approach to the management of symptoms, CBD leverages the natural interac- tions of the cannabis plant in the body. With its market value predicted to reach $9.69 billion by 2025, CBD is part of a broader trend toward a more holistic approach to wellness. The prospect of being able to rely on plant therapy to ease anxiety, reduce feelings of stress and lift mood is a certainly an attractive one. “People are increasingly turning to more natural health and wellness solutions to add to their self-care routines,” Clay Percy, Your CBD Store® Domestic Fran- chise Director said. “People are looking towards natural remedies for their anxi- ety and other mental and physical health concerns.” The Your CBD Store Solution Your CBD Store® places a consumer focus on integrated wellness solutions. From its team of bio scientists working on seed development and agricultural rigor to the company’s highly trained, thoroughly educated staff, the consumer’s safety and education come fi rst and foremost. Your CBD Store®, is the nation’s fastest growing retail channel for CBD users with over 700 locations across the country. After one year, the company grew into the largest CBD retailer in the world. Rachael Quinn, Your CBD Store® founder, shares her desire to inspire others through the use of natural, hemp-derived products. Each Your CBD Store® offers a comfortable and inviting environment where guests can learn about CBD, try samples and feel empowered to make a con fi dent choice on the best cannabinoid formulation option for them. The company’s organic growth and dedication to bettering the community through transparent product information from high-quality premium product lines backed by third party laboratory testing make SunMed™ CBD products a refreshing new standard in the CBD space. “Our approach is simple at Your CBD Store,” Percy said. “Education is fi rst and fore- most. When our customers have been educated on CBD properly, they will then feel comfortable enough to shop. Everything we do is focused on improving the lives of our customers, we offer a high-quality learning environment where cus- tomers can try products and leave knowing what is in their CBD product. Con- sumers deserve to get exactly what they paid for, and we want to teach our customers what to look for so that they can feel con fi dent and get consistent re- sults when they fi nd their way with CBD. ”
CBD. It’s all over the news. Your friends are talking about it. It’s taking over your social media feed. But how much do you actually know about CBD? And in an uncontrolled market, how do you begin to navigate what’s best for you?
Well, let’s start with the basics:
What is CBD? Derived from the Cannabis sativa plant, CBD (cannabidiol) is the healing com- pound that has become the talk of the town in recent years, with organic proper- ties lending itself to a myriad of health conditions ranging from chronic pain and in fl ammation to neurodegenerative illnesses and hypertension. CBD has al- ways been recognized for its anti-in fl ammatory properties. So, it’s no secret that it can ease painful symptoms. CBD is devoid of THC – the psychoactive compound in the plant that is known for its mind-altering effects – which means that it is totally legal and readily avail- able to consumers around the world, and for many, it has proven itself to be the rX they needed. Is all CBD equal? More and more companies are fi ghting for a slice of the cannabis pie. Unfortu- nately, too many competitors are making compromises including low growing standards and poor-quality ingredients, undercutting the product and conse- quently, the consumer’s health. In this unregulated industry, a large number of CBD products are not seed-to-sale, medical-grade products optimized for thera- peutic results. Because the sale of CBD is unregulated by the FDA, there are only a handful of reputable companies out in the market. In a recent University of Connecticut study of 100 CBD products pulled off shelves at health food stores, gas stations, and vape shops, less than 67% tested properly. Your CBD Store® offers some of the purest ingredients in the world. The com- pany’s 700+ brick-and-mortar stores only sell products manufactured by Sun- Med, which undergoes a rigorous CO2 extraction process to eliminate the need for chemical solvents, resulting in a high-quality, full-spectrum CBD. The CBD is then processed again to remove all traces of THC for the company’s zero-THC products. Bringing superior quality hemp-derived products to the market, Your CBD Store® is the only company of its kind who can boast they are Certi fi ed USDA or- ganic, setting the benchmark that all companies in the CBD space should stand up to. CBD during the pandemic Almost one in four U.S. CBD consumers have started using CBD in the last six months, equivalent to 9 million new users, according to a national study of CBD users by cannabis market research fi rm High Yield Insights. That same study showed that more than one in three long-term CBD users (an estimated 13.4 million adults) sampled at least one new product type during this time. The CBD industry continues to thrive despite the far-reaching economic chal- lenges presented by the pandemic. By offering the potential for a more holistic

ruffles all over, around the bust, or maybe just along the straps or waist. The Monokini is another silhouette sweeping the beach and poolside this summer. A throw- back to Y2K fashion, the monokini emphasizes an hour-glass figure and can work hand in hand with the gold metal trend. Most monokinis have hoops holding the various sections of the suit together; if you can find one with sun-glinting gold hoops, you’ll look fresh off the cover of Vogue. For the actual outfit worn over your suit, sets are huge this year, as they were last. Many fashion brands offer a resort wear section, where you will be able to find a bikini with a matching sarong. Lately, the general trend in fashion has favored this matching set look – this is an easy way to test the craze. Sunglasses are always a must, not just for the beach but any sunny day, and the perfect way to pull an outfit together. An ode to the 60s, large, “blocky” sunglasses are once again pop- ular. Tortoiseshell and bright gold seem to be the darlings of this season. For a more mascu- line look, try aviators. Make sure whatever you wear to the beach speaks to your own personal style and will allow you to enjoy your favorite oceanside activies!
