Throughout our lives, we are presented with various opportunities to step out of our comfort zone and take a chance on something new or uncertain. It’s not always easy trying new things or opening yourself up to new experiences, but if you want to accomplish your goals, you might need to take some risks. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try something new, look no further than National Take a Chance Day on April 23 this year. One of the biggest obstacles we have to overcome when trying something new is fear. Personally, I deal with fear every day, so I have to make a conscious effort to have faith that everything that must happen, will happen. To do this, I’ve developed an abundance mentality. For those unfamiliar with an abundance mentality, it’s essentially the concept of living life to the fullest. “If you decide to stay in your comfort zone, you’re truly limiting your potential for growth.” With an abundance mentality, you adapt, grow, and change to adjust to your surroundings and the ever-changing landscape of your life. If you decide to stay in your comfort zone, you’re truly limiting your potential for growth. We only get one life, so we should do everything in our power to live our lives to the fullest. National Take a Chance Day is another reminder to choose faith over fear when dealing with new or difficult situations. Don’t Let Fear Control Your Life TAKE THAT CHANCE
I didn’t always have an abundance mentality, though. Before I developed it, my mom taught me to take my troubles to the Lord and leave them there. My mom is a strong God-fearing woman who sings in the choir and always sings the “How I Got Over” song by Aretha Franklin playing in our home. She was a wonderful inspiration for me growing up and plays a huge role in who I am today. My mom was a first-grade teacher for the majority of her life but took a position as the dean of students at the end of her career. She highly valued education and made sure it was a focal point for both me and my brother. We were always inspired to do our best and take pride in our accomplishments. She also ensured we attended church regularly, which helped me develop my relationship with God. I hope I can pass on some of the same lessons she taught me to my children. When National Take a Chance Day rolls around this year, make some time to think about what you’ve wanted to pursue but haven’t because fear holds you back. This is your chance to stop letting fear dictate what you can do with your life. If you wait for the perfect opportunity, you could be watching your life pass you by. Take that chance and don’t look back. It may just put you on the fast track toward a more successful and happier life.

We all have our favorite go-to technology, but we also have tools and practices we cannot live without. I have compiled a list of the 10 most vital items/programs that I couldn’t have made it through the last 10 years without. How do yours compare? Gmail — Having incoming and outgoing mail in a central location helps keep me sane. I can quickly find the things I need when I need them. Google Calendar — I’m getting to the point when, if it’s not on my calendar, it won’t happen. Google Search — I can’t imagine what life was like before Google. Now, when anyone wants to know something, they can just “Google it.” Journal — I haven’t been journaling for 10 years, but it’s definitely something I can’t do without. It lets me take ideas from my head and put them down on paper, freeing up additional brain space. Books — I’ve spent more time reading in the last 10 years than I have in my 36 years total. I enjoy reading and learning about business. Jump Drive — I remember a few years ago, I thought I lost my jump drive, and I went into panic mode. It contained 10 years of >Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4
