HOW TO BUILD A HIGH-PERFORMANCE TEAM Find and Create Superstar Coaches, Admins, and Managers

You need a high-performance team if you want your Fit Body Boot Camp to keep serving more clients and making you more money. You do not need employees who are average or below average. Below-average employees lose you money. Average employees don’t lose you money, but they also don’t make you money. They just maintain the status quo. Superstar team members make you more money than you could make on your own. They actually multiply your income and your impact on the world. With that in mind, wouldn’t it be crazy to have anyone but superstars running your boot camp? Step 1: Raise the Bar for Hiring Make potential hires jump through hoops for you. Relentlessly scrutinize every detail of their resume and their presentation when they show up for an interview. When it comes to hiring, your duty is to weed out the 95 percent of people who are unfit to do business with you as quickly as humanly possible. If that strikes you as cruel or “acting like a jerk,” think of it this way: Every time you hire a loser, you are stealing that opportunity from a winner who truly deserves a spot on your team. If they show up three minutes late to their interview, show them the door. If they seem bored or disinterested at any point in the process, don’t call them back. Your goal is to find tightly wound, driven, Type A personalities who are personally offended by laziness, sloppy work, and half effort. Those are How many new clients do you need to sign up each month? How often should your coaches text clients to check on their progress? How do you want coaches to behave when they’re on the floor training your clients? Never assume that the answers to these questions are “common sense” or that your team can figure them out on their own. It’s your responsibility to answer these types of questions ahead of time and clearly communicate those answers to your team. The team members with superstar potential will gratefully accept all the direction and clarity you can give them. Anyone who whines or complains doesn’t belong on your team, so get rid of them. the people who have the potential to become superstars. Step 2: Clearly Communicate Your Vision

Step 3: Invest in Your Team Once you’ve hired slowly, fired quickly, and gotten down to a team of committed, hardworking superstars, you need to invest in their continuing growth. That’s the only way to ensure that your business keeps growing and your team stays loyal to you. That is the best thing you can do to grow your business, because a true leader creates other leaders.

In case you haven’t heard, our new podcast is about to make its way to town.

Then, in a random brainstorming session, it hit us.

What if we just let our guests tell their own stories? And what if those stories could inspire our listeners to take their health and fitness seriously?

In 2009, Fit Body Boot Camp was just an idea in Bedros Keuilian’s head. In 2010, that idea turned into one of the first fitness boot camps to be run indoors. Fast forward to 2018. Fit Body boasts over 550 locations and changes hundreds of lives through fitness every day. Client transformations are what we take the most pride in, but a little recognition is never a bad thing. When Entrepreneur ranked us as the 350th best franchise in the country, we saw it as confirmation that the franchising and fitness services we provide are world-class. Entrepreneur received hundreds of applications from the most popular franchises across the country. The magazine then ranked the 500 best franchises to invest in across all industries, considering factors like initial investment cost, growth rate, and in-house support. Our place in the rankings is “Beyond the Scale” puts a different spin on health and fitness, interviewing guests from all walks of life who all have one thing in common: They changed their lives for the healthier. Just like our guests, it’s been a journey to turn this show into something we’re proud of. Here’s a peek into the making of Fit Body’s very first lead-generating podcast. When Bedros had the idea of starting an FBBC podcast, he first turned to me, Crystal Lizama, and my trusty partner in crime, Brittany Carter. I’m Fit Body’s executive director of operations and compliance, and if there’s one thing I love to do, it’s set and accomplish big goals. But this was something new. There was no template to go off of, and I had never worked on a podcast before, let alone produced one. Don’t get me wrong — I thought it was a fantastic idea. Still, I wondered, “Where do we get started?” My first move was to bring on Brittany as the host of the show. I knew that her energy was exactly what the show needed, but she had never done anything like this, either. While the BTS team began to take shape, the direction of the podcast was still a work in progress. There was something missing, but none of us knew what it was.

That was our angle. Now we had to bring the show to life.

Lincoln once said that if he had nine hours to chop down a tree, he’d spend the first six sharpening his axe. Our team spent plenty of time sharpening our axes, so to speak. Before we filmed our first episode, we went through hours of outlining, guest research, booking, and run-throughs. That was frustrating, but I would not let the show debut until I felt confident that both the Fit Body family and potential owners alike could learn something from it. On the plus side, it’s a real treat watching Brittany grow on camera. I admire how much she puts herself out there to connect with each guest — that’s really what our culture as a whole is all about. If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this podcast, it’s that we do everything we can to drive more leads into your boot camp. Your clients will receive life-changing tips and stories to inspire them to act. As for the conversations that Brittany has with each guest, we hope that you can have that same level of trust with each of your clients. HOW TO GENERATE RESULTS, REFERRALS, AND RETENTION

Referrals There’s no easier way to increase your income than by keeping current clients. When you deliver measurable results, your clients get excited and want to stick with you. And because they’re excited about your program and the results you offer, they’ll be excited to tell their friends and family about you when you ask them to refer you. The best part about referrals is that they come in hot. They’re prescreened, and they already trust you, because you were referred to them by someone they trust. Retention If you’re struggling to keep long-lasting clients, it’s probably because you’re not delivering results. Your duty as an owner and as a coach is to make sure you’re exceeding their expectations and tracking their progress. Are you just training your clients, or are you being a great coach to them as well? Learn how to inspire and motivate your clients. Show them that the outcome they will achieve is greater than the pain.

Results For the most part, marketing your personal training business isn’t the problem. You can easily market your services or promotions and generate more leads; the tricky part is turning those leads into lasting clients. The only way those leads will stick with your program is if they’re seeing results. When you ask them about becoming a client, and they give you a money objection, it’s most likely a smoke screen because they didn’t see the results they wanted. Set a goal the moment they sign up so you can make sure they reach that goal by the end of their sessions.
