HOWARD ORTHOTICS & PROSTHETICS SUPPORTS FORT DRUM & TROOPS
Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics has been supporting Fort Drum and the troops locally since opening in 2003. It has recently become even more personal for
provide our local troops and our veterans with prosthetic fingers from Naked Prosthetics, Socket-less Sockets from Martin Bionics and 3D printed removable prosthetic covers from UNYQ. With Naked Prosthetics, it’s all about function. As the only provider of Naked Prosthetics in the North Country, our CPO’s were able to provide two prosthetic fingers to a local soldier. This will improve his ability to do the things we all take for granted, like typing, buttoning a shirt and holding a drink. The prosthetic fingers are currently one of the most durable functional systems in the prostheticmarket. Not only are these prosthetic fingers durable, but they are also waterproof and able to hold up to the extreme conditions to which our soldiers are exposed. The soldiers of our 10thMountain Division train in some of the most rugged conditions and will undoubtedly put these prosthetic fingers to the test. (continued inside)

Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics as the owner’s son, Raymond Howard, joined the U.S. Air Force in May 2021. As the only orthotic and prosthetic company in the area who has two Certified Prosthetist Orthotists (CPO) on staff, Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics continues to lead theway in providing the latest cutting-edge technology available in the prosthetic and orthotic market. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the use of Telehealth a more readily accessible feature in the medical field. Through the use of Telehealth, our CPO’s have been able to work with up- and-coming companies to provide the latest technology to our patients in a safe environment. devices. This new generation of amputees are continuing to seek out exciting and unique looks to their prosthetic devices. The UNYQ 3D printed customcovers allow amputees to choose the color, pattern, and design of their prosthetic cover to express their own personalities. Recently, Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics provided custom prosthetic covers to one of our U.S. Marine veterans who is also a USA gold medal Paralympian in Sled Hockey. We had a lot of fun designing these covers and were able to have the design of his Gold Medal from the 2018 Paralympics printed onto his prosthetic covers. Now our Paralympic athlete is able towear his goldmedal daily, without getting a sore neck from carrying all that gold around his neck. The Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics team has continued to bring the latest prosthetic and orthotic technology to the North Country even through this pandemic. We look forward to our continued growth of patients and bringing the latest in orthotic and prosthetic technology to the North Country in our Watertown and Canton offices.
Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics has provided the Martin Bionics Socket- less socket to local veterans. This new socket technology uses a NASA inspired lightweight design which allows the prosthetic socket to weigh a fraction of the conventional sockets. The space age design allows this to be one of the least restrictive and coolest sockets in the market, both in looks and temperature. The design of this socket allows the amputee to adjust the socket to improve the fit of the socket as needed. This allows our amputees to keep living their lives and not make as many trips into our offices for minor adjustments. Amputees using this socket design are reporting a 94% increase in their sitting comfort thanks to the design of the socket. Howard Orthotics & Prosthetics has also started to provide 3D printed removable custom prosthetic covers. Custom prosthetic covers are designed to improve the overall cosmesis and body symmetry for amputees using prosthetic

PATIENT SUCCESS STORY
Success Story - Linda V. “I was seen by Roger today in his Watertown office and I must say I was very impressed. He was kind enough to see me without much notice, and even though I know he was fitting me into a very busy schedule in no way did I feel like he was trying to speed through our visit. He was approachable, knowledgeable, kind, and skilled. And he even explains things in a thoroughly understandable way. Altogether a positive experience!”
