Focus on How Far You’ve Come in Life ONE STEP AT A TIME...

Soon after setting new year’s resolutions, some people find they’ve already given up on their goals for the new year. As a result, they may feel as though they can’t accomplish those resolutions. But it’s good to be reminded that you can get up, brush yourself off, and refocus on those goals. As optimistic individuals, we may sometimes set our goals too high. This can lead to disappointment if we don’t achieve what we’d hoped for. When you find yourself on a different path than expected, it’s essential to reflect on how far you’ve actually come and not get fixated on negative things. I found this principle in a book by Dan Sullivan called “The Gap and the Gain.” He says people tend to focus on the negative aspects of not achieving goals, without appreciating how far they’ve come. By focusing on the gap between where

you want to be and where you are now, you can set yourself up for disappointment. But if you look at how far you’ve gotten toward your goals, you’re able to keep moving forward. We incorporate this philosophy into our practice all the time — and it keeps fueling our future growth. It has also helped me stay focused on my goal as I march to one million. If I were to look at how many lives I need to inspire to reach my goal, it could quickly feel insurmountable.

“When you find yourself on a different path than expected, it’s essential to reflect on how far you’ve actually come and not get fixated on negative things. ”

their savings journeys, and they realize they can live the lives they hope for. Some of this anxiety comes from how retirement is marketed on television — how you’re supposed to live your life and what that looks like. You can become stressed when trying to figure out what that looks like

But by looking at how many lives I have already positively impacted, it keeps me moving forward toward that endeavor. I impacted more people last year than in previous years, which provides more momentum for me to push closer to that goal. This is something I tell my clients. Frequently, when people decide they want to address a problem or prepare for the future, they sometimes come at it from a position of fear. They often feel like they haven’t done enough. When people understand their options and how those options apply to their lives, it’s much easier to focus on goals and rid themselves of anxiety. My clients can see how far they’ve come in

for you. But it’s important to look at what you’ve

accomplished in your life.

Take each day one step at a time and brush yourself off when you fall. Appreciate the little things and remember that things will work out. Your friends at DuPont Wealth Solutions will be happy to make this transition and preparation easier for you and your family.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: TANNER SINGLETON, JUNIOR FINANCIAL ADVISOR

When did you start working here, and how is your role evolving? I started working here in September of 2021. Currently, my typical workday consists of making outbound calls to current clients and prospects. I assist them with our weekly webinars and schedule time on Greg’s calendar. In my spare time, I am studying for the Series 65 exam, which will officially certify me as a financial advisor. In the near future, I will work with Greg more behind the scenes to fill out and submit financial planning applications for

clients. A while after that, I will be more directly serving clients with our Debt Free 4 Life program. What would you say to someone hesitant to start financial planning? Having a financial expert on your side can make a huge difference in terms of reaching your long- and short-term goals. Having a financial advocate on your side not only can make you more successful, it also makes a difference in the lives of your partner, your children, and your grandchildren.

What is your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is helping people turn their fears and unknowns about their finances into confidence and knowledge. I really enjoy working with Greg to provide personalized and excellent financial advice to our clients.

Let Us File Your Taxes for Half of What You Paid Last Year

In efforts to provide the highest level of service to our friends and clients, I wanted to make sure you knew of a valuable service we offer. In addition to DuPont Wealth Solutions, I also own a very successful tax preparation and comprehensive tax planning firm, Ohio Tax Planning Advocates, Ltd. , which utilizes highly skilled tax professionals to protect you and your family from paying more than your fair share. We strive to level the playing field and maybe even tilt it in your favor, legally and ethically. Ohio Tax Planning Advocates isn’t your run-of- the-mill tax preparer. Our meetings go beyond such standard advice as “max out your 401(k)” and “contribute to an IRA.” We work with a carefully vetted team of tax professionals and CPAs from across the country to help proactively plan better tax outcomes for our clients . Through this effort, we can often lower future tax liabilities and, as a result, provide a more coordinated tax, estate planning, and retirement income planning process. We believe these three goals must work in harmony to achieve the right results. Wouldn’t you agree?

As government spending has climbed to an unprecedented level, the Internal Revenue Service is getting more aggressive than ever in its search for funds. Without proactive tax guidance, your income and savings are left vulnerable to Uncle Sam.

Did you know ...

• The top 1% of all taxpayers (those with Adjusted Gross Income over $540,000) pay 40.1% of all federal income taxes. • The top 5% of all taxpayers (those with Adjusted Gross Income over $217,000) pay 60.3% of all federal income taxes. • The top 10% of all taxpayers (those with Adjusted Gross Income over $151,935) pay 71.4% of all federal income taxes. When the Internal Revenue Service comes looking for more revenue, will they be looking at wage earners in the top 50% or the bottom 50%? You need to prepare now.

