Take a Day at the Beach
and our spring schedule. But despite the chill outside, the sunny spirit of Mexico has stayed with me. I feel more relaxed, refreshed, and recharged than I did when I left. When I think about the positive feelings associated with my trip, it’s like I took a mental vacation, as well as a physical one. We could all use a reminder to take mental breaks now and then, couldn’t we? If you’ve been feeling like your fitness routine could use a recharge, this month also brings many opportunities to do that. We’ve been longtime fans of the Les Mills workout programs because they exhibit an upbeat, fresh take on fitness that is always evolving. It’s the reason we offer so many of their classes. On March 25, we presented the 100th — yes, you read that right! — edition of Body Attack. Come join us for one of these active, fun- filled workouts! We look forward to seeing you here and starting spring off right! -Dave Morin
Though there are amazing sights to be seen outside the resort, we had little reason to leave. It was too nice to soak up the sun poolside while reading a good book. With delicious food, tons of fruit and vegetables, fresh seafood, and wine, what more could you want? We ate outside for every meal, surrounded by the beautiful tropical landscape. We enjoyed lobster tails one evening, and surf and turf the next. I watched the sun come up most mornings just to take it all in. It was also wonderful to catch up with our friends, some of whom we’ve known for 20 years. Most of our companions came from Rhode Island, though one couple joined us from Florida. Three of our friends are siblings and had the chance to reunite during the trip. We talked, ate, relaxed, and all caught up on much-needed rest during this vacation. If you get the chance to travel someplace warm during the winter months, I highly recommend taking a trip like this — one with no agenda, just relaxation. Of course, life can’t always be a day at the beach. Now that I returned to the club, it’s right back to focusing on fitness
After returning from our excursion south of the border, I’m back at the club feeling refreshed and ready to jump into spring here at home. Our trip was a great way to start the season. On a chilly Saturday morning last month, Linda and I headed to the airport with eight of our friends. We were ready for the warmer weather and sunnier skies of Mexico. I shared with you how we were looking forward to this trip and that our friends sent weekly emails with the countdown leading up to our departure. You know the feeling you have sometimes when you are so excited for an event that the reality ends up disappointing you? Well, that was not the case with this vacation. We arrived at our resort around 2 p.m. that Saturday, and it was the beginning of seven days of pure rest and relaxation. After living in the 30-degree weather of the East Coast for the past few months, our skin was so happy to feel the warm air and sun. It was incredible to go outside without needing a sweatshirt.

Your Dinner Table Might Be the Key to a Happier Family
Call All Hands on Deck Mom or Dad shouldn’t be expected to cook by themselves for every meal. This is family time, after all, so call in the kids! Make sure their tasks are age-appropriate — leave sautéing vegetables to the high schooler and let your first-grader set out the cups instead. This is the perfect opportunity to teach kids valuable kitchen skills and to take some of the burden off your plate. Plus, if your kids are picky eaters, inviting them to be part of the cooking process can make them more inclined to try the finished product. Don’t Stress Yourself Out It’s okay if you’re too busy on a Monday to cook dinner. There’s always Tuesday. Or you can take a trip to your favorite family restaurant. Family meals should be fun, and that can’t happen if you’re stressed. Don’t feel pressured to make each meal perfect or to prepare a three-course dinner every night. Chicken and rice can get the job done as long as you’re all sitting around the table as a family. No matter how hectic your schedule may be, making family meals a priority is always worth the investment. Who’s in the mood for meatloaf?
The family dinner is a staple of years gone by. These days, the only time you see a family sit together and break bread seems to be at Thanksgiving. This is a shame, because regular family dinners are incredibly important! It’s a time to bond with your loved ones that can have a positive impact on your kids’ lives. A study published in the journal Pediatrics found that kids who regularly partake in family meals are less likely to experience depression or engage in drug use. Furthermore, The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University determined that kids who eat family meals five to seven times a week bring home better report cards. Even when schedules are busy, you can make family dinners fit Dinner doesn’t have to be at 6 p.m. on the dot. If Kamala has a karate tournament in the evening or Peter needs to stay late at school for art club, why not break out the healthy snacks and make dinner happen a little later or earlier? Plus, the meal you share as a family doesn’t have to be at dinnertime. If there’s time in the mornings, sit down for breakfast. If you have the opportunity on weekends or during a school break, grab lunch together. into your agenda with these tips. Be Flexible About Mealtimes
THE LEGACY OF LES MILLS Celebrating the 100th Release of Body Attack
The workouts stay fresh, too. Every three months, a new version is released. That means updated music and a modern routine for Body Attack, Body Pump, and all your favorite Les Mills classes. This month, we debuted the 100th release of Body Attack. To mark this special event, we held the debut workout on our tennis courts on March 25! Come join one of these sessions and be among the first to try the 100th Body Attack release! In early April, we’re also opening our outside obstacle course. We have more information for you on Page 3 about the best way try it out and why it might be the workout for you.
In 1968, four-time Olympian Les Mills opened a gym in New Zealand. In the ‘80s, his son, Phillip Mills (also an Olympian), and his wife, Jackie, began to develop high-energy classes for strength and aerobic conditioning set to upbeat, modern music. This initial idea would eventually become the wildly popular Les Mills fitness program, debuting in the U.S. in the ‘90s. The rest, as they say, is history. we’ve had them at our club for over 20 years. The reason? They work. They’re fun, our trainers enjoy teaching them, our members enjoy taking them, and people see results. As Fore Court owner David Morin says, “It goes to show the continuity and professionalism of the programs.” Les Mills’ workouts have long been a standard of fitness at Fore Court;

