GOLF INSTRUCTION MEN, WOMEN, & JUNIORS

Dear Members,

Whether you are a tournament player, or brand new to the game, playing better golf means having more fun. And the best way to improve quickly is with proper coaching. Led by our PGA Director of Instruction, Bob Lennon, our entire PGA Professional staff is dedicated to your improvement and enjoyment of the game. Please explore the following pages to see all of the programs we are offering in 2022.

INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, & PARTNER

INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION Led by all PGA Staff

There is simply no better way to improve all aspects of your game than to engage in one-on-one coaching with one of our PGA Professionals.

Individual Lesson Rates (45-minute lesson) Michael Shank, PGA, $120 Bob Lennon, PGA, $110 Assistant Golf Professionals, $90

Clinic Rates (1-hour clinic) All Professional Staff 2 students, $65 each 3 students, $55 each 4+ students, $45 each

Junior Clinic Rates (1-hour clinic age 14 and under) All Professional Staff 2 students, $50 each 3 students, $40 each 4+ students, $30 each

MINI PRACTICE CLUB Available with any Golf Professional

Grab your friends, pick a date and time, and enjoy five 1-hour sessions. Instruction covers all areas of the game including short game, long game and on-course. Call the Golf Shop to schedule, 302-655-6022.

Max of 6 Players per Instructor 2 people / $325 each for five hours 3 people / $275 each for five hours 4 or more / $225 each for five hours

COUPLES GOLF CLASS Grab your spouse or significant other and learn how to improve your golf game together. Each week will cover a different topic. Sign-up for all classes, or just the classes that fit your schedule. After class stop by the pub for a complimentary drink on us!

Every Friday, April 29th to June 10th (No class May 13th), 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Cost is $100 per couple, per class

This 4-week program covers everything a brand-new beginner or newer players needs to know to jump start their golf game! Topics covered include what to do when you arrive at the course, fundamentals of the swing, on-course strategy, and more.

Class I: Every Thursday, April 14th to May 5th, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Class II: Every Thursday, May 12th to June 2nd, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Class III: Every Thursday, June 23rd to July 14th, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Class IV: Every Saturday, April 16th to May 7th, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Class V: Every Saturday, May 14th to June 11th (no class May 28th), 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Class VI: Every Saturday, July 9th to July 30th, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

MEN’S SHORT GAME MASTERY Led by Chad Halvonik, PGA, and Bob Lennon, PGA

This weekly class focuses on technique and strategy on all aspects of the short game from putting to full swing wedges. Our goal is to equip you with an understanding of how to execute a variety of shots and a game plan to take your new skills to the course.

Cost is $160 per class

WOMEN’S GOLF 201 Led by Bob Lennon, PGA and Andrea Grier, PGA

Weekly classes every Tuesday, May 3rd to May 31st, 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Cost is $45 per class.

This 4-week program is designed for women who play on the golf course occasionally and want to improve specific aspects of their game while learning how to practice more efficiently. Topics covered will include what to practice, bunker shots, short and long game improvement, and more. Class I: Every Thursday, April 14th to May 5th, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Class II: Every Thursday, May 12th to June 2nd, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Class III: Every Thursday, June 23rd to July 14th, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Class IV: Every Saturday, April 16th to May 7th, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Class V: Every Saturday, May 14th to June 11th (no class May 28th), 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Class VI: Every Saturday, July 9th to July 30th, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

PGA GOLF PROFESSIONAL STAFF

MICHAEL SHANK, PGA DIRECTOR OF GOLF Originally from the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Michael graduated from the Penn State Professional Golf Management program in 1999. Following school, he spent three seasons at Chevy Chase Club in Maryland and Jupiter Hills Club in Florida, before working five years at Ardsley Country Club in Westchester County, New York. Michael was the Head Golf Professional at North Shore Country Club on Long Island for 10 seasons previous to starting at Wilmington in 2018. He resides in nearby Pennsylvania his wife Heather and son Lucas. BOB LENNON, PGA DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION Bob Lennon attended Florida Southern College where he played on their National Championship golf team. He turned professional in 1984, and got his PGA membership in 1993. Bob was the founder and President of the South Jersey Junior Golf Foundation, a foundation that helped over 1200 chil-dren per year. He also owned the Bob Lennon Golf Learning Center at Blue Heron Pines and was the lead instructor for the Golf Digest Schools at Blue Heron Pines for 15 years. Bob has been the Director of Instruction at Wilmington Country Club since 2007. His playing highlights include participation in the Greater Hartford Open and the U.S. Senior Open. ANDREA GRIER, PGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Originally from Hagerstown, Maryland, Andrea grew up on the driving range and Par 3 course owned by her family. After playing golf for Marshall University where she earned an MBA in 2011, Andrea worked at several golf clubs in the Virginia Beach area before joining Wilmington in 2020. Andrea is leading the Women’s 18-Holers this season. COLE YOUNG, ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Originally from the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, Cole joined the Professional Staff at Wilmington in 2021. Previously Cole was an Assistant Professional at Woodstone Country Club in Pennsylvania, a junior golf coach with Eric Cogorno Golf in Bethlehem, and most recently at Greenville Country Club in South Carolina. Cole is a U.S. Kids Certified Coach, and will be the Junior Golf Coordinator this season. MATT ZEHNER, ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Originally from just outside of Lewes, Delaware, Matthew is joining us for his first full season at Wilmington. Previously Matt was a Professional Golf Management intern for Wilmington in the summer of 2019. He completed his Senior year of classwork at Penn State University in the spring of 2021. During his time in the PGM program, Matt was an intern at The Peninsula, Wilmington, and most recently East Hampton Golf Club in 2020 where he worked for Augusta National Co-Head Professional Tony Sessa. Matthew will be leading the Women’s 9-Holers this season. RYAN RUCINSKI, APPRENTICE GOLF PROFESSIONAL Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Ryan is joining us for his first full season at Wilmington. Ryan is a graduate from Wilmington University, and played professionally for a time following college. He is currently working toward PGA membership, with aspirations to continue competing in the game of golf in the future.
