Fr iends of MADD Connecticut

As we enter the Spr ing of 2022 , we at MADD CT are optimistic that conditions wi l l continue to improve , hopeful ly to a level of comfort that wi l l al low for more in person participatory events this year . Needless to say , the past two years have been very di ff icult for most non - prof its , and MADD was no exception . I am happy to report that we have scheduled our four statewide walks , beginning with our Walk Like MADD – Foxwoods - kicking it off on Saturday , Apr i l 30th from the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center . We are excited that MADD National Board Member , Nicole Hutchinson , wi l l be joining us as we honor her sister , Darcie , who was ki l led in Uncasvi l le by an impai red dr iver 25 years ago . Nicole wi l l be joining us from North Carol ina . In addition , we wi l l welcome the latest to be crowned - Miss Connecticut – as she makes her f i rst publ ic appearance at our event . Later this Spr ing , MADD CT wi l l honor the men and women Fi rst Responders at our May 21st Walk Like MADD – Hartford , as we return to the Xf inity Theater . We are encouraging departments to join us as we walk in memory of those lost and the many survivors of drunk dr iving crashes . We are gear ing up and are hopeful your schedule permits you to come out and join us ! Wishing you a great Spr ing Season ! Hope to see you soon !

Since 1981 , National Cr ime Victims ’ Rights Week ( NCVRW ) has chal lenged the Nation to confront and remove barr iers to achieving justice for al l victims of cr ime . Dur ing NCVRW , we celebrate the accompl ishments of the victims ’ r ights movement and ref lect on how far we have come .

Every Apr i l , OVC leads communities throughout the country in thei r annual observances of NCVRW .

Save the date for NCVRW 2022 , which wi l l be observed Apr i l 24 – 30 . The 2022 NCVRW theme is Rights , access , equity , for al l victims . The theme underscores the importance of helping cr ime survivors f ind thei r justice by —

enforcing victims ' r ights , expanding access to services , ensur ing equity and inclusion

for al l .

NAT I ONA L DONAT E L I F E MONTH

National Donate Li fe Month ( NDLM ) was establ ished by Donate Li fe Amer ica and its partner ing organizations .

For National Donate Li fe Month ( NDLM ) 2022 , Donate Li fe Amer ica was inspi red by the vital role that bees play in sustaining l i fe . Bees are a smal l but powerful l i fe force , working together with dedication , col laboration and a strong sense of community . This National Donate Li fe Month , we ask you to be a part of this interconnected l i fe - sustaining community by register ing as an organ , eye and tissue donor ; becoming educated about l iving donation ; and championing the Donate Li fe cause .

Join the Amputee Coal ition in celebration of Limb Loss and Limb Di fference Awareness Month ( LLLDAM ) , Apr i l 1 - 30 , 2022 . Themed , “ Your Ordinary is Extraordinary , ” LLLDAM spotl ights the l imb loss and l imb di fference community and the vital need to support efforts that advance equitable medical access , care , and coverage . The obstacles that people l iving with l imb loss and / or l imb di fference must overcome are no easy feats . As they adapt to a new way of l iving , amputees exper ience victor ies dai ly in simple areas of l i fe . Dur ing 2022 LLLDAM , we celebrate the smal l and big wins within our community . We would l ike our community to know , “ Your Ordinary is Extraordinary . ” By approaching each day of l i fe with the fundamental wi l lpower to thr ive , our community members champion human strength by persisting . COVID - 19 has exacerbated mental , physical , emotional , and social problems for al l humans , and whi le our community members exper ienced grave setbacks dur ing this time , they sti l l f ind ways to thr ive . It may seem so ordinary as amputees go about thei r l ives , but thei r ordinary is extraordinary .

The Off icer Ben Lovett Badge # 201 Educational Fund was created to provide our Power of You ( th ) Programming to middle schools , high schools , youth groups and community organizations – free of charge .
