INTRODUCTION We are seeking to appoint a Senior Engineering Manager – Mechanical to be subject matter expert of Harrods critical mechanical infrastructure, distribution and associated asset base. The successful candidate will be the mechanical lead for the Harrods property portfolio, as well as being responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the 24/7 mechanical shift team, providing leadership and support to ensure best practice. Opened by Charles Henry Harrod, an East End grocer and tea merchant, in 1834, relocating to Knightsbridge in 1849, the Harrods store is recognised globally as a symbol of excellence. The desire to make the impossible possible is embedded in their culture. This is why today, they ask all of their colleagues to believe in the Art of the Possible. To challenge all conventional views of what is and isn’t possible and in turn creating new possibilities into an art form. Working closely with the head of FM, you will contribute to the implementation and management of the Capital Investment Plan and delivery of the maintenance strategy for all mechanical systems throughout the estate. As part of the senior leadership team, you will undertake the duty manager role as required, responsible for the delivery of all facility services across the estate.

KNIGHTSBRIDGE Harrods is a truly iconic landmark known all over the world – we work in and around the beautiful Harrods building. We’ve been located in Knightsbridge since 1849 when our founder Charles Henry Harrods moved his business here from East London. Today, Harrods is one of the world’s few single-site department stores, occupying a prime five-acre site along the Brompton Road. What the customers see is only part of our story– we have a distribution centre hidden beneath the city in seven underground floors, kitchens galore, a fantastic bespoke alterations team, state of the art security and our retail support teams. The Harrods store is rich in history but modernising all the time. We’re proud to be part of its development. HAMMERSMITH Harrods Headquarters and home to many of our exceptional teams. From HR, eCommerce, Creative, Marketing, Corporate, Buying and many more, over 800 of our people are now based in our two towers and eight floors of modern office space. Situated in a prime position between Hammersmith and Kensington Olympia. These offices are more spacious than Knightsbridge, and they are open plan and flexible with lots of areas to be creative. THATCHAM Our state-of-the-art distribution centre is in Thatcham, West Berkshire. POSITION PURPOSE • Responsible for all aspects of Mechanical Engineering at Harrods Knightsbridge. • To manage specific operational teams, namely: Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, HVAC, BMS, Plumbing and Water Management operations. • To provide a peer engineering overview of all projects undertaken within the Knightsbridge store and linked buildings, ensuring correctness of design, installation, commissioning and record documentation. • To become the Water Management’s ‘Responsible Person’ for Harrods Ltd. And any other specific responsible person positions. • Technical Support to all Harrods Divisions including those outside of Engineering and Facilities Management including Sustainability Committee and other cross- functional areas. • Critical member of the Facilities & Engineering Department Senior Management Team. • Leads a Duty Management Team with responsibility for the team when on rota.

JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES • Lead and manage all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering function.
• Liaise with other managers within the store for matters relating to; temperature control, and environmental conditions. • Set and manage PPM schedules, including a continuous review of procedures and periods. • Set clear actions and objectives for staff and monitor through regular meetings and appraisals. • Support other project teams providing information related to existing services and project strategies. • Manage the development and execution of engineering projects when called upon. • Undertake peer reviews of O&M manuals and record information and track the status. • Maintain accurate engineering drawings through a CAD operator, ensuring that all project information is transferred onto the master drawings. • Undertake surveys of existing engineering services and documents. • Manage talent/succession planning and ensure the team is resilient.
• Assist in setting capital and revenue budgets; manage own budgets once set. • Develop engineering strategies to help ensure the resilience of the department. • Provide a peer overview of building service performance and feedback to the relevant teams. • Review operations/systems/infrastructure to optimise performance and efficiency. • Develop, get approval for and implement solutions where required, in parallel with operations. • Liaise with other operational teams to develop/implement integrated strategies. • Provide assistance to project teams in respect to existing services and project strategies. • Provide a peer overview of projects to ensure correctness of design, installation, commissioning and record documentation in relation to Harrods own specification. • Integrate / coordinate any strategic engineering upgrades into projects; including: Sprinklers, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, Electrical systems, pipework services and controls. • Establish and maintain the Harrods Engineering specification. • Management of Refrigeration systems, HVAC, BMS, Plumbing / Pipefitting and Sprinkler systems and the Harrods Water Management processes and procedures. • Monitor performance of operatives and managers and take action where necessary. • Project Management of specific engineering projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION
OTHER • Degree level electrical or mechanical engineer or qualified to a minimum HNC in a building services related subject – Preferably CEng or IEng or working towards CEng. • Minimum of 10-years’ experience in a building services management role, having a level of construction or project management experience. • Self- Motivated and able to work, and inspire a team to work under pressure. • Possess a good all round knowledge of building services in general, but especially electrical power, mechanical, water treatment and cooling tower operations, refrigeration, lefts/escalators, controls, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. • On a rota basis, provide operational engineering cover for weekends, bank holidays and late night store opening. • Be a great leader of teams, looking to continuously improve self, others and the department. • Represent Head of Facilities and other colleagues, maintaining the departments reputation.
