Virtual Event/Facebook Live • August 13, 2020 • 10:00 a.m. Local volunteers and community members will join the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA for Children in taking a stand against child abuse through a live video on their Facebook pages with the first-ever Save Jane event. Leaders from the Texarkana community will read the names and ages of over 1,200 children who were reported as abused and received services through the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA in 2019. Because these children are minors and their identities must be protected, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” will be used in place of their names. The Save Jane inaugural event was launched in Dallas last year. This is the first year for the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA to join in the awareness effort. They would like to invite everyone to view this event live on their Facebook page. “The Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA hope that through Save Jane, Texarkana and the surrounding areas we serve will recognize the absolute magnitude and prevalence of child abuse—it is everywhere you look,” said Brandy Eldridge, Executive Director. “It will take over an hour of non-stop reading to name each child who came through our center last year. That is simply unacceptable. We will never stop fighting for these kids who have suffered unspeakable abuse. The Children’s Advocacy Center will continue to do our work, but we need the community’s help.” The mission of Northeast Texas CASA is to provide hope, healing, and justice by advocating for abused and neglected children through comprehensive services at the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center (TCAC) and CASA for Children. CASA and TCAC serve over 1,000 abused and neglected children each year that include cases of physical abuse and neglect, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and witness to violent crimes. The Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA would like to invite everyone to view this event live on their Facebook page and even Host a Watch Party on their own timeline to help spread the word. THE TEXARKANA CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER AND CASA RAISE AWARENESS FOR CHILD ABUSE WITH INAUGURAL SAVE JANE EVENT AREA TO READ NAMES REPRESENTING OVER 1,200 CHILDREN ABUSED LAST YEAR
I am Jane Doe. You won’t know who I am or hear my story, but I am one of the 1,200 kids who suffered abuse and received services through the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA last year. They stood by my side— fighting for me and restoring hope. ABOUT SAVE JANE Save Jane is a child abuse awareness event that was launched by Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) in 2019 with the goal of spreading awareness about the magnitude of child abuse, and about the organizations working in the field. CASA NEEDS 37 VOLUNTEERS! A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer is a dedicated member of the community who is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interest of an abused or neglected child in the state’s care. A CASA volunteer is an independent voice in court who advocates solely for the best interest of the child. You will be the voice making a real difference in a critical turning point in a child’s life. Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center… offers a safe place for children who are victims of abuse and their families to receive comprehensive services from dedicated professionals. These professional services are provided by forensic interviewers, therapists and advocates in a child-friendly environment through a coordinated team approach with local law enforcement, District Attorneys, CPS, etc, as well as community education.