With the summer heat finally rolling in, beaches are the perfect weekend destination. Whether you plan on spending your beach day lounging in the sun, swimming in the sea, or walking the boardwalk, here are some trends that will be populating the coastline this summer! Beach fashion this year is all about ensuring a little extra sparkle in the sunlight. Many bathing suits this season are including gold metal. Like an accessory already apart of the outfit, the metallic gold detailing is usually seen on either the straps of the bikini top, or braided along the hip. Some strappy one pieces have large hoops connecting the hips to the bra. If this sounds interesting, but not entirely wearable for you, a chunky earring will give you that touch of glitter and shimmer in the sunshine. Another option for this same shine affect is the ‘diamond bathing suit.’ These swim costumes are all about the fabric, made with metallic and glitter material. This ultra-feminine trend is sim- ple and easy to incorporate, allowing you to pick out a bikini or one piece in any color or style. A popular silhouette for this trend is the high waisted bikini. Another versatile trend is the ruffle swimsuit: focused primarily on the shape of the suit, rather than the fabric or color. Flattering for all body types, you can pick a swimsuit that has

I nspired by their beloved Grandpa Nunzi, keeping the traditions of the good ole days alive has become the center of owner Michael Napolitano’s vision. To sit at the din- ner table to talk and laugh with friends and family, while enjoying an elevated take on old world Italian cooking. Nunzis invites you to come and experience the “New” Good Ole Days and create more memo- rable moments for the people in your life that you care about. Opening last October, Nunzis is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Farmingdale. With the help of Michael’s father Vincent and brother Vincent Jr., they have all worked tirelessly to demonstrate that the incredible dishes made in the kitchen are only rivaled by the fantastic hospitality of Nunzis, where everybody is treated like a VIP. Traditions and respect for the good ole days,’ have all been incorporated into a sleek and modern layout by renowned de- signer Derek Axelrod. “In keeping our grandfather's traditions alive, you will eat with us, drink with us and laugh with us. Fam- ilies and friends will all enjoy delicious food, fine drinks, good music and making memories,” states Napolitano. The modern take on classic dishes, highlights a menu
that incorporates unique twists on old school Italian meals. With superb creations such as Grandmas Meatballs, Pappardelle & Lamb, Heritage Pork Chop; and desserts like Cannoli Cream with Biscotti. Not to be missed are fascinating interpretations that will satisfy the cravings of adventurous foodies such as one-of-a-kind Limoncello Chicken Wings and a boisterous menu placement of a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. What Chefs Anthony LoCastro and Marc Wisehart have collaborated to produce, are memo- rable moments on a plate. Nunzis is considered, by its loyalists as an immer- sive cultural experience that warmly embraces. The moment guests walk in the door they are dazzled by a lively environment that is both edgy and delightful. Both Axelrod and the Napolitano’s worked harmo- niously to launch what has now become a distinct trademark at Nunzis. Michael Napolitano seeks to en- chant young and old alike by capturing a fresh, con- temporary, and sleek look, with nods to the glamour and romance of classic Italian meals. L iving in a second- fl oor apartment, in New York, in the summer, is dif fi cult for an amateur chef like myself. I often feel limited with the cooking vessels I can use, and it’s gen- erally not worth putting the oven on if my air conditioning units are working hard and I’m struggling to stay cool. Luckily, I’ve discovered some of my new, favorite meals thanks to this in- convenience. Seasonal salads, fl at- breads, taco bowls, chilled pasta – the list goes on. During the warmer months, I opt for cooking my meals in the Instant Pot, air fryer, convection oven, panini press, and on the stovetop. I also fi nd myself experimenting with more room tem- perature and chilled meals, some of my go-tos include goat cheese and tomato toast with arugula or chilled pasta salad with pesto, mozzarella and yellow cherry tomatoes. I generally buy the same ingredients and attempt to repurpose them weekly. Any given week I am guaranteed to pur- chase arugula (my favorite green!), cheeses (I like to switch it up but I love Taleggio, feta, brie and manchego), tomatoes, fresh pasta, avocados, lemons, limes, fresh fi sh and/or seafood, and ground meat. While I may use arugula in a summer salad this week, I will try to incorporate it into a
