WHAT CHRIS ROCK AND WILL SMITH SHOULD’VE LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN

I’m as shocked as anyone over Will Smith smacking Chris Rock at the Oscars after Rock told a tasteless joke about Smith’s wife. What’s even more shocking is how easily this could’ve been prevented. We learned this stuff in kindergarten. I know some nice fella wrote a book on this topic about 30 years ago, but I never read it. For the sake of avoiding a galactic embarrassment for future generations, get back on the bus y’all — we’re going to kindergarten. 1. Don’t pick on people. Chris, you made a joke about Will’s wife being bald. Chris, we don’t pick on people for how they look. We especially don’t pick on people with diseases or disabilities. You see, Chris, she’s got a disease that makes her hair fall out. She didn’t really choose to shave her head. Imagine how painful that must be for her. It took a lot of courage for her to go to a public event on international television. And honestly Chris, she looked radiant. What you said was mean. I’ll give you the biggest smack in the face any comedian could get: It wasn’t funny. 2. We don’t hit. Will, control yourself. As my boy Jack said in all of his 13-year-old wisdom, you just won the biggest award of your life and now all anyone will ever talk about is how you smacked that guy. You were there to be anointed for “King Richard.” You acted like the Dukes of Hazzard. You need a time out, not an award. 3. The devil didn’t make you do it. You did. Will, if only you’d gotten Denzel’s wisdom before it was too late. The devil does come for us. But that’s a warning, not an excuse. Will, when the devil came to the Oscars, you held the door for him and let him take a seat at the head of the table. You’re stronger than that.

4. Say you’re sorry like you mean it. For both of you, social media apologies don’t count. If you’re “man” enough to publicly call out someone for their appearance or smack someone on international TV, surely you have the courage to admit wrong and ask for forgiveness in person. You know, man to man. 5. Hug. That’s the only way we get full closure here. Then we can all be friends. As always, know we’re here for you to peaceably resolve legal disputes, and the only one who might get smacked is the insurance company’s wallet.

Testimonials HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

–Stephie W “Mr. Usry went out of his way to help me navigate a difficult case with my daughter, and while he wasn’t able to help me in the long run, he was thorough in his discovery period, kept in constant contact with me, and kept me abreast of what he was doing. In the end, together, we decided the case wasn’t worth pursuing, but if I ever need help in the future, Rob would be the first person I would reach out to. He was kind, professional, and above all else, his number one concern was my daughter’s wellbeing. A+ for effort, professionalism, and compassion. Thank you, Rob!”

MORE THAN A SETTLEMENT How We Won Medical Treatment for Our Client

Good News Rob requested another hearing, where he presented evidence to a workers’ compensation commissioner, showing why the surgeon recommended the operation. The surgery was not experimental; the only other option would lead to a full knee replacement at too early an age. In short, prompt treatment would give our client a better chance of regaining and preserving mobility. insurance company refused to provide care. She came to Rob, who convinced the insurance company that she needed her left knee treated as well. This case shows how aggressive workers’ compensation insurance companies can be in denying treatments so they can inflate their own profit margins. Several months later, the insurance company again denied treatment by refusing to pay for an operation recommended by the surgeon the insurance company selected. The insurance company claimed it shouldn’t pay because Medicare deemed the surgery experimental. Our client got hurt at work when she slipped on gravel at The Charles Lea Center’s basketball court in Spartanburg. In fact, she tore a right knee ligament — her ACL. The employer’s workers’ compensation insurance company paid for her initial treatment. But three years later, her right knee injury caused problems with her left knee, and the

At that point, the insurance company likely revealed the true reason for its denial: The procedure just cost too much. Rob overcame the insurance company’s arguments by pointing out that the overriding purpose of the workers’ compensation system is to reduce disability and achieve relief or a cure for work injuries. The law does not allow an employer or insurance company to dictate medical treatment. The commissioner concluded that denying the recommended surgery could potentially increase and prolong disability — by forcing our client into a knee replacement too early — and ordered that the insurance company pay for it. This case also shows how devastating some work injuries can be. As a result of her work accident, our client had seven knee surgeries in six years. We ultimately settled her case for $49,156.30, the rest of the money benefits she could get under workers’ compensation. But most importantly, the insurance company agreed to pay for all future medical care for both knees, which is especially vital since the surgeon virtually assured her she’ll likely need at least one of them replaced. This result is specific to the facts and law of that client’s case. Any result for a prior client does not necessarily indicate similar results can be obtained for other clients.

Directions 1. In a large pot, add eggs and cover with water. Put on high heat, and then boil eggs for 10 minutes. 2. Once boiled, peel eggs by gently tapping and removing the shell. (Adding the eggs to an ice bath after boiling can make this task easier.) 3. Cut eggs lengthwise and place yolks into a medium mixing bowl. Set egg white halves open side up on a plate. 4. In a bowl, combine yolks, yogurt, mustard, lemon juice, and hot sauce (if desired) until smooth. 5. Transfer the yolk mixture into the egg white halves. Garnish with paprika and chives if desired.

Green Places for Small Spaces

Spring has officially arrived! As the weather warms up around the country, people are heading outside to refresh their gardens. But what if you live in a small space, like an apartment, or simply don’t have any backyard space to accommodate growing your own plants? If you’re in that situation, use these three areas to help your plants thrive!

A Balcony or Patio Most pots can sit on balcony and patio floors while still getting

enough sunlight to properly grow. Just remember to water

them appropriately and bring them inside if the weather turns bad! In Windows Windows can provide the perfect space for plants to absorb sunlight without the

need to manage their location. Bay windows are ideal, but you can also place plants on the windowsill.

The Entryway Plants don’t just have to grow on the ground or in pots! An entryway can let you go vertical with your greenery while staying out of the way of visitors.
