to make the best cranberry sauce of your life.

The case will help set an example so the driver never takes such a reckless action again.
an alternative means of getting home safely if you plan on drinking, whether that means traveling with a designated driver or using a ride-sharing service.
REPORT DRUNK DRIVERS
If you suspect a driver is under the influence, pull over and call 911. Give the authorities the make, model, color, and current location of the car. If you can get the license plate number, great, but don’t tail the car or try to get the driver to pull over. You may end up inadvertently causing an accident.
HOLD DRIVERS ACCOUNTABLE
Sometimes there’s nothing you can do to prevent an accident. When you’re blindsided by a drunk driver, the best thing you can do is think about your future. Medical bills after such an accident can be costly, not to mention

should they have any concerns — even minor concerns — about the prescription, including legibility or dosage.
Doctors sometimes prescribe medication not suitable for their patients. There are many factors that doctors should consider before writing a script, including their patients’ medical histories, possible drug allergies, other medications and interactions, and overall medical status. When a doctor fails to do this, the consequences can be serious.

The FDA carefully oversees the prescription drug industry and requires all manufacturers to meet an acceptable standard of care in their production process. Should a drug manufacturer learn that one of its products is potentially dangerous, they are required to take action to limit injury to patients who may have taken the drug. The patient (plaintiff) may incur additional medical expenses as a result, including unnecessary pain and suffering. Since a medication error is disruptive, they may even miss work in order to recover or receive further treatment. If your or a loved one’s life has been interrupted by a medication error, don’t hesitate to contact us for a free case evaluation. We’re here to help and to guide you through the process.

PRESCRIBING ERRORS
In this case, the doctor or medical professional (defendant) failed to prescribe the correct medication to their patient. This can be an instance of prescribing the wrong medication, listing the incorrect dosage, or choosing the wrong delivery method.
PRESCRIPTION FILLING ERRORS
Even when the prescription is correct, the pharmacy occasionally makes an error. Pharmacy technicians must ensure they fill every prescription accurately. They should always consult with the prescribing doctor

A Historic Veterans Day COMMEMORATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OFWORLD WAR I
the fighting at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, though the war did not officially end until the signing of the Treaty of Versailles the following July. An estimated 16 million soldiers and civilians died in just four years, making it one of the deadliest conflicts in modern history. VETERANS DAY Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day was first observed on Nov. 11, 1919, to honor the one-year anniversary of the armistice, and it became a U.S. holiday in 1938. Today, Veterans Day celebrates veterans who served their country honorably. The U.K., France, Australia, and Canada also commemorate their veterans in November. If you know a veteran, thank them for their service this month.
This year, Veterans Day takes on particular historic significance: Nov. 11, 2018, marks the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the First World War. Countries around the world will commemorate the signing of this peace agreement with moments of silence, centennial ceremonies, and historical exhibits.
spark that would eventually burn down much of Europe. A chain reaction of land disputes, pre-emptive attacks, and strategic alliances brought over 30 countries into World War I. The Great War that ravaged Europe resulted in a devastating loss of life, but from those ashes rose a renewed appreciation for the importance of peace and a global effort to ensure its place in the future. THE RESTORATION OF PEACE In 1918, Germany surrendered unconditionally, and the armistice ended
Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day is a celebration of life. It’s a day to honor the power of peace and the living veterans across the globe who have served their countries. This November, take a moment to remember the war that helped shape the international community’s dedication to peace and thank the individuals who served to defend it. THE GREAT WAR By 1914, a world war had been years in the making, but the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of the Austro-Hungarian Empire by a Serbian nationalist provided the
