Manager’s Message

Happy New Year! I enjoy the quiet of January at the Club as it gives us all the opportunity to catch up from the whirlwind fourth quarter and prepare and plan for an awesome new year for our members. Our staff has been working diligently on maintenance items like adding fresh coats of paint, deep- cleaning carpets and floors, sprucing up the women’s locker room, and enhancing all areas of our facility. We are also using the time to plan our events for the year, refresh any procedures and policies to make them as efficient as possible and train and prepare our staff to get ready to welcome you back soon.

Beginning February 17 th , our dining room will be open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and we’re finishing off the month by bringing back the very popular

Winter Carnival on February 26-27. You told us you loved taking advantage of the winter amenities here at our Club and we love being able to be creative with fun activities. We are adding more events to the first quarter of this year, including the wine dinner “A Night in Paris” on March 5 th (which is already sold out!), our Trivia & Karaoke Night on Friday, March 18 th , and another wine event in April – keep tuned for details. I hope you’ll add them to your calendar and come join us! Speaking of events, we hosted two successful platform tennis events in December with plans to host at least one more this winter. Our members are really enjoying having this amenity in the winter months and we are pleased to be able to support this activity for them. We’ve been hard at work developing a new website that we feel will provide a more modern experience and better reflect our Club. Take a moment to read more about our new website and mobile app and all the great features you’ll be able to access further on in this newsletter. One of my favorites is the ease of referring new members by just adding their contact info to a form that goes straight to Sara-Becca, our Director of Membership. She’ll get in touch with your referrals and bring them in as new members so you can continue to socialize with the friends you like best! I’ve heard from many members that we need to be more diligent about enforcing the Dress Code at the Club. We’ll be sending out a reminder of what the Dress Code includes, please let your guests know in advance and share the information with everyone in your family. Thank you for helping us keep Albany Country Club an elegant place you’re proud to show off to friends and family! Our three EV car charging stations are now operational in the parking lot, if you drive an electric car be sure to look for the spots when you need to charge up. We are also in the process of putting LED lights inside the clubhouse to cut back on our energy use and save on utility bills.

Another exciting addition to look forward to is new pool furniture. We’re spreading this project out over a couple of years but expect to have 20 new lounge chairs at the pool in time for the new season this year.

My door is always open and I welcome your suggestions for any programs, activities or events you’d like to see here at your Club. Feel free to email me, call or stop me in the hallways! I know 2022 will be a truly amazing year for Albany Country Club, and I can’t wait to get started!

A Message from Sara-Becca

Happy New Year! I am excited for 2022 and all of the activities and events that await us and I hope you are too! Over the past few months, we have been laying the groundwork for the upcoming season and I am looking forward to seeing these plans come to fruition. Since our last newsletter, we have had a handful of new members join and a couple of members return. Starting in this newsletter, we are including a short introduction for them. We hope that this makes our new and returning members feel welcome and gives you a chance to get to know them. Like most everyone, I am excited about the new website launching and I want to introduce you to some features that I hope you will use. The “Refer a New Member” form is a quick and easy way for you to pass along your friends’ and colleagues’ contact information to me so I can reach out to them. Of course, you can still email, call, or stop me in the hall to pass along the information – the choice is up to you. Another new feature I am excited about is the “Idea Box.” This online suggestion box is a way for you to suggest new offerings on the website or our communications. As always, there is a “House Committee Suggestions” form for other thoughts and suggestions. I hope you will make good use of the new website, especially these features.

I can't wait to see you back at the club soon!

Platform Tennis

This cold-weather activity is played on our heated and lighted courts. This year we have added windscreens to the courts to make the experience even better for our members. Don’t worry though, we will not be blocking the view for bystanders! This year we are instituting an online reservation system so that we can keep track of when the courts are in use and reduce the possibility of double booking. Reservations will be for one court at a time for either one or two hours. Another reason we are moving to a reservation system for platform tennis is so that we can arrange to have a key available to you so that you may access the clubhouse restrooms if the building is not open during that time.
