The Silver Lining to Our Quarantine New Locations and New Firm Chapters www.LeRoyPetersonLaw.com

August 2020

As a team, our firm is continuously evolving, especially during the pandemic when we’ve been forced to work from home. This change has caused us to reevaluate our entire workflow, which includes discovering the benefits of a better work-life balance. So, in light of our experiences, we’re changing things up a bit in the latter half of 2020! During the quarantine, as my team and I moved out of our offices, we replaced our in-person client meetings with videoconferencing. At first, it was just for safety, but now we’re seeing how convenient video calls are for everyone involved. Since people across the country can now attend the meetings, our clients and their loved ones can join in, ensuring every aspect of our cases is being considered. We still prefer to conduct in-person meetings, especially when we design estate plans and long-term care plans, but we’re finding personal video calls can be beneficial and preferable in some instances. And we will always encourage in- person meetings when they are preferred by our clients. Additionally, the work-from-home structure forced me and my staff to refine our processes and workflow since we didn’t have the ease of physically seeing one another. We now have clear and concise communication protocols making our workflow seamless (or at least we are getting closer to that goal). During our video calls, I can also share case files and documents with our clients, ensuring everyone is on the same page every step of the way. When we had to start working remotely, I was already searching for a new office. COVID-19 halted that. Admittedly, moving offices is hard since we had been working at the Pacific Street location for the last five-plus years. But with that building changing hands and undergoing renovations, I felt that it was time to move to a

different location. Over the last three months, we have concluded that working from home and maintaining a smaller office space would be the best choice. So, we are excited to announce we have moved into a new office located at 11819 Miracle Hills Drive, Suite 104, Omaha, NE 68154. The new office has a beautiful layout and is in a convenient central location, making it an exciting space to meet new and existing clients. As we begin life in our new space, we’re integrating what we’ve learned over the last three months of working from home. I’ll be doing some of my drafting and production-type work from my home office and giving my staff remote work options. At the moment, I’ve only been coming into the office to meet with clients in person, and my staff only comes in when necessary to act as witnesses or notaries. Since we’re already accustomed to a similar process, I feel the team won’t miss a beat.

Throughout this move, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to have a fantastic staff that creates a firm that continues to grow and allows me to keep hiring talented team members. I believe my staff isn’t the only team that will be finding a new and more productive work-life balance. This entire COVID-19 experience has been eye-opening for anyone who rents office space, including myself. However, with technology, our processes, and the beautiful new office space, essential meetings and calls are going to be more convenient than ever for our clients.
