The new EMS HYDRAKE was developed and designed with efficient grit removal in mind, each HYDRAKE is hand-built and fully tested at our Knypersley works by fully qualified mechanical engineers.

The EMS HYDRAKE is driven by hydraulic cylinders that allow consistent forward and backward movement for optimum grit extraction. How does it work?

A totally unique feature of the EMS HYDRAKE is the ability of the machine to be operated in forward or reverse. There are push buttons mounted either on the front of the starter/control panel or the remote-control panel that will allow extend, raise, lower or retract operation of the grit rake. This feature allows the operator/maintainer of the facility to clear rags or other debris that could cause the HYDRAKE to stall. This feature is very useful to maintainers too, as it allows the “inching of the system” to repair and test the system.

The position of the rake is always known via electronic sensors delivering operational flexibility. With a totally unique maintenance feature, all machine operations can be controlled individually. There is a grit bed adjustment feature built in to allow variable grit bed depth to suit individual site requirements.

What are the benefits?

Using the latest developments in hydraulic drives the new EMS HYDRAKE will outperform any existing grit systems installed. Showing outstanding results on several sites that have past experience of failing grit removal systems.

How much will it cost to maintain?

The HYDRAKE has been designed with ease of maintenance and repair in mind with a typical service costing as little as £498.00 (labour not included)

An overhaul of the HYDRAKE could include the following items. All works undertaken on site.

4 No pivot bearings 4 No traverse bearings 1 No grit rake extends and retract hydraulic cylinder (replace) 2 No grit rake raises and lower hydraulic cylinders (replace) 1 No fabricated and galvanised EMS grit rake assembly (replace) Price: £ 8,000 approximately (labour not included) If we compare this with a mechanical grit rake that generally reaches catastrophic failure before anyone realises there is a problem, the costs for this can easily reach £50k for repair.
