If you haven’t heard already our annual Tour O’Booths cycling challenge returned this May and we’re proud to say that this year we are fundraising and raising awareness for Cure Leukaemia, The Blood Cancer Charity. Blood cancer remains the third biggest cancer killer in the UK with approximately 38,000 people diagnosed and 14,000 losing their lives to the disease ever y year. The funds raised will help continue to suppor t life-saving blood cancer clinical trials through the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP). A TIPPLE OF TAPPERS Reviving the ar t of gin at their seaside home on the Wirral Peninsula, Tappers Gin is hand-crafted with passion by an independent family business. Ever y gin is created in small batches using only premium, natural ingredients, each with a unique stor y to tell.

Bunless burgers

SAUCY SELECTIONS

Serves: 2 ︱ Prep time: 20 minutes ︱ Cooks: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS 1 onion 25g butter 2 rump burgers 1 tbsp veg oil 4 slices thick bread Butter (for the bread) 1 tbsp American style mustard 2 slices Cheddar cheese 2 slices Swiss cheese CHEF'S TIP For a boozy BBQ sauce, add a splash of whisky or rum to a smoky BBQ sauce.

METHOD 1  Thinly slice your onion and sweat in the 25g butter, cook gently until caramelised. 2 Brush your burgers with oil and season. Chargrill each side for 3 minutes until fully cooked through. Keep warm. 3 To build your toastie, butter the bread (the butter side goes on the outside). On two slices of the bread, spread mustard, add a slice of Cheddar, the burger, onion, a slice of Swiss cheese, more mustard and top with the two other slices of bread. 4 In a hot pan, grill the toastie until the bread turns golden and the cheese melts. Cut in half and ser ve immediately. 5 Best served with slaw, fries, sour cream and chive dip and a smoky BBQ sauce.

METHOD 1  Slice the halloumi, cut the baby gem lettuce and tomatoes in half and thinly slice the radishes, jalapeños and red onion. Marinate the red onion in some of the lime juice and salt. 2 Mash the avocado, adding a little of the lime juice and salt. 3 Brush the burgers with a little oil and season with salt and pepper. Chargrill on both sides for 3 minutes until fully cooked. Cut in half and keep warm. 4 Chargrill the spring onions and halloumi and keep warm.

Crafts critters & For some summer holiday fun get crafty in the kitchen! Make your cupcakes heavenly with our range of Cake Angels decorations, or create some cheesy caterpillars with our step by step recipe. Ingredients in bold . Ask an adult to help.

Cheesy Caterpillars

METHOD 1  Thread 3 mini mozzarella balls onto a cocktail stick then add a cherry tomato . 2 Place 2 edible eyes on the tomato with a dab of honey to keep them in place. Add spots to your critter using cake sprinkles and more honey. 3 Place on a plate with slices of kiwi and apple cut into flower shapes and some fresh herbs or lettuce leaves to set the perfect garden scene. Prep time: 5 minutes ︱ Follow our step by step

Mini Veg Patches Serves: 2 ︱ Prep time: 15 minutes

METHOD 1  Thoroughly wash and dr y 2 new small plant pots or bowls. 2 Fill each plant pot/bowl with ½ a tub of hummus , top with crushed digestives or charcoal cheese biscuits to look like soil and gently press 4 baby carrots and 4 small purple sprouting broccoli or Tenderstem broccoli to look like they are growing and ready to harvest.

HANGING TREAT TINS These tins are great to attract bees, butterflies and birds for some well-deserved nectar and a place to rest. This works with all flowers but purple and pink are the best for butterflies. Add plaited rope in a bow around your tin, you could thread wooden beads onto the handle. Ask an adult to help.

COMPONENTS 2 tin cans Ball of string 1 orange cut in half Some of your favourite flowers. Makes: 2 ︱ Prep time: 30 minutes

METHOD 1  Use clean tin cans with no sharp edges, the ring pull tins are best however, be extra careful when handling any tin. Remove the labels and wash them. 2 Wrap some string around the top lip of your tin, tie in a tight knot and cut. Create a handle by forming a long loop of string tied to the string around the can. 3 Place a cut orange half in each tin, add a few flowers and herbs and hang around a tree or fence.

COMPONENTS Ball of string 100g dried apricots 100g dried prunes 3 apples, cut into slices

METHOD 1  Cut your apple into slices, place on a tray and slowly dr y in the oven for about 4-8 hours at 80°C (fan) / 100°C / gas mark 1. 2 Cut different lengths of string and make a knot in one end. Thread the dried fruits on to your string and hang them in the garden for the wildlife to enjoy.

EASY PIZZA DOUGH INGREDIENTS 500g pizza / pasta flour 7g dried yeast ½ tsp salt 1 tsp caster sugar 2 tbsp olive oil 325ml water Serves: 6 ︱ Prep time: 23 minutes plus proving time

METHOD 1  Combine all the dr y ingredients. Make a well in the centre and add the oil. Slowly add enough water and combine ever ything until the dough comes together with your hands. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and knead for 8 minutes. 2 Place the dough in a bowl and cover with lightly oiled cling film. Leave to rise for one hour. 3 Remove the dough from the bowl and knock back for 2 minutes. Divide into 6 even pieces, cover loosely with cling film and leave to prove again for a fur ther 10 minutes. 4 Pre-heat the oven to the highest setting. Roll out your first piece of dough and place it onto a floured baking tray. 5 Add any sauces and toppings before baking in the oven for 8 minutes, or until the edges are puffed up and golden. 6 Repeat with the remaining pizzas and serve immediately. CHEF’S TIP This dough can also be used for flatbread. Simply break off a small piece of dough and roll out to approximately 2mm thick. Heat a little oil in a fr ying pan and cook the flatbreads for 1 minute on each side. Serve warm with hummus.
