August 3rd is National Night Out Day. This event celebrates community building and promotes police and community partnerships that help build neighborhood relations. As a city, we truly emphasize community unity and this event showed this. The City of Lake Elsinore is excited to announce the partnership with our local police and fire department, Target, and Canyon Lake to host our Annual National Night Out event. The event that took place at Summerly Park was completely free to attend. We are amazed at the outpour of community members and fortunate to have our local police officers and firefighters present. Also provided were display vehicles, amusements, raffle prizes, and food trucks. We appreciate all of those who attended and we hope to see more next year.

Whats New?
The One Team, One Dream outreach team has continued to do phenomenal work all summer. As the city continues to make strides toward reducing homelessness, the number of contacts made with homeless individuals has reached 1,600+. This includes engaging with homeless individuals several times, sometimes up to 80 times before they accept our help. In June, the team engaged with homeless individuals 234 times, with 3 individuals exiting and staying off the streets. Additionally, ZERO individuals returned to the streets. If you would like to learn more about the outreach team, please join the outreach team and the City of Lake Elsinore for a community update on Thursday, August 19th at 6 PM. A Better Look at SB 9
This is what SB 9 would allow. The state wants to eliminate single-family zoning. In addi- tion, the bill takes away public input and makes higher-density housing a right to be processed behind the scenes at city halls without a public hearing. Send an email to your local state elect- ed official regarding the detri- ments of SB 9.

Whats New?
Automated License Plate Readers in Lake Elsinore A few weeks ago residents asked questions about new cameras that were appearing throughout the city. These cameras are automated license plate readers (ALPR). They are a handy tool for police and they went live on July 1.
Golden Sands, in which an unoccupied vehicle was struck with the victim knowing the suspect. A search of ALPR located the suspect vehicle and led deputies to his residence in which he was arrested. File #L211840196 Recovered stolen vehicle . An ALPR alerted of a reported stolen vehicle being driven on Central. Deputy located the vehicle immediately and took the driver into custody. Criminals that specialize in auto crimes will learn quickly that they can no longer evade the police while traveling within our city. In three of the examples listed above a citizen initiated the process by contacting the police. A quickly reported stolen car or plates may be the difference in a quick recovery. Please report racing or reckless driving incidents - the chances of catching the perpetrator greatly improve, especially with a license plate number. Thanks goes out to our Sheriffs Department for their hard work making our city safer.
Our Lake Elsinore Station Captain shared a few success stories over the initial 48 hour period: 7/2/2021 File #L211820148 Fatal traffic collision . Traffic investigators were able to determine another vehicle may have been engaged in racing the victim through the ALPR on Lakeshore. Investigation still ongoing with potential criminal filing. File #L211830045 Recovered stolen vehicle . ALPR alerted of a reported stolen vehicle being driven on Collier. Deputy located the vehicle within minutes and took the driver into custody whom was in possession of fraud related items and a handgun. 7/3/2021 File #L211840006 Deputies handled a shooting investigation off of
