On May 31st, SLDB celebrated World No Tobacco Day for which this year’s theme was “Tobacco: Threat to our environment”. During the event, Wahid Al Mawaly raised awareness on the benefits of quitting smoking for our health but also for the environment. A video was then shared of some of our colleagues who have quit smoking, how they did it and how they feel now. Unanimously, quitting resulted in positive changes in their life. It was a great way to encourage others to follow the same path. Afterwards, our colleagues engaged in breathing exercises and tests. The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness. Our Fire & Life Safety Manager facilitated a fire emergency response training at Emirates Down Syndrome Association who is our partner. The focus this year was assisting people with disabilities. While disasters and emergencies affect everyone, their impact on people with disabilities/special needs is often compounded by factors such as reliance on electrical power, elevators, accessible transportation and accessible communication. Assisting people with disabilities should always be given priority and we ensure that all team members are well trained. RESPONSE TRAINING FIRE EMERGENCY WITH EDSA
