Come See and Hear this Fearless Duo Tell Their Tales of Thrills, Adventure and Discoveries!
Alan and Linda Sandlin spent three weeks touring Ecuador and the Galapagos, boating, hiking, snorkeling and examining up close and personal, the people and these desolate Islands filled with uniquely adapted birds and animals. Boaters Night Wednesday, June 2 Burgee Bar Happy Hour at 6pm • Dinner Upstairs at 7pm The Galapagos’ isolated terrain shelters 192 endemic species of plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Discovered in the 1500’s and often occupied by pirates and whalers during the 1700 and 1800s used the Islands to re- provision fresh water and even capture the huge land tortoises as a meat supply. Charles Darwin visited there in 1835 on the now famous voyage of HMS Beagle. His detailed observation of the incredible adaptations of plants and animals in this wild isolated island later inspired his theory of evolution. This is a rare treat – don’t miss it!

There’s a Daytime Activity for Everyone at MIYC! A q u a f i t a t M I Y C Aquafit classes take place at the MIMA pool at 10 am on Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday and at 1 pm on Thursday . Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy water aerobics - a low-impact activity that takes the pressure off your bones, joints and muscles. Water also offers natural resistance, which can help strengthen your muscles and you can add resistance devices to burn more calories! Exercising in the pool provides the toning and cardiovascular benefits of exercise on dry land with less strain and stress plus it allows for a greater range of motion helping with flexibility and balance. And most importantly, it is enjoyable fun! As with any other exercise routine, just be certain you get medical clearance from your health care provider before taking the plunge. Contact Summer Coordinator Kimberly Porter at [email protected] with questions.

Chairman I think the hectic pace of the last few months is starting to slow down. Many of our members headed back north at the end of May. The amount of traffic on the island is less hectic. And, we have been blessed by absolutely perfect weather for the past few weeks! Summer is also a great opportunity for year-round residents to sample other local Clubs through the Summer Reciprocal program. Check out the summer reciprocal listing in the Anchorlines. Through this program, participating local Clubs welcome members of other participating Clubs for dining. It is important to note that access beyond dining is not available
at all Clubs. For example, at MIYC we certainly welcome reciprocal club members for dining at our Club. However, reciprocal members are not eligible for other MIYC club activities (like water aerobics, on-water cruise events, ladies canasta, couples bridge, etc.) Reservations for use of other clubs in the summer reciprocal program must be made with the participating club. Meanwhile, our planned improvements at the Club continue to move forward. The preparation for conversion to Northstar passed a significant milestone in late May. We moved the Jonas operating system to our older (slower) server. This allows us to have a permanent home for historical >Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 Page 12 Page 13 Page 14 Page 15 Page 16 Page 17 Page 18 Page 19 Page 20 Page 21 Page 22 Page 23 Page 24 Page 25 Page 26 Page 27 Page 28 Page 29 Page 30 Page 31 Page 32 Page 33 Page 34
