The Senior Engineering Manager will assist with the delivery of engineering and technical services at this prestigious property. A client and customer facing role, they will be responsible for identifying and delivering commercial, technical and operational solutions involving the design, delivery and implementation of MEP and VT asset replacement strategies and projects. They will also support the day-to-day management of the engineering team and take the lead on liaison with operational colleagues and will deputise for the Technical Director in their absence.

1651 Pioneering businessman, Alexander Hay, became proprietor of Tooley Street warehouses, taverns and brew houses in London Bridge. His business acumen enriched the area and it began to be a key trading dock for the country. 1696 Joseph Hay (son of Alexander Hay) established an insurance scheme named 'Ye Amicable Contributors' and formed the first fire brigade in London to protect the area. 1838 Marked the end of nearly two centuries of the Hay family affiliation with Hay's Wharf.

1666 The Great Fire of London virtually destroyed the City and the riverside wharfs.

1700s Hay's Wharf was used as a refuge for German Protestants escaping persecution, some emigrate to New America

1840 John Humphrey Jnr took over the leasehold of the wharf.

1849 Britain opened up trade with the

1856/7 Sir William Cubitt, an acclaimed civil engineer, was commissioned to build a new wharf around an enclosed dock. Late 1800s/early 1900s The Wharf was rebuilt and became a major dockland serving the whole of the British Empire. Handling thousands of tons of dairy produce from abroad, it was named the Larder of London'. Cottons Wharf was converted into the first commercial cold storage warehouse in Britain. 1940s Hay’s Wharf was badly damaged during WWII bombings and once again it was rebuilt.

1960 The recovered dock was handling 2 million tons of foodstuffs within its wharfs and had 11 cold and cool air facilities.

1969 Saw the demise of the wharfs due to fierce labour disputes with the Dockers and a lack of manpower to unload the ships. A change in trading patterns and containerisation was also to blame. Early 1980s The land at Hay’s Wharf was acquired and the regeneration of the derelict docks stretching from London Bridge to Tower Bridge began. It was named London Bridge City. 1987 Hay’s Wharf was transformed into a beautifully designed shopping arcade, Hay’s Galleria Artist, David Kemp, was commissioned to build the giant sculpture, The Navigators, to remember the areas docking heritage.

1977 Skate City was built and the Queen’s Walk (from Lambeth Bridge to Tower Bridge) was established to mark the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. 1986 Saw the completion of phase one of London Bridge City: No.1 London Bridge and the Cottons Centre.

1998 The More London Estate was sold to London Bridge Holdings Limited who developed it into what it is today.

2002 City Hall was completed.

Present Day London Bridge City encompasses the site of these historic warehouses, with No. 1 London Bridge, Cottons Centre, Hay’s Galleria and More London Estate all standing proud within this dynamic riverside food, shopping and entertainment hub.

2010 7 More London Riverside was the last building to be finished.

The Role Senior Engineering Manager London Bridge City

This is an incredible opportunity to work in one of London’s most iconic business and lifestyle destinations, welcoming millions of visitors annually and working within a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. This role will assist with the delivery of engineering and technical services at this prestigious property, which overlooks London Bridge Station, London Bridge and the Thames. It will support the Technical Director in delivering first-class property management as a part of the London Bridge City team.

Overview:

• Review service partner’s proposals and switching schedules for electrical shutdown works to ensure optimum level of service to Occupiers and systems. • Assist the property managers in the compliance with all current legislation and

• Provide senior management support for the Technical Director and stand-in as the senior technical representative in the Technical Director’s absence. • Provide day-to-day technical and operational support to the Property Managers and Occupiers. • Provide first line day-to-day management for the Engineering Team. • Support the Property Management Team • Take the lead in the review of the MEP and VT asset registers to ensure that they are up to date and inclusive of all equipment. • Take the lead in the procurement of all vertical transportation and access equipment lifecycle planning. • Support the Property Management Team and the Head of People and Culture in the provision of ESG planning and improvements. • Assist the Property Managers in their preparation and management of engineering in the procurement of utilities and the procurement of associated services, including metering and professional services, including brokerage of utility services, recharges etc.

Strategy:

• Working with the Property Managers, develop, implement and manage Environmental and Energy Conservation Programmes, (working with others where necessary) ensuring optimum usage of energy. To advise on potential problems, improvements and possible savings. • Assist the Property Managers in the management and development of the CAFM system, ensuring information, plant history, drawings and technical information is accurate and up to date. • Develop, implement and maintain the site- specific plant replacement strategy and programme, working in conjunction with the budget holders, clients, accountants, surveyors and appointed consultants.

Contractual & Reporting:

• Set up new utility contracts for handed over buildings and public realm as required. • Prepare contract documentation to include: - Tender Documents, agreements and specifications. • Manage tendering procedures. Analyse Tenders. Undertake Post tender interviews. • Manage contractor closely during mobilization period and through to completion. • Ensure that all O&M’s and drawings are in place as soon as is reasonably practicable.

Person Specification Essential: • Previous Senior Engineering Management experience within a private estate • Suitable engineering / building services qualification. • Working knowledge and experience of the mechanical and electrical services industry and key factors affecting it. • Good strategic vision and a strong commitment to customer service. • Successful people management experience, including technical & personnel development & change management. • Extensive experience of managing services to an agreed budget. • Good understanding of property management. • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legislative health & safety requirements in relation to MEP services, L8 and MEP services. • Excellent time management skills with ability to respond to client/contract deadlines. • Fully conversant with Electrical installation and current IEE regulations. • Experienced in the planning and delivery of MEP projects. Desirable: • Member of professional body such as CIBSE, IET, IWFM. • NEBOSH certificate preferred.
