MANUAL Internship

At Shangri-La we support, train and value young people, as we recognise the valuable skills student interns bring to our business. We understand the importance of nurturing talent and providing worthwhile work experience opportunities. The duration of the internship may be no less than 6 months subject to management discretion.

Objectives

✓ To support the hospitality sector by furthering the educational objectives of hotel management institutes. ✓ To support the career aspirations of young talent entering the industry by providing them with an opportunity for on-job experience. ✓ To develop human resources for future recruitment. ✓ To acquire short-term labour, particularly during lean business periods.

Recruitment Process

All applicants will undergo an interview, in-person or via video conferencing. Telephonic interviews must be avoided, except in inevitable circumstances. For successful interview, an internship contract will be emailed to the candidate. The candidate will then sign and send back the contract together with all essential documents.

Essential Documents All selected overseas interns must produce the following documents for internal recruitment formalities and visa application :

✓ Copy of passport (at least 6 months validity from the proposed date of entry. (1 year validity if internship period is 1 year) ✓ Candidate profile ✓ Passport photo ✓ Medical Test Result ✓ Letter from School (Optional)

Stipend & Service Charge

Monthly stipend should be offered to all interns with more than 6 months internship.

Service charge entitlement is up to hotel’s discretion.

Benefits

The benefits provided to interns include –

STAFF ACCOMMODATION

FIRST DAY AT WORK

TREATMENT

Human Resources and all departments must endeavor to promote a positive working experience for all interns. Interns must be treated with dignity and respect in line with our core values. It is the responsibility of the HR / L&D department and the concerned department head to ensure that they are given fair treatment, integrated quickly within the team, trained thoroughly and exposed to all areas of the department as per their training plan.

Interns will be received upon arrival at the airport and transported to the staff accommodation. They must be met by a member of the housing team and escorted to the assigned accommodation. Manager must ensure that the intern is provided basic orientation of the facilities within the accommodation premises and in the apartment. He/she must also provide a list of accommodation rules and regulations and hotel bus timings. Accommodations

On their first day at work all interns must be met and welcomed by a member of the L&D and/or Human Resources team. After an introduction with the HR team, the intern would be showed to locker room, uniform room and other HOH facilities.

Learning Journey – Internship

#4 4 – 6 Month

Key Learnings: - Graduation & Evaluation - Cross Training is optional

#Meeting First Month Meeting with Trainees, Department Heads and L&D may discuss the progress of their training upon completion of first month to check up on the happiness and welfare of the trainees.
