(DLS). Headquartered in Itasca, Illinois, DLS was founded by Bob Hakman in 1985. Today, DLS is a labeling solu- tions provider with more than 200 team members; four locations: Illi- nois, Georgia,Texas, and Nevada; and more than 320,000 square feet of production space.

Dow Opens Nominations For Packaging Innovation Awards Dow is launching its call for entries for The 2019 Packaging Innovation Awards. Submissions for the in- ternational awards program will be accepted from January 22 through March 29 on the Dow Packaging Innovation Awards website. This is the second year Dow is the title sponsor of the globally recognized awards program, carrying on the tradition started by DuPont more than 30 years ago. The Packaging Innovation Awards carry on as the industry’s longest-running independently judged awards program. As in years past, Dow is assembling an international panel of independent judges from many disciplines to provide a global perspective across design, engineering, retail, e-commerce, con- verting and academia. Going For Gold Last year’s program featured more than 200 entries from companies in more than 30 countries, and it re- sulted in nine Diamond Finalist winners, eight Gold Award winners and 11 Silver Award winners, in addi- tion to the best-in-class Diamond Award winner. FLAG Expands Programs For Independent Converters FLAG (Flexo Label Advantage Group LLC) has start- ed the year with two new programs that are being of- fered exclusively to its 90+ member organization. FLAG has launched a series of 2019 virtual “Lunch and Learn” sessions to provide its members with tips to help grow their businesses, improve produc- tivity and impact their bottom line. The program began with a presentation on Lean by Brian Van de Water, CEO, SPL Consulting, LLC on January 17. Van de Water covered Lean principles, how they can be integrated to a converter’s strategic plan, how to help employees embrace its concepts and how to sustain results. Bay Cities Opens New Pack Out Facility

Pamarco, GAMA Donate Ink System To Clemson

Bay Cities, a packaging and design company, has opened a new 90,628-square-foot pack out facility in Commerce, California.The facility is in full operation and is already processing several programs. The Commerce facility has 16 loading docks and of- fers around-the-clock security. The services that will be provided are: pallet display pack out; full POP display pack out, kitting, rework, labeling, sorting and bundling; blister, cold seal, heat and IR sealing; and assembly for products, packaging and displays. On The Production Line The Commerce facility will be certified and li- censed for AIB (American Institute of Baking), ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control), FDA (Federal Drug Ad- ministration), California Department of Public Health - Certified Organic, Processed Food, Pharmaceutical Wholesale Drug Permit and USDA Organic. With the addition of the Commerce facility, Bay Cities’ facilities now consist of 650,000 square feet of combined space, more than 96 loading docks and more than 20 production lines.

Pamarco and GAMA have teamed up for the installa- tion and training needed for a GAMA ink viscosity, pH and temperature control system at Clemson Uni- versity’s Printcon facility.

This donation is valued in excess of $50,000 and will provide additional tools for education and train- ing of the next generation of flexo packaging profes- sionals as well as attendees at regular industry training seminars.
