Education Doesn’t Stop With School A Lifetime of Learning and Growing

It’s fundamental for anyone, but especially business owners, to continue learning new things throughout their life. Something I’ve learned in the past couple of years is how many learning opportunities are available from experts outside of a traditional academic setting. I’ve attended a lot of workshops and seminars on marketing, legal topics, and business management and spent much of my time and money to do so. The return on that effort has been so much more beneficial than any of the returns I received from the college courses I’ve taken. A wide variety of helpful seminars are available to business owners. The Small Business Development Center hosts low-cost courses on beginners’ level business topics. For more advanced topics, many experts across the country will give you free advice or offer you opportunities — such as coaching — to learn more directly from them. Today, these advanced classes are more accessible than ever. In the past, if someone wanted to learn about a particular subject or engage their services with others, they went to seminars and events in person. Due to the pandemic, many of these courses are now available over Zoom, Google Meet, StarLeaf, or Lifesize. While these options are helpful to “Despite what state the world is in right now, it is the perfect time to learn a new skill.”

business owners across the country, I remain firm that in-person courses are far better for one main reason. The other people in the audience are similar to you; they have similar problems and see similar opportunities. You can’t beat the networking you accomplish at an in-person seminar on a particular topic you and other people are interested in. It’s very similar to college attendance; anyone can sign up for an online course, but one of the benefits of going to college is meeting other people, interacting with them, and forming those friendships. Yet, in these times, we must take what we can. Over the years, I’ve attended workshops and seminars that have a tremendous amount of useful information. Not only this, but my team

and I have also presented seminars of our own. Currently, we’re presenting a virtual event every couple of weeks to help educate people looking for this information. This is a trend that will continue for us far after the global pandemic. Despite what state the world is in right now, it is the perfect time to learn a new skill. The information you’re after is so readily available to you, whether via free or paid content. With most summer events canceled, we have more free time on our hands we can use to actively seek that new information. If you’re unsure of where to begin, I recommend starting with podcasts. They cover the same variety of subjects as seminars. Don’t waste this opportunity to benefit both yourself and your business.