fl atbread next week. (See what I mean?) Ground meat may be used for tacos this week, but next week could be a protein of choice in a Vietnamese pork bowl. Pinterest, Instagram reels and food blogs routinely dish up the inspiration I am looking for, and make it easy to avoid turning on the oven. While I wish I had a grill (like most of suburban Long Island), I have to use what I have in- house to create equally delicious meals for my husband and myself. A grill pan does the trick for skewers or shrimp, but I must admit the Instant Pot is a great way to cook meat in the summer – without overheating the house. (A trick of the trade I learned from my dad.) Think slow cooked pork, chicken or brisket for tacos! Perhaps a home- made ragu that could quickly be paired with fresh pasta and salad. The ‘pasta- bilities’ are endless. Find your favorite ingredients, re- search recipes, and start cooking! Don’t be hesitant to reinvent staples in the Instant Pot instead of the oven. Skip the broiler and use your air fryer. Pressed for time? Opt for your panini press and/or grill pan for sandwiches and wraps. Not in the mood to cook? Throw together a summer salad or dressed up toast. Whatever you decide, you’ll be happy you tried some- thing new.

A re you a trend follower, trendsetter, or do you walk to the beat of your own drum? If you, dear reader, have followed my advice during the almost 50 years of my design career, you surely know the answer to that one. So what is a trend? A trend is often defined as “something developing or changing in a general direction, a fashion as opposed to a fad.” The difference is that a fad tends to be momentary, while a trend may have long term implications. In interior design, trends build up momentum as more people get on the band wagon. So, get ready for this ride because if you are of a certain age, it might seem like déjà vu! Back to the future could be a term for 2022 in interior design. Many may not remember the 70’s in decorating – whether it was you, your mother, or grandmother. The colors were often terra cotta, sage and mustard with furniture that was teak or darker. There were bold prints, lots of plants, busy wallpapers and something called “chinoiserie” (in the classic style of the Orient). Well, hold on tight you white lovers, because they are all trending back! What’s a homeowner to do? If you are a new homeowner, one who’s recently redecorated, or one who hasn’t redecorated since the 70’s (believe me, I know many), you have a choice. You are free to do what you want. You can go
retro, furnishing intensely or just dip a toe in the water by accenting with bold colors and incorporating a plant or two. You can also stick to your guns and be happy your home is clean, neat, comfortable and tasteful – that is, in your taste. Am I bashing the 70’s look? No way – I’ve been there and done that. Am I saying change isn’t good? Of course not. We certainly need change after the time we’ve all been going through. We need to also seek calming environments – places for solace, along with sustainable products that help keep both us and the environment healthy. Summer design, for me, does follow the trend – to a degree. It is bringing the indoors out with bright and happy colors, patterns in pillows and tableware, flower pots in which glorious colors abound, with light and sunshine everywhere. Gathering safely outdoors in an artful and clean environment with a casual and comfortable design theme welcomes family and friends. Then add a trendy metallic look and accents of deep blues with whites and you’re a trendsetter! It is having fun with decorating. So, whether it means fruit prints on the kitchen walls or fresh fruit in a basket on your sun porch table, enjoy the summer your way – in your home and in your life.

