PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN RELIEVE ARTHRITIS PAIN
find relief. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out how our services can benefit you! How can Physical Therapy relieve my Arthritis Pain? One of the primary goals of Physical Therapy is to regain as much function as possible in the affected area(s) of the body. By restoring normal joint movement and improving muscle strength, the amount of excessive pressure on the joint can be relieved. Reducing the pressure on the affected joint decreases inflammation, reduces further degeneration, and helps relieve pain for improved functional mobility. When you arrive for your initial consultation at Elite Physical Therapy, you’ll be greeted by one of our licensed and dedicated Physical Therapists. Each of our team members are movement experts with years of medical training, equipped in helping patients relieve the stiffness, achiness, and pain associated with arthritis.
There are hundreds of different types of arthritis but the most common are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common, and it happens as a gradual “wear and tear” of cartilage surrounding the joints. This can occur from age or from excessive, repetitive use of the affected joint(s). When cartilage is worn down, it can no longer act as a strong cushion and shock absorber for the joints, resulting in bone- to-bone friction and painful inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is the second most commonly experienced form of arthritis, and it develops as an autoimmune response. When someone has rheumatoid arthritis, their immune system sees the joints as a threat. Because of this, the immune system attacks the joints, resulting in pain and inflammation. Many experts believe that your hormones, medical history, and environment could all be contributing factors. Whatever may be causing your arthritis pain, Elite Physical Therapy can help you

5 STAR REVIEW
“Made it possible for him to be well enough to play basketball, flag football, and pretty much anything else he wanted to do!” “Our son had been playing flag football and basketball. After the games, he would complain of pain in his ankle. Stretching and icing would help temporarily, but the pain would come back and sometimes be debilitating. This led to many missed games. After a visit to the pediatrician, it was determined that he had Severs Disease. If you haven’t heard of Severs Disease, it happens during a growth spurt when the bones, muscles, and tendons grow at different rates. This causes tightening of the muscles and tendons, which pull on the growth plate in the heel. It can be very painful. We took our son to Elite Physical Therapy where they evaluated him. Thankfully, the amazing folks at Elite, knew just what to do. His Elite Physical Therapist started by getting to knowmy son and what motivated him. He then used that as part of the rehab to get him “back in the game”. Through extensive visits in a two month period, his Elite Physical Therapist pushed my son to push himself and made it possible for him to be well enough to play basketball, flag football, and pretty much anything else he wanted to do. I can’t say enough great things about Elite! He really took time to understand our son and modified the exercises and routine to fit each visit. To see my son sitting on the bench wishing he could play was heartbreaking, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the knowledge, warmth, time, and dedication of the Physical Therapists and the team at Elite Physical Therapy.”

October is Physical Therapy Month! Here’s what one of our Physical Therapists has to say about Elite Physical Therapy
BRIAN WHITCOMB, PT “I have been part of the Elite Physical Therapy team for 15 years and have been able to see the evolution of our company, not only in size, but also in the positive impact on the wellness and health of the communities we serve. My observation on why Elite Physical Therapy has been able to provide quality care in returning so many patients to pain free living is based on the culture of our team. I value Elite customer service and care when I have received it personally, and I take pride
in being a part of an entire team that truly provides that every day. To me, Elite represents the highest level of care and service and has a culture that is based in treating each individual as we would our family and loved ones Our profession provides a unique opportunity of getting to know so many interesting and incredible people as we work with them to relieve their pain and return to activities. Elite has a strong commitment to continuing education for physical therapists on the team. We have been fortunate to be able to regularly host courses on site, which has allowed amazing access to some excellent educational opportunities. This has allowed me and my fellow therapists the ability to continue to develop clinical skills to get our patients feeling better sooner. I look forward to the opportunities Elite will provide going forward in continuing to grow my skills as a physical therapist and I am proud to be part of such an exceptional group of professionals who truly care.” - Brian Whitcomb, Physical Therapist
