TLMI Advocates On Capitol Hill reported by Greg Kishbaugh

On June 12, Mark Andy co-hosted a special event with Esko at its Euro- pean headquar ter s in War saw, Poland. The event, which attracted 50 representatives from printing companies around Eastern Europe, included live demos of Mark Andy presses and Esko prepress solutions, the most important of which high- lighted label printing using Esko Equinox software. The primary focus of the meeting was to present Mark Andy and Esko’s response to market trends, such as smaller runs and shorter de- livery times. Participants were shown how to prepare jobs using Equinox, which
TT LMI leadership and staff joined nearly a dozen other spon- soring organizations on Capitol Hill at the annual Print and Packaging Legislative Summit, June 19-20. The Summit marked a milestone for the organization, as it was the first formal event on Capitol Hill for TLMI. This year’s event saw the Summit’s highest attendance to date, with more than a 100 participants engaged on important legislative and regulatory issues.
Leadership from the Printing Industries of America (PIA), As- sociation for Print Technologies (formerly NPES) and the Spe- cialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) were just a few of the allied organizations TLMI spent time with discussing leg- islative, regulatory and industry initiatives. Connecting with these organizations and strengthening the voice of TLMI in Washington, DC, is a key directive of the TLMI Strategic Plan. Joining TLMI President Dan Muenzer at the Summit were: Michael Ritter, incoming TLMI Chairman; Gary Jones, CEO, Dot- It Label;Alex Joesten,TLMI Government Affairs Committee Co- Chair; Rosalyn Bandy, TLMI Director of Environment and Outreach; and Bryan Vickers, who covers government affairs is- sues for TLMI. To help kick off the event,TLMI moderated the Recycling and Environmental Regulations panel, which covered a variety of industry topics, including PROP 65; California recycling legisla- tion; the impact of China’s contamination policy on the U.S.