“Rosemarie and I have always had a passion for traveling, mainly for the food. If we stumbled upon a donut shop that was hours away, we would take the trip. Bubble waffle ice cream was something we tried in Hong Kong and matcha tea in Japan. Combining our favorite food con- cepts from all over the world was something we always envisioned and here we have it. Our first year in operation was a success and we only have more surprises to come!” says Cinderella. The bubble waffle which originated in Asia, is made out of egglets. The cone itself is made from an egg batter, which is placed into a bubble waf- fle maker and voila, creating a cone that’s crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside. Customers can then choose an ice cream base and pick from infused mix-ins like cereal, fruit, granola, chocolate, hot fudge and much more! If you are in the mood for something a bit lighter, you can also find healthy options within the three-in-one establishment, all of which still taste good. Other food options in the café include cookies and baklava, croissants, Portuguese rice cakes, homemade banana pudding, classic American breakfast items and other baked goods from New York City’s famous bak- eries, Balthazar and Ceci Cela. In fact, being that the staff loves to exper- iment with flavors, you might also stumble upon seasonal favorites. On my visit, I was blown away by their Spring Drink Special which was a strawberry and vanilla matcha – refreshing on a hot day and not too sweet. I also tried their popular shumai dumplings made by Uy herself, which were out of this world. Lastly, their Bubble Waffle…filled to the brim with cookies and cream ice cream, topped with Hershey chocolate chips all served in a hot bubble waffle—truly no words. At Blue Bean Cafe, they offer a great coffee community where every roast and beverage is made with quality in mind. “Not only are we coffee and matcha geeks but also foodies who have combined all of our pas- sions under one roof,” says Rosemarie. Cinderella and Rosemarie wanted to create a place for those who live in the neighborhood, work in the area, or pass through on their commute. With children of their own who attend the St. Patrick School of Smithtown, this (former lumber yard) was the perfect location for combining both their roles as mothers and businesswomen. So, come celebrate their one-year anniversary on July 16th to enjoy FREE SAMPLES of coffee and matcha! Enjoy their outdoor seating or place your order through Ubereats, Postmates, Grubhub, DoorDash or on their websites bluebeancafe.com, matchateainheaven.com and bubblewaf- fleli.com. They even offer curbside pickup for your convenience!
by Katherine Andrianas
O wners and cousins, Cinderella Uy and Rosemarie Uzun, are proud to be celebrating their one-year anniversary at the three-in-one ice cream, coffee and matcha shop located right in the heart of Smithtown. From the sophisticated light fixtures, white countertops and walls to the elaborate bathroom, handmade ice cream wall hangings and “I love you so much,” preserved moss sign – every inch of space is exactly how they envisioned it to be. Whether you’re a loyal customer or a first timer, every guest is greeted by the friendly employees of Matcha Tea in Heaven and Blue Bean Café where home-made coffee, tea drinks and more are served. With a full menu which encompasses coffee (made from fresh beans daily), the upscale café has an array of specialty drinks that are to die for. Here, you can find the world’s best matcha. USDA-certified and lab tested, organic matcha imported from Uji in Kyoto, Japan, the birthplace of the green tea powder. As the only place on Long Island to have a zero-emis- sion roaster called, The Bellwether, their “farm to cup concept coffee” con- tains only real ingredients - no preservatives and is roasted regularly for freshness. However, it doesn’t end there. Since opening, Cinderella and Rose- marie have drastically expanded their food menu. Now, you get to pair your favorite drink with over five different avocado toasts, shumai pork/chicken dumplings, a grass-fed angus beef “Blue Bean” burger, herbed grilled cheese, club sandwich, turkey apple sandwich, truffle fries, or regular fries – all of which are made with the highest-quality ingredi- ents, (including organic bread and micro greens). Within the second portion of the establishment, you’ll find Bubble Waffle Ice Cream where the options are limitless. The ice cream is home- made and delicious bubble waffles are made fresh daily.