These services may benefit you regardless of whether you are a business owner, a regular wage employee, or a retiree. I have found that there are almost always tax planning opportunities for anyone who pays tax. Don’t let the fact that you get a refund hide the amount of taxes you have paid. At this time of year, many people are considering whether they should do their taxes themselves or perhaps change their tax preparer. If you are contemplating such a change, we would like to make a special limited-time introductory offer. Our team will prepare your 2021 tax return for 1/2 the fee you paid a professional preparer to prepare your 2020 tax return. If you prepared your 2020 tax return yourself, we will prepare your 2021 1040 and one state return for $279. When that return is complete, we will also conduct a complimentary review to determine what, if any, changes could be made to reduce your future tax obligations. With a few exceptions, it’s too late to change your tax outcomes for this past year, but if you want to get a jump-start on THIS year’s savings, see us NOW.

firefighters. To take advantage of this reduced- rate offer, you have to provide us 15 minutes of your time and complete information for your return by April 1. With any request for us to file after April 1, we will file for extensions and charge our standard rates. Is potentially saving thousands of dollars in taxes now and in the future a priority for you? If so, call us at 614.414.3616 to get started now.

P.S. As with all the services we provide at DuPont Wealth Solutions and DuPont and Blumenstiel, our offers to you extend to your family and close friends as a courtesy to you. So, if you don’t think you will benefit from this offer but know someone who may, feel free to let us know and we will treat them with the same level of expertise and care you have grown to expect.

This is a limited-time introductory offer. We are proactive planners and not last-minute

3 STRATEGIES TO GET YOU STARTED Starting Late on Retirement Savings?

When it comes to saving for retirement, financial experts suggest that you start saving as soon as possible. But if you haven’t begun preparing for retirement, not all hope is lost. You can still start saving money now — even if you’re starting late! Here are a few strategies to help you get started. Create a Roth IRA to save more. If you have maxed out your 401(k), an IRA can help maximize your retirement contributions. For traditional IRAs, the contributions are tax-deductible and grow tax-free until you withdraw funds in retirement. For a Roth IRA, contributions are pre-tax and withdrawals are tax-free. Pay down debt. If you have credit card debt, car loans, a mortgage, and other debt, it’s best to begin

paying those off. These expenses could cripple your retirement budget if they start to increase. If you’re able to get a head start on this, you won’t have to worry about it once you’re retired. Create a budget. Take a look at your monthly earnings and see how much you’re spending each month. You may be able to repurpose that money toward your retirement savings. You can determine how much money you need to live comfortably by calculating your expenses. You can track your expenses manually by using an Excel spreadsheet, or you can ask your financial advisor for advice. Calculating your costs is very important when it comes to retirement planning because you don’t want to miscalculate how much you need after you retire.

Continue to meet with your financial advisor.

If you have any questions about saving for retirement, your budget, Roth IRAs, or 401(k) s, your advisor can assist you. They are here to help you in any way they can and make sure this period of your life goes smoothly. Allow DuPont Wealth Solutions to help you with all of your retirement planning and financial needs. If you began saving for retirement later, no worries! We can help you create a savings plan and ensure that you are good to go before your retirement.

3 OUTSIDE DATE NIGHT IDEAS

Did your significant other leave it up to you to come up with a romantic date idea this Valentine’s Day? Luckily for you, there are tons of date activities that are easy and affordable for you to enjoy with Mother Nature. While the possibilities are endless outside, here are three popular outdoor date ideas! Watch the sunset. Sunsets are intuitively romantic: The sun paints the sky in calming reds, pinks, and

live in a location where you can easily see the stars, take advantage of the peaceful privacy with your loved one. Maybe you’ll spot a shooting star you can wish upon while you’re out there! Hit up a drive-in movie. If you’re looking for a way to be extra comfy while still sitting outside, a drive-in movie is the best destination! The best part about a drive-in is that you can view both new and old movies as well as bring your own snacks

purples, creating a beautiful backdrop. While watching the sunset, you and your partner can have a romantic picnic with the sky in view. Or you can embrace the scenery with your other half and create memories you both will never forget. Go stargazing. If you live in the city, stargazing is a good chance to escape for the night and get away from the light pollution in the city. If you already

and drinks. If the weather permits and if you have a truck, you can load the bed with blankets and pillows and have a cozy night while watching a movie. These date night ideas are perfect for Valentine’s Day, but they don’t have to be limited to just the holiday! You can also consider these for any date that you have with your significant other. Nothing brings couples closer like being together with nature.