Think You Can’t Complete Our Obstacle Course?
Adam Says You’re Wrong
Adam should know: he competed in his first obstacle course race in 2010, and for the past 2 years, he qualified for and attended the Obstacle Course World Championships in Canada. He’s looking forward to competing in the race in England this year. On top of that, he’s a certified personal trainer. He and his co-coach, Austin, work together to help members reach their goals on the course.
But what about people with previous injuries or various fitness levels? Can the obstacle course really be an option for them?
Obstacle course racing — you may have heard of it in the form of a Spartan Race or a Tough Mudder mud run. A full body workout, completing an obstacle course requires strength, balance, and endurance to make it over, under, and through various hurdles. Think this type of workout isn’t for you? Think again. Adam Wolry is half of our two-person team of trainers who take members through the Fore Court obstacle course. He’s a firm believer that this workout, though challenging, is an option for anyone. “It doesn’t matter if you’re just there to lose weight, tone muscles, or prepare for your upcoming race — whatever you want to become better at or stronger with. It’s a full-body sport,” Adam says. “Obstacle course racing makes you stronger from a mental standpoint. To overcome all these obstacles, sometimes you have to will yourself through it.” Have a Laugh!
“Absolutely,” says Adam. “One of the reasons I became a trainer is because I had so many injuries myself that I’ve come back from. I want to share my knowledge with others. Everything can be scaled for someone’s needs and for whatever their capabilities are. We have people who are 60 coming on the course, and we actually open it up to kids, too. You just have to know how to scale things so that people can be successful. We can always find a way to do that. Right now, one of our members who has only one arm is going through the course, and he can get over the walls. There’s really no reason you can’t do it. There is no ‘I can’t.’ If you want to be successful, we’ll find a way to get you there.”

Zesty Zucchini Enchiladas
Ingredients
• 2 teaspoons chili powder • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken • 2 cups shredded cheese • 1 can enchilada sauce
• 4 large zucchini • 1 tablespoon olive oil or ghee
• 1 large onion, chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 2 teaspoons cumin
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350 F. In a large skillet, heat oil. Add onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, and salt to taste. Stir to combine. Sauté chicken for 2 minutes, then add 1 cup of the enchilada sauce. 2. Use vegetable peeler to thinly slice zucchini lengthwise. Lay out three slices, slightly overlapping, and spoon chicken mixture on top. Roll the zucchini “tortilla” and place on baking sheet. Repeat until all zucchini and chicken is used. 3. Cover the enchiladas with remaining sauce and sprinkle with cheese. Bake 20 minutes, and enjoy! Adapted from delish.com

Unlike their biggest competitor, Perrier, they’ve designed their packaging to be fun and inviting. There’s nothing stodgy about their branding, and the same goes for the price point. In many grocery stores, it’s cheaper than bottled water! LaCroix’s recipe of affordable, natural, and delicious has made the soda industry giants green with envy. They’re racing to create competitive products that will recapture the market. If you haven’t jumped on the LaCroix bandwagon yet, there’s no better time than now. Who knew that sparkling water could be so cool? The people at LaCroix did, and they’ve bubbled to the top of people’s minds as a result. It’s a sweet success story, no sugar added.

As we become a more health-conscious society, more people are replacing their soda habit with a LaCroix obsession. In fact, you probably know a zealous fan of the sparkling water. Without any big advertising budget, LaCroix has created an army of admirers. In the past few years, the brand has exploded in popularity, and it will only get more ubiquitous as 2018 continues. You don’t have to be a dentist or a dietitian to know that soda is bad for you. It’s basically water, high fructose corn syrup, acid, and coloring. In comparison, LaCroix is just sparkling water with
