WELCOME TO HAMILTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

On behalf of the children, staff, parents and governors I am very pleased to welcome you to Hamilton Primary School. Our school was built in 1914 and has been a very important part of our local community since it opened. We believe very strongly in helping children to achieve their potential and preparing for life in the 21st century. Our vision is for a school that provides a high quality education in a caring, creative environment conducive to learning. This motivates each child in a positive way and helps them to find interest, satisfaction and a sense of achievement in their schoolwork and a sense of wonder in the world around them. Please do have a good look around the school and if you have any further questions feel free to ask any member of staff. We look forward to welcoming you to our family. Nick Hutchings - Headteacher

Be Kind We understand that starting school is a new, exciting and sometimes daunting experience for your child and in many cases for you as parents. We want to make this transition as easy as possible for both you and your child.

During your child’s first term at school we ensure good communication between school and home. You will meet with your child’s class teacher for a ‘Learning Conference’ in the early part of November to check on progress and how your child has settled in. Each class in Foundation Stage is supported by a fully trained Teaching Assistant every day. We also provide extra support across both classes during the mornings each week to ensure children have the highest possible care.

Each year we admit 60 pupils into our school. We contact the feeder nurseries, have face to face meetings with parents and give our new children the opportunity to spend a morning in school whilst parents have the opportunity to meet the Foundation Stage staff and the Senior Leadership Team of the school.

Be Safe

Children thrive at Hamilton and during their first 3 years at the school they grow enormously in character. Infant classes are held on the ground floor of the building and children are encouraged to be independent in their learning from the reading books they select to the tasks that they undertake in the classrooms. The school’s ‘CoreValues’ and ‘Code of Conduct’ are central to the ethos of the school and underpin every decision we make. During their time in the infants’ children have the opportunity to take part in a number of school trips (both local and further away).

They have regular assemblies, where they learn about all faiths. We have very close links with our local church and children are very fortunate to have a member of the church team lead an assembly once a week. Each year parents are entertained by their children through a class assembly on what has been learnt during the year and a year group play. These are moments when the community of Hamilton is brought together. It is also an opportunity for children to share their creative skills with teachers, parents and each other.

Be

Responsible

We are very proud of our excellent links with the other local primary and secondary schools. Year 6 children take part in a residential week each year in North Norfolk. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to team build, study the Human and Physical Geography of East Anglia and begin their transformation in to young adults. Hamilton Primary School has a very active parents’ association, known as the PSA. Each year they organise a number of events to raise funds for the school and children. Events include a summer fete, school discos and cake sales.

The school has its own breakfast and after school club, known as the ‘Hamilton Hub’. It is run by Hamilton staff and has spaces open for pupils of the school only. It runs during term time and further details can be found on the school website. More detailed information about the school can be found on our website. Please do contact the school office team if you would like any further information.
