interest to maintain your oral health by having your teeth cleaned regularly and fixing any dental problems which may be occurring. Here at the practice, we continue to see patients one at a time with all CDC precautions in effect. Our multiple Surgically Clean Air hospital grade purification systems are all working 24/7 cleaning the air six times per hour. It is also good to venture out and actually be inside a protected environment where we can enhance your health and enliven your day. One thing I can be grateful for is that I get to be out and about by coming to the office each day and interacting with you. For me, time flies by, and hopefully with time, this pandemic will also pass. I’ve decided to include upbeat articles within the rest of this newsletter edition to hopefully lift up your spirits. My continual wish is for all of you to remain healthy, mentally strong, and financially stable. I look forward to seeing you soon.

STRENGTHENING YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
Needed Now More Than Ever
Fear and negative emotions are not good for your immune system. You need to banish them or at least reduce them from you daily interactions. All negativity is caused by denial of the present and is inner resistance to what is, preventing you from getting what you want. Worry is fear projecting yourself into an imaginary future where things could go wrong. Fear is false evidence that appears real. To complain is nonacceptance of what is. You can overcome your complaining by either leaving the situation, changing it, or accepting it. There are no other alternatives. So, what can you do? You are dealt a hand provided by your ancestors. Your genetic makeup is a definite factor, and you have what you have, but it is always better to be proactive than reactive. There is no short-term fix, but what you do in the long term is what really matters.
Do you know that your body is always under assault? Your immune system continually works to allow your survival. During the year, there are times when a world war is going on within your body. Your body is under attack, you feel awful, but your body’s defenses are mobilizing to combat the ongoing storm. The bugs enter, the attack begins, and after a time, the cavalry arrives to bring you victory. Science and medicine have progressed to provide drugs to help your body persevere from the onslaught, but ultimately, it is your body’s own defenses which allow you to prevail.
This is what I am doing, but remember to consult your physician before beginning any new regimen.
I am taking vitamins every day and have been taking them for decades. The type of vitamins I take has varied over the years based on my readings of the Berkeley Health and Andrew Weil’s newsletters, but currently, each day I take a baby aspirin, 500mg vitamin C, 250mg vitamin E, 400 IU vitamin D3, a One A Day multivitamin, 1500mg of glucosamine sulfate, and one Lovaza omega-3 fish oil capsule. Twice a week, I am doing an hour of aerobic exercise in my apartment. Fortunately, our living room has enough space to allow a workout on wood parquet floor tiles, alleviating impact on my body. I also walk about 2 miles per day. The important takeaway is you need to get your resting heart rate up to 70% of maximum capacity for 20 minutes, three times per week, strengthening your heart muscles and your heart, leading to a healthier life. Maintaining your flexibility is important for your overall health and balance. I am hopeful that at some point our building’s swimming pool will reopen and I feel confident enough to use it. Swimming provides a great body workout with minimum impact to your joints. I do need to watch my caloric intake, since I have been regularly eating a little too much comfort food. Finally, I believe in meditation, something I have been doing daily for almost 25 years. This began in California from a friend telling me to read the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, which describes the basis of the meditation I do. When reading it, you will not totally believe what he is saying until you actually experience it, but it is real and can be obtained with continual practice and desire. In essence, meditation is the ability to turn OFF your conscious mind. Can you quietly sit still, find the off switch to your mind, and then fully experience the inner energy we all possess? Its real advantage is to slow down the aging process by slowing down your body’s inner clock in comparison to time progression in the outside world. You age slower and look younger than your real chronological age. It increases the inner vibrational frequency of your body’s cells, making you more porous, allowing outside threats to pass through you faster. You get sick less often and of shorter duration. The sooner you start, the better, but anytime is better than not starting at all.

Smartwatches have many features that already exist on your smartphone but they are more easily accessible. But just how much easier or better is a smartwatch? Well, that depends. STYLISH OPTIONS Smartwatch manufacturers have worked hard to create something sleek and functional — a wrist accessory that looks like it belongs on a camping trip as much as it does at a black-tie gala. You can even change the wallpaper of some models to a digital clock, an elegant watch face, or anything in between. However, that versatile style comes at a pretty steep price — usually somewhere between $200 and $400. So, while looks aren’t the only thing smartwatches have to offer, you have to decide if their utility justifies the cost. CONNECTIVITY ON THE GO When you’re out mountain biking, running in the hills, or maybe going for a dip in the pool, having a smartphone with you can be more of a burden than a blessing. Smartwatches, on the other hand, are designed to go wherever you go. Some are even waterproof! That means wherever you are, if you get lost or hurt, you can

Smartwatches aren’t nearly as ubiquitous as smartphones, and it doesn’t seem like they will be anytime soon. However, for the right person with the right lifestyle, a smartwatch might just be the next must-have tech.
ASPARAGUS AND SMOKED MOZZARELLA PIZZETTES

1 cup shredded smoked mozzarella cheese
•
1 lb prepared whole-wheat pizza dough, divided into 6 equal portions 12 oz asparagus spears, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces

1/3 cup scallions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp walnuts, toasted and chopped 1 sprig of fresh mint leaves, torn

1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Zest of 1 orange
1/4 tsp salt
5. Remove both trays from the oven, sprinkle cheese over the dough, then top with asparagus and scallions. 6. Return pizzettes to oven and bake until the crusts' edges are golden, about 8–10 minutes. 7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with walnuts, mint, and orange zest before serving.
1. Preheat oven to 500 F and ensure there are two racks in your oven. 2. Line a large baking sheet with
parchment paper, stretch each piece of dough into a 7-by-3-inch oval and arrange evenly on the pan.
3. On a second baking sheet, toss
asparagus with oil and 1/4 tsp salt. 4. Place dough on top rack and asparagus on bottom and bake for 3 minutes.

Being locked out from going out and doing the normal things, I have been watching more TV. Here are some highlights from what I’m watching.
ON HBO PLUS 'His Dark Materials' – An intelligent fantasy adventure with two seasons now available.
ON DISNEY PLUS ' The Mandalorian' – If you like "Star Wars," this is better. Can’t top The Child.
ON NETFLIX ' The Crown' – A bit dry like the English but definitely worth your while and quite informative.
Real Sports – Giving us an inside look into sports.
'Hamilton' – Since I don’t fit in the seats at the theater, this is a better experience for me.
'Pretend It’s a City' – About our city from Marty Scorsese and Fran Lebowitz.
And don’t forget the most personal form of entertainment — reading a BOOK where the author talks directly to YOU with you using your mind to fill in the picture and thereby keeping your mind active.
