How to Find Relief From Sciatica and Back Pain? HANDS ON PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN HELP

What Causes Sciatica? In most cases, sciatica occurs when one of the back’s discs are herniated. It can also happen if the spine narrows — an effect called spinal stenosis. As we age, our backs undergo a lot of stress. This stress takes a toll, causing inflammation in several areas. HEALTHY RECIPE: INGREDIENTS • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil • 1 small onion, diced • 2 tablespoons minced garlic • 2 jalapeños, finely diced • 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth

• One 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes • One 14.5-ounce can black beans, • 3 chicken breasts, boneless • 2 limes • Salt & black pepper Chicken Tortilla soup

• 1 cup chopped cilantro leaves • One 8-inch flour tortilla • 1 avocado • 1 cup shredded Monterrey cheese

INSTRUCTIONS In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil. Add the onions and cook for 2 minutes. Once the onions have softened, add the garlic and jalapeños and cook for another minute. Pour the chicken broth, tomatoes and beans into the pot and bring to a boil. Once at a boil, lower heat to simmer and add your chicken breasts. Cook the chicken for 20 to 25 minutes. Once chicken is cooked,remove from pot. When cool enough to handle shred it and set it aside. Add lime juice and fresh cilantro to the pot. In a serving bowl, add a mound of shredded chicken. Ladle soup over chicken and top with a lime wedge, grilled tortilla strips, avocado slices and cheese.

Something called BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) is a common cause of vestibular issues. A calcium carbonate crystal is moved from its location in the inner ear portion called the utricle. It may happen due to trauma, aging, or an infection. A technique called the Epley maneuver is performed to treat BPPV. It uses manual techniques to reposition the canaliths in inner ear. It is often very successful at relieving vertigo. Many times it totally eliminates the symptoms of vertigo on the first visit. After the Epley maneuver successfully eliminates dizziness, the therapist then progresses to Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy. This is a series of exercises designed to prevent dizziness symptoms from returning and improve balance.
