SECRETARY’S MESSAGE BY COL D’ANNE SPENCE, USAF

The Army Navy Country Club Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, 3 October 2022 at the Arlington Clubhouse. At the meeting, we will elect Resident Members to the Board of Governors to serve for the period October 2022 to October 2025. Our By-Laws provide that only Resident Members may stand for election to the Board. At this year’s Annual Meeting, we are presently scheduled to elect 12 Governors. We will elect 6 Governors from those Resident Members who are on Active Duty or Selected Reserve Resident status. We will elect 6 Governors from those Resident Members who are in the All Others status. We will ensure that nomination forms are available in the Administration Office and on the Club’s website no later than Wednesday, 1 June 2022. To ensure the publication of the nomination in the Annual Meeting Packet, we must receive the nomination no later than Friday, 8 July 2022. We will permit nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting, but please advise me of any such notifications prior to the meeting so I can ensure the floor nomination is of a qualified Resident Member. The use of military rank for nomination and election purposes is permissible under Title 10 of the US Code. For example, an Active Duty army officer may identify herself in the form of “CPT Jane Doe, USA,” and a retired army officer may identify herself as “CPT Jane Doe, USA (Ret.).” Former military officers may not use their former rank as a preface, but may use their highest wartime rank as follows: Ms. Jane Doe (CPT, USA). I strongly encourage those who are interested in serving on the Board of Governors to familiarize themselves with our By-Laws, Club Rules, and Organization Manual. I am available to answer any questions you might have about this process at [email protected] or by phone: (703) 835-4108.

ANCC AUTHOR SERIES: GOOD GOODBYES BY JOAN S. GREY

Thursday, 9 June Williamsburg Room Light Refreshments - 6:30 PM | Speaker - 7:00 PM $6 per person Registrations open 12 May at noon No matter who we are, where we are from, or what we do, we face one unescapable reality in life – death. Death is our ultimate commonality. It is inescapable, inevitable, and for many, quite frightening. But it doesn’t have to be. “Good Goodbyes: A Mortal’s Guide to Life” is a resource guide for The End, providing a holistic approach for a universal problem. Author Joan Grey, West Point class of 1980 (the first class to include women), has written this captivating book which is a wake-up call, an organizing system, and inspiration for getting your affairs in order. We can’t change our ultimate outcome, but it’s possible for dying to be more of a transformative passage rather than a medical crisis. Most people don’t intend to leave a mess behind, but failing to anticipate and plan ahead results in a chaotic conclusion. Prevent the chaos and plan for this unavoidable yet transformative part of life.

Clothing items such as denim jeans or denim skirts (any color), frayed or cut-off shorts, athletic or tennis shorts or skirts, spandex biking shorts, gym shorts, sweat suits, warmup suits, tennis dresses, tee shirts, halter tops, and tank tops are examples of inappropriate golf attire. 3) For gentlemen, collared shirts will be tucked into trousers or shorts, and knitted or banded collars must be at least 1” wide. 4) Caps will be worn “bill forward” whenever it is appropriate to wear a hat. 5) For ladies, it is not a requirement for shirts to be tucked in, but bare midriffs should not be visible before, during, or after a swing. 6) Junior Golfers will observe the same attire and dress code policy as adults.
