MY LOVE FOR AN AMERICAN FAVORITE Pizza! Pizza!
Feb. 9 is National Pizza Day. Though I’m not sure why anyone would need an excuse to indulge in some pizza, I will take the opportunity to talk about one of my favorite foods. I’m a meat pizza guy, so give me a pie topped with pepperoni, bacon, and sausage, and I’m in heaven.
that I’ll try to hunt down a Papa John’s — they’ve got an incredible garlic sauce. I also like to look for local places, and once I even tried a deep-dish pizza in Chicago, which was a lot more like a pie. Right here in Flint, I certainly have my favorites. Here are a few I especially like to visit. If you haven’t been, I recommend you check them out. Roma Pizzeria & Restaurant Roma’s has been in Flint for many years. They have
Our family’s most typical pizza order comes from Little Caesars. It’s not fancy, but it’s quick and easy, and most importantly, the kids will eat it. My older
son is very partial to his food. If you bring any other restaurant’s pizza in the house, he immediately smells the difference and decides he doesn’t want it. When I was a kid, I might have enjoyed Little Caesars as much as my son does. I loved it so much, in fact, that I ended up getting a job there. I worked hard for years to become a customer favorite — people would come in and specifically ask me to make their meals. I wasn’t known for giving away a bunch of extra toppings, but I did have a strong desire to make the food taste delicious.
sandwiches, subs, salads, and pasta — but the pizza is their menu’s real star. If you’re a meat- lover like I am, you’ll also be a fan. They have some of the best toppings you could ask for, and I love their sausage and ground beef. Luigi’s Restaurant Luigi’s also has a long history in Flint — they first opened in 1955. They have an extensive menu, but their claim to fame is their thin-crust pizza. I agree they have every right to brag. If it’s a thin crust I’m looking for, Luigi’s is the place I go — it’s always crispy and delicious.
The Fenton House Restaurant Fenton House is a great sit-down restaurant, and you guessed it, I’m partial to their pizza. It always has that perfect brick oven taste, and they’re generous with the toppings. Here, you’ll never need to request extra cheese — what they give you is just right. I’m sure you have your own local favorites, so I hope you won’t hesitate to make your recommendations the next time you’re in the office. If there’s a good meat pizza out there I haven’t yet found, I’d love to try it.
I made everything the same way I’d want my own made. I think that’s what we all want when we go out to eat — to receive the same kind of quality we would make
for our own family. As a physical therapist, I carry that ethos forward. When a patient comes in with a problem, I’m determined to look after them with the same dedication and thoroughness I would give to one of my family members. When my kids aren’t a factor, I like to branch out. I love New York-style, thin-crust, and brick oven pizza. Nothing too fancy, though — I still want good old-fashioned American pizza, not the authentic Italian style without a lot of cheese. When I go out of town with Flint’s Finest, the kids always know

SUCCESS STOR I ES !
It was a truly wonderful experience using this location for my physical therapy treatment. The staff was full of nice and caring individuals who always made me feel welcome. I was weary at first because I was going into physical therapy at only 20 years old, but they got me all the treatment I could have asked for, and they never made me feel out of place. I would highly recommend Horizon Physical Therapy if you are looking for a great place to better yourself.

FALLING ... ARE YOU AT RISK? 3 Telltale Signs
You have a chronic condition . Did you know that more than 80% of older adults have a chronic health condition? Diabetes and arthritis, particularly when poorly managed, can increase the likelihood of having a fall. Prior stroke also puts a person at risk, and taking more than three prescription medications will make a fall more likely. Your doctor can conduct a full fall risk assessment. If you are at risk, don’t wait until after a fall to get help. Physical therapists can help you regain your balance and improve your lower body strength to make a fall less likely. A physical therapist will evaluate your needs and design a program that will give you greater strength, stability, and self-confidence. They may also be able to make recommendations to help you prevent tumbles at home, like installing railings, removing area rugs, and improving lighting. Whether you’ve previously fallen or are just concerned about the effects of aging, give Horizon PT a call today. We can customize treatment to help you stay safe and maintain your independence.
Every year people fall, including millions of people aged 65 or older. In fact, one in four older adults fall each year, and falling once doubles your chances of falling again. Annually, falls cause 95% of hip fractures, many traumatic brain injuries, and 800,000 hospitalizations. Worse, fall rates among older adults have been climbing, putting more people in danger. Until they fall, most people don’t consider themselves at risk — so you should know the warning signs. Here are three of the top indications that a fall is likely. You have trouble walking or getting up. Struggling to get out of a chair or needing support to do so, is a sign of weakness that can later lead to falls. Similarly, if you regularly use furniture, walls, or a mobility device for support while walking, it’s an indication that you are at increased risk of falling. You experience dizziness or balance problems. People who get dizzy or experience vertigo after standing are more likely to lose their balance and fall. We all occasionally stumble, so the ability to recover is essential to fall prevention. If you struggle with uneven or slick walking surfaces, consider it a warning sign.

Improve Your Health With Fitness Trackers
IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH WITH FITNESS TRACKERS
Sleep Monitoring Many fitness trackers give you insight into your sleep routine and will even track your movements so you can find out if you were tossing and turning all night. Others go further by detecting your body temperature, heart rate, and energy expenditure. You can use this information to create a sleep schedule that works for you or make any adjustments to your sleeping conditions if they are preventing you from getting a good night’s sleep. Over the past decade, wearable technology has seen an incredible boom. Wearables like Fitbits and the Apple Watch used to be nothing more than glorified step counters. This is because wearing a fitness tracker can add great benefits to your lifestyle and can even improve your daily life.
